So, why did oliseh, Siasia and keshi failed for qualify us for ANC for us to even consider Rohr?? If oliseh and Siasia had done a good job, we won’t had hired rohr
Large man i remember vividly how we failed to qualify for 2006 WC and almost lost out in 2010 with foreign coaches until NFF appointed Shuaibu Amodu and he did a yeoman job.

My man not qualified for Afcon should not always be used as yardstick to measure our local coaches.

The same local coach won us afcon in 2013 and out of our six World cup qualifications three belonged to local coaches...Shuaibu Amodu(2002&2010) though Amodu was denied to lead the team to mundial and Stephen Keshi(2014)

Rohr qualified us for afcon after missing out on two occasions a plus for him but we are above that presently.France failed to qualify for Italian 90 and US 94 but won France 98 world cup.

The fact is this we are struggling with Rohr despite the talents we have in various leagues.

I think you initial post have nailed it all by saying no sound coach would accept treatment being meted on Rohr meaning Rohr see Nigeria as a safe haven.

Truly your post also emphasis on difficulties always face by local coaches on the hand of,NFF which showed that the major issue militigating against Nigeria football is NFF.

Siasia was never given d job on a clean slate..he was hired on a rescue mission when d ship was abt sinking, unfortunately he didn't succeed smiley

He had one duty to beat Guinea in Abuja and we would had qualified but he failed. He also failed to beat Ethiopia at Addis. (I’m speaking in reference to 2012 ANC) the 17 one was oliseh issue

Read the post you quoted again but slowly this time. The bolded (outscoring opponents) was in reference to Siasia's style, especially his Nigerian teams.

And what were you expecting Amunike's Tanzania to achieve at the Afcon in a group that had African Heavyweights in Senegal and Algeria? Did you actually watch them play or you just checked the final scoreline?

So you didn't see the efforts to play on the front foot made by Amunike's Tanzanian teams at Afcon 2019. If they had averagely good Midfielders, they would have done more. Amunike used those inferior talents and still was able to create 3 big chances against Algeria that were squandered. They lost that game 3-0 but what would have been had they taken their chances?

Tanzania didn't have half enough of the talents Amunike needed to make even better impact yet he was able to get them to the Afcon proper after 39 years. Why couldn't any other coach do that for Tanzanian football before him since 1980??

So please, before you criticise Amunike's stint with Tanzania, take the time to actually observe his tactical plays while with them. Rohr with that Tanzanian team could have done far worse and not achieved near half of what Amunike achieved with them. And that is fact from a technical/tactical POV.

Doc.

Same amuneke that coached Tanzania where they concede goals with baskets....his goal during that afcon was to outscore u

We have guys (e.g. Emmanuel David) scoring in Lithuania even right now.

We have Afeez Aremu (Former CHAN Eagles star who shone at the Wafu tournament) starting for FC.St Pauli in Bundesliga 2 and many more to come.

The amount of notifications that drop every club Football Weekend on my gadgets are astonishing. Overwhelming sometimes.. lol

Keeping up with them is fun though... really fun. wink

Scouting Check: Emmanuel Van De Blaak, Dutch-Nigerian Defender

A 16 y/o 2005-born CB.

My interest in him is because he is a Central defender and we lack enough young CBs coming through for us at the moment. Post-2022, we would very likely be without Leon Balogun and "maybe" a Kenneth Omeruo.
We don't want to grow thin in the CB role within 2 years as well.

See Jacek Kulig's reference to @ScoutEredivisie's reports on the lad:

https://footballtalentscout.net/2021/10/13/scouting-report-emmanuel-van-de-blaak-by-raphael-bejczy-scouteredivisie/

P.S: I have already mentioned him to a contact of mine who communicates regularly with Gernot Rohr. It is up to them.

Just doing my part. I see players like these and give them Mentions when I can. But it is up to the coach and his team of scouts and coaches to follow up and follow through.

Alhassan Yusuf returns. Makes Squad for Antwerp's game today

This is one of the few midfield lads that holds great prospects in the CMF dictator role. A real Midfield Machine with brains.

Glad to have him back after over a month away from action.

What does talking about a player playing and arriving late have to do with endurance?

I said, Amunike has high endurance, so you can not give him excuse.

The weather was cold and the players did not have enough cover. So he bought coats for them with the money from FIFA but still wore a plain shirt. Meaning that the players were warmer and could not use cold as an excuse not to prepare.

I am talking with respect of harsh training conditions. I see that vibe from Amunike. I don't get that vibe from Rohr.
Where did endurance come in again. I've been talking about discipline.

in fact, Alaye make we die the matter. It is exhausting already

Yes, his recent performances have been very decent in the DM role. Been keeping good eyes on him and all the others.

His team have started the season well and sit top of the 2nd tier but it's still a long road ahead. The battle for promotion has only begun. Time will tell. wink

The team was mostly made up of the 2005 under 20 finalist with Nsofor and Osaze. It was a solid team. Obasi, Nsofor, Osaze and Anichebe at that tournament was one of the best attacking talent.
Did Isaac Promise deserve to be the captain, in the first place?
Starting him in the final after dropping him in the quarter and semi final cos of his below per performance was criminal!
Like I said earlier, he might be tactically sound but his call ups ... !
Kog45:
Oh you forgot that late Isaac Promise was even the captain and the same guy led the team to the final...did you really gave Siasia 2008 Olympic team a chance.

Bonfrere Jo won Olympic gold with real Super eagles players but Siasia won silver with entirely young ones but here you are criticizing him for not starting very average Anichebe.

The same Siasia went to Rio with no support from NFF and still won bronze.

Pls make we dey praise our own for once.

Did he tell you he will not get a job? I am telling you Finidi George is bigger than Enyimba. Steve Cooper gets to coach Swansea, when a top grade coach like Finidi gets to coach Enyimba.

You think they can't get local jobs? They can do that. Enyimba is not where Finidi should be.

Finidi will definitely be a better tactician than Rhor but he gets to coach Enyimba, while Rhor coaches Super Eagles.

Samson Siasia overall performance with Nigeria national teams showed that nothing wrong with his call ups.

He was very solid with good attacking team and I repeat it again nobody gave him a chance at 2008 Olympic final starting Anichebe was inconsequential cos we lost to a team that had Messi,so give it to him.

Atlanta 96 team were real super eagles with Uche Okechuckwu,Sunday Oliseh,Dan Amokachie,Emma Amuneke,Victor Ikpeba,Austin Okocha all US 94 team with Tijani Babangida who was also member but dropped.Hope you remember that Kanu Nwankwo,Taribo West,Celestine Babayaro,Mobi Oparaku,Wilson Oruma and Garba Lawal were already Super eagles players before Atlanta 96.

My point is this we just need to appreciate our own. What Siasia did in 2008 Olympics Bonfrere Jo cannot do it.

Nobody gave him a chance? He had one of the best team "at that tournament". Only Brazil and Argentina were slightly better.
We could have won if he had started the team that demolished Belgium in the semi final instead, playing Isaac Promise was more important to him. He lacked
those final details.

Samson Siasia first eagles job was a rescue one after Austin Eguavoen failed and second eagles job too was also a rescue one after Sunday Oliseh lost control of the team.

Siasia was never appointed as substantial eagles coach but always call to save already sinking team.
errrm, the first one wasn’t exactly a sinking ship, eguavoen left at 2 games 3 points

Nigeria local coaches should go out like Keshi did with Mali and,Togo before talking about their chances with eagles.

Emma Amuneke failed woefully with Tanzania and coaching eagles is still a milestone for him.

It just a pity Rohr is finding it difficult to turn Nigeria team to a classic team.
Amuneke did not fail at Tanzania . Tanzania qualified for the nation cup for the first time since 1980. Tanzania does not have talented players. What do you expect him to do? Win the tournament?

Hmm Ekong the number one Rohr defender.

Kevin Akpoguma and Awaziem on the bench for Ekong...walahi I no dey understand o.

If I have my way I will never start Ekong over Omeruo even Semi Ajayi...but is Rohr trusted CB.

Special assistant on sports to Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari, Daniel Amokachi, has now come out to reveal Rohr’s contract contains a huge $2 million compensation clause, which in his view is a terrible choice considering how the football body treated indigenous coaches like Sunday Olisey and Emmanuel Amuneke.

“For the administration to bring somebody like Oliseh and not giving him time because he’s Nigerian and they let go,” Amokachi told Brila FM.

“To bring in somebody like Amuneke and not giving him time then they let him go. Then you bring a new coach where those two coaches are far better than him; pedigree-wise and portfolio-wise.

“But still, they gave the machinery a lot of money, $60 plus with all the bonuses, if they play two matches in a month, then you’re talking over $100,000.

“And then at the end of the day, you put a $2m clause on a coach that has never won anything. A coach that came from Burkina Faso to Tunisia then to Nigeria and you put a $2m clause, that’s the first I’m hearing such.

“If you were bringing Guardiola you can put $10m if he says he wants it because you know who he is; he has won laurels. But for a coach that has not done anything, not achieved anything and you put a $2m clause? There’s a lot of failure in that.

“I’ll not rate them (NFF) out of 10, but all these things I’ve broken down will tell anybody with common sense where I’m coming from.”

https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2020/12/daniel-amokachi-blasts-nff-for-allowing-2-million-compensation-clause-in-gernot-rohrs-contract-but-owing-oliseh-and-amuneke.html

But the Nigerian coaches are corrupt and Rhor is Saint Obi.
Amokachi should clear his name of the allegation against him first.

Faby you said we could have won the final with Anichebe and beating Argentina would have been easy with Messi and remember our own talisman Mikel couldn't make it.

I have a question to ask do you remember the last time we beat Argentina in a proper tournament?
