There is apathy towards paying taxes when you know the taxes aren’t used for the common good.

You see the presidential jet that parked in Stansted airport for over a 100 days when your president went for treatment- tax payers money

The medical treatment he went for was paid with - correct, tax payers money

The 70-car convoy that bullies you off the road when the ones you voted in are moving around, the presidential jet that carried a daughter to an event organized for her school thesis, the powe bike crashed by the son, the mega allowances paid to National Assembly members… all tax payers money.

You see where this is going! No one will be happy to pay tax to a wasteful system.

In summary, tax isn’t paid out of love for your country, it is paid to be put to good use for the COMMON good

Some store money away there to avoid unnecessary freezing of their account by Government.

You think am, Nigeria is not safe, most big men knows this, incase of war or any a government that don't respect rule of law freeze their account they could quickly get out and still remain afloat
I believe the OP's question is not about the choice of where people store their money, rather it is about paying the rightful taxes on monies made even before you make your choice on where to store the money.

Do you pay tax?

If you pay, who are those looting it? Continue deceiving yourself. I dont support Obi Pandora, but if you can avoid it, then do. As long as you give employment to workers. You pay income tax also, and all your workers do.

Pandora and those Islands need money. And they give out free taxes. So what? Then go and accuse your govt of establishing free trade zones also.

Company taxes is bull crap in my opinion. If one is paying to a nation that uses it for her people, its fine, bug Nigeria? I guess you are a kid who have not started life.

Mr Obi didnt commit any crime and if he did he opened up a challenge to anyone interested in probe yesterday

Nigerians need stop the cheap blackmail "why not pay tax to a country you love"

Stop trying to mask your disdain for those men under the guise of some fake hypocritical patriotism. Nobody in the world, no matter how patriotic, would choose to pay double tax all because of patriotism - that would amount to sheer stupidity. Not even you woukd do that even if you had trillions.

For patriotism, they might choose to sponsor developmental projects or charities, but expecting a person to intentionally pay more taxes in their business, that's arrant nonsense.

By the way, what do you mean by saying those men are contributing to Nigeria's bad economy by not paying double taxes? You see why I said your personal disdain for those men is clouding your rationality?
Tax havens are bad to the economy of a developing country.

And many of you are just shouting double taxation without knowing what it really is, or its benefits.

With this finding, how will one explain the part of the clergymen trying to play smart by avoid tax. I guess the assertion that politics and pulpit goes hand in hand might just be true after all.

As for the politicians, Nigerian politicians particularly they will gladly pass a bill that will stop them from paying tax altogether if given the chance.

But to be frank, what happens to the VAT and other taxes collected by government. Where do the money go? What do they use it for? See ehn, in this Nigeria if I have my way I will very much love tp evade tax. Imagine our taxes being used to pay bandit's ransom up north. It makes no sense!!
The responsibility of government in the use of taxes does not preclude citizens from fulfilling their requirement of the law. You cannot break the law simply because you see government breaking the law. In such instances you loose the most

PETER OBI is the best man Nigeria needs now for the sake of young people and their frustrations with life in Nigeria. The man knows how to spread developments across all sectors simultaneously. He invested heavily in healthcare, education, Road construction and others as the governor of Anambra and brought in lots of investors to the state.

Nigeria should do everything to support his Presidency. I am so sure he will bring about the cancelling of much of the debts of the country.

This is the time for the South to rally round the South East, so that it wouldn't make the Southern Governor's Forum lose its momentum, at least for now. You may never have a chance at a better Nigerian Presidency than now.

Personally, if Peter Obi fails to make it at the end of the day, I am definitely relocating out of this country because it means Nigeria may never get better again.

How can such a man go the extra miles to prove his innocence and you are Still setting tougher barriers for him. The current president did not do half of these when he was campaigning to be President.
Let him first com out and contest in the PDP primary
Re: Pandora Papers: Why Avoiding Paying Taxes To A Country You Claim To Love? by PAQ(m): 8:07am On Oct 12, 2021
Tax avoidance and tax evasion are two different things. Tax avoidance means to legally reduce your taxable income while tax evasion means concealing income or information from tax authorities, to me both are morally wrong but the law is flexible which makes it possible to get away with avoiding tax.

Taxes are needed by the government to fund defense, Social Security, health programs along with paying off interest on the national debts but due to corruption Nigerians have lost trust in our governments utilization of funds raised through taxation, but nevertheless just like when we pay our tithes without questioning how its used by the church we should still make sure we pay our taxes.

Humans world over don't like paying tax not just Nigeria, that is why its an offence when you evade your tax, Wesley Snipes was sentenced to three years for tax evasion so as stars like Fat Joe, Lauryn Hill, Dolce & Gabana, Nicolas Cage .......

When we start holding our leaders accountable we will see the benefits of paying our taxes.

Pandora pandora tax wahala. As Accounting graduate tax is not something business and individuals are happy to pay.
There are legit ways of bypassing them let alone if they can be avoided totally.

Taxation in Nigeria give tax wavier to individuals and companies if the donate to certain organizations and claim some condition approved by law to beat down tax.

What l want to hear is Peter Obi loot govt money like Abacha or Ibori and the money is about to be send home .
All these pandora blablabblab that he has offshore account or do this and that is rubbish
It will not prevent him from any political position.
If those in kano caught on video pocketing bribe is still a governor is it someone private business strategy that should border us.

If Nigeria make use of the taxes that accrues to them presently in a judicious manner, Nigeria would be one of the greatest nation in the world.

I would not advice any business to establish herself in a country as Nigeria, its not the ideal society to thrive.

and yes the developed nation keep growing because the the government utilize the little resources committed to them hence the citizens and even foreigners are encouraged to pay more.

Maybe you made this statement because you lack economic education or maybe because it sounds virtuous to you. Countries make money from innovation and GDP. Jeff Besos is wealthy because of innovation. He creates jobs which creates income and that creates tax revenues. Taxing the hell out of a business prevents innovation and does not help countries - it HURTS countries.

The country needs to make TAX INCENTIVES to bring innovation and business. You are totally backwards in your thinking. You need to show other countries that if they place their money here it will create a return.

California has high taxes, but the poor suffer. You cannot tax your way out of poverty.

Why should I pay more taxes when I have the free choice to pay less?

This isnt even about Nigeria; all over the world, businessmen will always seek for ways to lessen their tax burden... and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I have no problem with paying less when you have the option, what I have problem with is exploiting the law illegally. When you hide in tax-havens, just make sure you are in no breach of the Nigerian laws.
