Recruit your kids – Nigerians slam Fayemi over call for NYSC members to fight Boko Haram

Governor Kayode Fayemi has come under attack for urging President Muhammadu Buhari to turn National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camps into security training grounds and recruit “willing and able” graduates to join the military and the police.

DAILY POST had reported that Fayemi pointed out that one of the cheapest and fastest ways to handle this was to amend the law setting up the scheme.

According to him, if NYSC ‘corpers’ are converted into soldiers, they could be deployed to fight against Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, separatists and so on.

He added that corps members, who cannot join the military services, can serve in their communities without pay.

But reacting, some Nigerians on social media urged him to lead by example by bringing his children abroad to join the military.

When they want to join that army later in life, they have to lobby and seek for connection, beg people, network, and etc.

I know lot of my friends that love the army and indicated their interest about joining after getting their B.tech. Most of them are part of the Man’o War in school and some of them are currently in the army as we speak. So that argument that only job frustration lead people to join the army might not be factually correct.

If NYSC can give them some opportunities to have that link to join the military without much hassle, then I see nothing bad in it.

I only read the willing part which is what I based my argument upon. Saying unwilling should be deployed shows Fayemi don dey kolo. Why him no deploy his own unwilling children.

The politicians should start by deploying their own children that’s at NYSC stage before deploying unwilling omo Olomo.

This is Talking GIBBERISH without Thinking. That's why there's so much unemployment and illitracies in our armed and security forces. The one year of NYSC should be in Military Training for all and sundry Corpers. At the end, those interested in Military and Police should be recruited leaving the rest for labour market.

Please explain to me why I should be in a battle I am not trained for? When we have trained soldiers and DSS running after harmless citizens? If you can't convince me you are a big fool.
