Taking into account the experience of people who's got appointment dates under category B,appointments come before the start dates.
I've never seen anyone who got an invitation after the start date passed.

I blatantly disagree, Sir

Hello hopefuls! smiley it's been a while. I really tried to do this study visa, waited for so long. Not here to discourage anybody, but just to advise that you shouldn't put your life on hold while waiting for the German embassy. I've been doing my studies online, will even write my thesis here and hopefully get a visiting visa to attend my colloquium. There are many other options available once you have an European masters degree.
So don't give up just yet, and live!
Best of luck everyone.

I'm wondering if there is still need of applying to Unis in Germany since getting interview date for visa is now such a hassle.
I'm currently thinking of focusing on Norway

I just received appointment on the 8th of October for 4th of November. I re-applied like everyone else on the 1st of April this year and used 1st of October as start date

Although I'm going to cancel the appointment cos I just arrived in Turkey for a dual program in Turkey and Germany so, I'll be applying to Germany from here next year to complete the program.

Even as a B.A German student sef I could not get appointment on time.

You would have found out how the Visa issue is before applying.
My 1 cent though.
Anyways people in Nigeria have been waiting for Visa appointments date for the past 2 years.
The truth is that Germany no longer needs all kinds of people. They only need the people from category A. Most students come here and start hustling instead of studying and the German government doesn't like that. The intake of students was only to last for 5 years from 2014- 2019. That is why after 2019, they changed everything at the embassy and brought in category A and B in order to select who they want. My faculty used to have a sizeable amount of Nigerian students each year but no Nigerian has come in after 2019. Please I advice all category B applicants to look for other options. Germany is no longer an option.

Check the visa application requirements/documents on the German consulate's/embassy's website in your residing city or country biko.
No one should do this for you.
Go to work biko.

Austria is also good but most of their programmes are in German language, which means you have to present German language certificate.
Again, most of their schools also demand for German language certificate even if the course is English language taught.
For your documents to be certified by their embassy for admission processes, you have to cough out at least N300k.
They have Nigerian lawyers that verify submitted documents by Nigerians.
E no easy for Nigerians any where.
cry cry cry cry

Verification at the embassy in Abuja is N200k for Nigerian adult who is going for study, for now. Just make sure all your documents are set and authentic so that you won’t pay another verification fee.
Legalization is EURO 80 per document. They use official exchange rate, not Aboki rate.

You would need to authenticate your academic documents at the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja before going for verification/legalization at the Austrian embassy in Abuja.

Don’t forget to authenticate your Police Character Certificate (police report) also, which should not be more than 3 months throughout the whole process of authentication, verification, and legalization. You would have to do another police report, incase the one you did before has passed 3 months and you have still not legalized your documents at the embassy. However, the embassy would not collect additional N200k from you to go and re-verify your police report again, provided the report has been satisfactorily verified before by the embassy’s lawyer.

If Nigerians are not going to a place e get why.

Make your findings to confirm but the stories about racism there is scary. They could attack blacks there and the police would do nothing about it plus the language barrier. Na study boys wan study na Abi wetin reach attack.

I guess you are referring to Austria’s process. If I get you well, Nigerian students not wanting to go Austria is not about racism at all. Austria is not a racist country. It’s because the process takes longer than what many Nigerians can bear and it’s costly, especially if you don’t live or stay in Abuja. More so, many Nigerians who may have doubtful documents to tender are scared of the verification processes.

Good morning Champs!
I commend the resilience of this group members and I pray lines fall perfectly in place for us all (one way or the other).

I have a few questions and I'd appreciate swift and concise answers.

1) While trying to rebook an appointment as the "start date" I inputted on the initial one has elapsed I came across two different kinds of visa application forms and I got confused on which was appropriate.
Below are the links to the two forms:

https://videx-national.diplo.de/videx/visum-erfassung/#/videx-langfristiger-aufenthalt

https://videx.diplo.de/videx/mobile/index.html#start

Please put me through on which is right for a study visa (Bachelor).

2) I've seen members on here mention booking dates on the first day of the month, Is it advisable that I book on any other date like today or tomorrow, or is the first day the most effective to boost my chances?

(I intend to use January or February as my new start date because the school gave me the grace to study online for my first semester.)

NB: I know the situation is almost impossible and these questions might seem pointless as several others are going through exactly what's happening to me but I can't give up due to the fees I already paid and the time and resources invested so I'd appreciate answers still on the questions raised above based on our collective experiences.

Thanks for your anticipated assistance

I believe you got a residence permit before booking an AD.To be on a safer side,an address in Benin Republic would have been best but you can still try your luck and know the story to tell the VO when asked about it but I don't think it should be a problem. I had almost similar case but not like your's.All the best.

Exactly what I wanted to share with him. You need your resident permit at least up to 6months to apply..Don't book any appointment until your documents are ready

Leave visa application forms for now until you're given an appointment.
Check under "National visa" on their website, you'll see the link for the visa application forms, which you can print and fill while going for interview.
You can now book at any time and i hope you know the waiting period for category B applicants is one year plus.
Nobody really understands the German consulate anymore regarding appointments.
I advise you don't cancel your previous booking because someone close to me called the consulate recently to know if he can book a fresh appointment as his start date has passed and they told him to be hopeful, that passed start dates don't really matter.
If you're school is going online, please, join them in whatever they do because your successful visa application after spending at least a semester in your home country depends on proofs you really attended online.
All the best.
