This is a good news.

But the FG should have start with NTA so that other private and public TV stations go take them serious.

I might be wrong sha, who dey always watch NTA make dem give me update.

In the last 10 years, I'm not sure have watch NTA for up to 20 mins combine shocked

The government does this already with major news.

Do you ever see CNN, BBC, FOX NEWS or even Aljazeera put up sign language interpreter for their news? Or are you saying that they don't operate from inclusive countries? I wonder how these people generate these mediocre ideas on a daily basis. You want to turn Arise and channels news to NTA, how will that fit into their quality? You're marginalizing a whole region, it's now about 0.05% of Nigeria's population that you now want to include. Shioor!

Fgn, Lai, NBC wants to advice private TV stations on what to do? How laughable. This is the bane of civil servants. People that cannot run businesses yet must regulate them.
See nta. It cannot run to standard despite all the billions pumped into it every year by fgn. Yet them go regulate private TV earning income through advert.
I was at Alimosho lga office at Williams estate the other day. My God, if you see the trash, refuse and dirty environment especially where you have the vio, roadsafety, health offices, you will be shocked. But these lga gov are the same folks regulating sanitation, locking up people's shop, raiding face I face you houses.
Bottomline, leave private businesses alone, instruct ntn to use interpreter, if the local TV see they are losing out to nta, the will get interpreters.

Even the deaf ones that are in peace not hearing the bad news that happens daily in this contraption, you want to force them to hear it,

If you are part of this government that has destroyed the lives of many nigerians today,
You cannot end well. Even the children you are stealing money for will not end well.

Who sign language epp

You're very foolish to say who sign language help, I no blame you. You rate deafs as lesser humans with limited comprehension abi. If you care to know that are many deafs who are more educated, have more degrees and are more talented than you. They deserve to be carried along. Sign language is their "mother tongue" so they need to be kept in the know as well.
Re: FG To Direct All TV Stations To Use Sign Language Interpreters by Darkmode64: 11:19am On Oct 15, 2021
It should interest you to know not all deaf people (highly educated ones for instance) can sign because they can speak fluently having attended normal schools. The notion most Nigerians have that someone who is deaf can also be dumb is a silly one. Transcribing speeches could go a long way as it further promotes reading culture.

@ the emboldened. Not for all deaf people. Some can hold a conversation simply by lipreading. Not all deaf people sign. Get your facts though.

Of course, not all deafs are literate in sign language just like not all hearing persons in Nigeria are literate in English. Hence allowing those literate in sign language benefit from media contents is only fair

I'm not sure you understood my point here. Not all literate deaf can sign! Inasmuch as this would benefit deaf people, one has to learn it. Though, I'm not undermining the initiative as it would go a long way in ensuring people living with certain disabilities are carried along.

I get your point. When I said literate I meant those who understood and could communicate well in sign language. In fact deafs can hardly be literate in other fields without the ability to communicate and understand sign language (there are exceptions though). Special schools for deafs (which is available from Primary to University education) students are basically taught in sign language as well as the use of pictogram. One can hardly acquire a degree if he lacks ability to comprehend and communicate in the language.

undecided
There are terminology to describe these people, calling them deaf and dumb I'd considered offensive.

So which euphemism would you want me to use in place of 'deaf and dumb'?
