Collected my passport today from Alausa office, 10 years, 64 pages.
100% DIY for renewal.
Started the process August 18, did data capturing on August 26.
Passport was issued on September 1, (just 1 week as opposed to the official 3 weeks).
The only thing was that I never got notification about the passport being ready and if I hadn’t been too lazy to go and check myself, I would have gotten it much earlier.
I can testify that Alausa is DIY-friendly, well, provided that there are no scarcity issues.

Is this how easy the process is normally. And how much did it cost? Did u apply online?

It depends on the Immigration office, you can’t try this with every Immigration office, not all are DIY-friendly. You can check the prices for every passport category on NIS website, it’s 70k for my own category. It was DIY, so yes I applied online

So an immigration woman I met said why it's better to use an agent, is to be able to answer any query that arises. What kinda query... no correct reply. Odiegwu really!

Also the nis portal has a live chat that is quite helpful. You can live chat them if you have queries

3. Local govt certificate
4. 2 passport photographs
5. Guarantors documents: Legalised guarantor form, 1 passport photograph, biodata page of guarantor, ID card of guarantor (e.g NIN slip, drivers license, voters card)

They didn't refund. I put in the ID and reference number and saw that payment was successful. This took like 20minutes from the time of payment.


Meanwhile I have already called them and they told me to send certain details to their email.

I want to start the renewal process of my stolen passport but on the application form, no option to specify that it is for renewal of stolen passport.

The information I'm seeing is biodata, next of Kin, address, contact information, passport processing office, passport booklet type. No option to select renewal of stolen passport.

Please your assistance would be highly appreciated.

very reliable.. choose normal process which is 6 weeks or fast track which is a week

minor needs data page of both parents intl ppt and nin of one parent to get a ppt in Abuja, Lagos and ph.. minor also needs own NIN even if 1 hour old baby.. check the site for the rest of the documents or read this thread.. dnt know the requiremnts for other states

However, the woman said this one I didn't do change of name, that e no go work. She shaa collected the thing and said I will bring them for capturing in Dec. I just smiled and left.

Cos all the names on my passport are on my NIN slip, while my NIN slip contains more.

I think it should match. Even DOBs(even though it's not shown on the NIN but they check the portal) I am not really sure

When I go for capturing, I'd ask... if you haven't gone before then.

By DIY, you mean doing all the online application yourself and perfecting the documentations, paying to the specified accounts and just coming for capturing at Alausa ?

Capturing: July 16
Passport Office: Warri
Collection date: October 18 (today)

Well, it took me 3 months to get this booklet. I was called to pickup the passport last Monday, but I couldn’t make it. As at today, only those that captured in July are expected to come for collection in Warri office.
