In other news, CAF have opened up bids for television rights ahead of the AFCON for the sub-saharan Africa region.. I think north Africa already has beIN sports...

Let's hope supersport get the right again... they are the only capable ones in sub-saharan Africa anyway...

When we hopefully get through to the final round of qualifying it could potentially be a banana peel that could trip us.

I have no doubt in my mind that we have the tools to beat anyone on the continent unfortunately our obvious tactical deficiency and NFF's lack of focus have dampened my hope of qualification. Anyway like you said we can only stay optimistic.

seankafor:
am sad how caf came up with this format..
Though it's for the good of the continent as only the best gets to represent the continent.. but still yet, it will be tighter or at par as the main mundial itself..
I pray we scale through thoor

Yeah I hope they get it too or somehow reach a deal to also broadcast it. Not forgetting the local stations as well. They shouldn't be left out.

The NBBF have released a press statement that the money donated to the basketball teams are still in the CBN account.. lol...they said they have asked the players to send their account details.. lol...

What a joke of a country... They won't do the right thing until they are called out...

Thank God the basketball team is filled with players who were either born or breed in the US where everybody has a right!!

Lol.

How did you manage to forget about Startimes.

They are also a credible competitor for the bidding

I don't think startimes have as many customers across sub-saharan Africa like DStv..

Even if they win the TV right, you don't think viewing centres and some homes will start getting their decoder just to watch AFCON and other CAF tournaments??

Does anyone here remember watching the the green eagles just before they became the super eagles? Watching the team growing in strength in that time around 1990 to 1994? Remember watching the final USA94 qualifier away to Algeria live on NTA? Remember the round of 16 game at the world cup against Italy?...right after the game it was a pears baby lotion advert hahaha my memory sha...

Anyway I just found a very interesting read from Onochie Anibeze of the Nigerian Vanguard newspaper I'll share here later. It is a lengthy but compelling read.

Watch this space.

Updated: Here it is guys...it's too long so I better to read direct from the vanguard website. Enjoy!!

Update on our upcoming game against Liberia..

Liberia FA are waiting for another inspection from CAF on their newly renovated stadium..

If it's passed fit, then our game against them won't take place in Ghana anymore...

Algeria I believe will be the hardest to best as they have really stepped up their game. For those thinking this is 2018, they have moved on. We shall continue to pray that we keep improving

Thanks for the link. It was an enjoyable read. Stumbled on this article

The expensive car joke

There were many stories. Daniel recalled how hard they had given their all in a camp in Holland and Westerhof, so impressed, told them he had a huge surprise for them. He said that he had gotten Mercedez Benz Motors to donate a car to each Nigerian player as a promotional package, which could boost their sales in Africa. He said each member of the team would have a Mercedez Benz car the following day and that the keys were ready.

“And truly, he brought some keys and distributed to us. Excitement reached heavens,” Daniel recalled. “Coach Christian Chukwu was already celebrating this and Keshi had called the wife to come down the following day from Belgium to Holland to drive a car home. Keshi was in Anderlecth at the time. Some of us still in Africa were wondering how we would take our cars home, hoping that some people would help us ship them home. Expectation was high. The time of delivery came and Westerhof directed us to the corner he said the cars were lined up. We got there and saw toy Mercedez Benz cars lined up. It was such an embarrassing joke that Chukwu warned him never to do such a thing again. We were all disappointed but it was part of him to drill you, exhaust you in training and also entertain you with such jokes that make the place lively. He had humour, he had discipline and he could make you fight like a bull in the field. He gave me the name The Bull.”

I noticed a few things recently in the SE and it's very commendable. Osimhen is actually proving that his value as a player is worthy. He's doing great both club and country, being in the news lately compared to the covid period. You know most of these countries cherish Nigeria not just as a country through our successes in various sectors, they also know about the players (most African countries love football and keep up with games), so they're gaining reputation playing against them thanks to the pitches that is slowing the pace of African football to progress.
Btw so many of us have been saying a lot about the team surviving on individual brilliance and technique, that maybe true. But the most important thing about this team is iwobi, my happiness is that he's settling in well in his fav position. Constant reminder of his bad display is normal but ignoring his influence in the game is so funny.
I also think Yobo is learning a lot from rhor and the way he gets along with the players is something that would be important, I see a good SE coach in him.

Look this is easy. I read the link u pasted. Rohr problem is that he does not understand the average Nigerian player. I read where Moses kpakor from a local clibside marked out the best player from Ivory coast and I smiled.
People here won't believe me but a combination of kelechi nwakali, akinkunmi amoo, chidera ejuke and tosin kehinde will solve our midfield problems. Rohr needs to understand our players and their mentality.
We need maybe a black westerhoof whose mind operates like gim
