My question is that which one should come first salary or the environment?

Was stressful. Had to wake up by 4am just to beat Ojuelegbe traffic to mile2 from mile2, again to Apapa (tincan). Get back home by 10pm. For six days in a week just for 70k per month.

That's too bad but if I may ask you, do you join them as a professional, contract staff, or full time? Is the company own by Nigerian or foreigner? Do you have another alternative before you resign

Boss always nagging

My boss doesn't appreciate anything we do, he nags like there is no tomorrow... That man screeams like nothing I have ever seen before.. He threatened me with sack letter, countless number of time, not just me but other employees
I was losing my sanity and I had to just move on...

I left and weeks later he offered me 150% increase in salary, that he wants me back... Omo I refused. He had replace me with 4 new staffs.

In Nigeria always be one step ahead of your boss... Most of them got no joy..

I was laid off. There's really no job security anywhere sha. Nobody is indispensable to a company.

My then boss was fond of telling me at every instance, “you are one of my highest paid Engineers”.

So I should, sekem?
I should be go for thanksgiving?
Not to sound proud, but do they have my qualifications and work experience?
Besides, we all came interviews for employment and everyone agreed on the salary that was okay by them! Why can't you allow me breathe sir?! Very annoying.

Note: I was not underperforming o. He just needed to constantly remind me that I am earning too much for a Nigerian! Mtcheewwwww

Foreigner - He was earning over 2M monthly.
Nigerian Engineers - Scrambling 150 - 200k!

I was fresh from pharmacy school, got a job immediately, 12-8pm from Monday to Saturday for 40k monthly. I stopped after a month because I wasn't used to it, I almost broke down, not physically but mentally, I couldn't live my usual social life, my boss never agrees to a day off, not even for seminars, no watching of football, just engrossed in work, then I understood what adults go through in their lives, it's not easy. May God butter the bread of all hustlers, as a young man in Nigeria now, it seems one cannot make it big without having rich parents or doing yahoo. God help us all.

Because I needed to step into the next level, I traveled out of the country and came back, now I'm in the level I wanted... still aiming a new level...

Still managing it but will fully resign by the end of the year and relocate to where I will learn a business skill to establish myself.


From the onset, even before going to the university I have always wanted to be my own boss, I said to myself that if I could even work under someone it will have to be the govt (which I will still leave or combine with my own personal job) but couldn't secure any govt job had to work under a private firm, you know the ish with most Nigerian private firms na, would have left after some months but because of the experience and friendly boss here is what has kept me with them till now.

No Skilled Training

And the knowledge and IT skills you possess .. they want to drain

Everything is fvcked up.

I can say ... I am no better than being jobless..

Well you are lucky if you earn good salary ...
