Me i went to an interview for the post of electromechanical engineer
I did well in the test. So during the interview i was asked to introduce myself.............immediately i mentioned i have worked in water production company na so d interview pulse me and asked what an IMPELLER is...impeller koh impeller ni...me dat have forgotten. I was just beating about the bush....so he asked if we have bole hole at home, i said yes. Has d pumping machine developed fault b4? I said yes....he now said as an engineer when ever we call the technician to repair it, y dont i ask question.. i was just there looking at him ...although i answered every other questions well but he used dat first question to knocked me out.
I got home to search for joting note i used den...low nd behold everything about IMPELLER was there.....was so mad at myself.
Always try to prepare b4 goin for any interview and dont say what u cant defend both orally and on your resume
I realized it's a different to understand your course very well and have a skills in teaching...

I remember some teaching interviews I attended years ago...
The written test was great.if I wanna grade maself should be 90+

The practical on system should be 75+ as a computer Scientist giving a project to design on system

Finally the micro teaching which is the 3rd stage

My course wild with lots of topics....the nigga just open the text book and picked one familiar topic but definitely I din't even prepare for or even read about since I was in secondary school...
I just laff like ..dis dude no see latest common trending topics to pick...he go pick uncommon topic...

I had to use my idea all Tru and I had to grade myself around 45% ...

So I believe if you have a career in teaching...the way those people study all topic in their Field is different from the non teaching dudes

OlodoGraduate:
Woah.
It seems I'm living up to my name , "OlodoGraduate".
So, I dropped an application in a school about 2 weeks ago. I got called yesterday to come for interview. I was given a written test. I believe I did good in the test. Then, I was asked to come for a microteaching today.

I was given the topics to prepare for - in Mathematics; bearing and in Physics; Electricity.

I got home and didn't work towards crosschecking my mastery of these topics as I made my self believe that I would get no glitches in teaching these topics and I also got this crazy headache. I just took drugs and slept all along.

Today came, I quickly came up with a lesson note and proceeded to the school....

Since the school is on holiday, the SSS 2 and SSS 3 were together for lessons. I was asked to teach Bearings first. I began quite good and after a while, I was given a question to solve with the students.

It was a past WAEC question on calculation in Bearings. I was able to make out the diagram, but then I knew outrightly that something was wrong..

I knew what was wrong but I was unable to rectify it. I was just there in the front, blanking out of options....
Thankfully, I was put through by my supervisors {in fact, I really appreciate them} in a polite way and one of them even asked to students to applaud me.

I managed to appeal to the students and explained that "such happens at times".

The supervisor also tried to buttress my point by sighting an example of a case where examiners with over 30 years of experience couldn't solve a certain question — probably not to let me feel hopeless. I wanted to hold on to that as a panacea, but then I snapped out of it "shame on me".
There is an adage in Yoruba that says "oruko nroni". You may be very brilliant but I tell you, that name you bear olodo will definitely take its toll on you.

Ur own is better, when I was looking for a school to teach because my PPA was a ghost ministry, Nothing was done there. Omo immediately I applied in one school like that, they didn't even told me to go home and prepare for interview. They interviewed me immediately on the spot by giving me hard GCE questions to solve. Like no prior preparation at all. Am very good at physics but at times formulas can escape ur memory, and most of the questions were based on capillarity, surface tension, Archimedes principle, omo after trying and trying to recall, I simply submitted empty script and left the school, I didn't bother to check back, I know say I don Bleep up

Your experience is the reason I did not go for MY PhD because I dont want to be attending any interview before I should chop I am doing business and consulting , Although we are of age but you should prepare very well for any interview before you go how small it may be to avoid embarrassment as the young is growing

Ive not seen that school. Which student wants to know phoneh more than me?
Lool I laff grin cheesy

You should have left it at the first sentence though... @the bolded. You haven't seen and that's okay.

But know that there are schools, and then there are schools... I repeat, some students will embarrass you if you make the slightest slip as a teacher and try to take them for granted. Trying to cover it up, instead of apologizing at that instance, will be a terrible idea.

Thank God. The subject I teach is not something most schools understand or know much about. So whenever I'm called for micro-teachings like that, I'm not shaky because even if I "tabon", no body will notice. grin.

Sometimes I confuse them with my British accent that they give up looking for faults. Lol..

Luckily for me, I've never made any mistakes.

Op just today I encountered same predicament as yours, although mine is not my fault, I am a corper that left Delta my initial deployed state to Lagos my residential state hoping for greener pasture of better PPA but with all the search of one na teaching I later see, to got the long story short, I am a sociology and anthropology student teaching English from jss1 to Ss3. Six classes on a row you can imagine how hectic and hardworking I had to be

Today I went to ss2 class and I faced the embarrassment of my life, those girls showed me pepper, I managed to transcribe some few English words I familiarise myself with before going to there class as example, na so one idiot among them pleaded I transcribe one long word for them in front of all the class I wanted to ignore her but she was too loud, I felt embarrass my hands were shaken I couldn't do it I quickly bring out my phone for dictionary although I covered part of my shame but they knew I didn't know it.

I am still dealing with the embarrassment till now, and I have lost my confidence going to that class again
Try and solve the challenge at home.....surprisingly end the same class with the new solution next time....ensure you're very correct.
Re: My Experience Today by Hahjascho(m): 9:55am On Oct 01, 2021
@olodograduate, realising ur mistakes still showed u r intelligent.
First of all, what one says of himself has a funny way of communicating with the subconscious mind. We can't control this most times...that's the reason is better to always be positive.

Also, from my little experience teaching the main Science subjects...MATHS-PHYS-BIO-CHEM, I have never felt over confident. Proper reparation has been my watchword and the inspiring feedbacks av received face to face from my students and Co-teachers, have been consistent.

See ehn, in all endeavours in life, proper preparation prevents poor performance.

The bolded is what I could say affected my performance...
At my former place of work, I barely had time for my life and it affected me mentally...
Even after school hours, I'll still be dealing with school matters....

I just find it funny that most people who commented really think I'm an olodo... Lol
I know I'm not... And those close to me know I'm not...
All will be well, boss
