While the precise and exact causes may remain hidden, i think it's not really wise to gamble with the worst case scenario of what may happen if you site your Church or business under a high tension wire, i.e the national grid itself.
Anything can happen.
It pays to carry out some risk assesment before embarking on some projects, if it's below 50% safe and sure abandon the project and change strategy

How close was the building to the electric cables/ pole?

Where were they trying to hang the flag(s) that the pole had to touch the electric cables?

The same God you mentioned said "he that lacks wisdom let him ask of the Lord that giveth to all men freely"....

If you carry out your investigations, I bet you, the people who tried to raise the church flag didn't apply caution.

In as much as I don't understand what you're trying to mean as it didn't answer my questions, there's no true Christian who will tell you to "cover your with one gallon of the blood of Jesus" and then go to hold an electric cable. So I don't know where you got your assertion from.
