1992-1993. Watching the likes of Amokachi, Yekini, Edema fuludu, Stephen keshi, Ajibade babalade and co donning the jersey then was cool. Especially, Amokachi with his 'punk' hairstyle.
Seeing Agboola in that Jersey is orgasmic.

You dont know the meaning of squad rotation?
Jota was signed as back up for the from three... that much is clear....

Again, your argument doesn't hold any water, because like I said, neither Firmino nor Jota are 18 yard box strikers.. They don't even play as strikers...they are false9s..The goalscoring burden doesn't rest on them because Klopp isn't the type of rigid old school coach that subscribe to the idea of depending on your centre forwards for goals.... Even Origi isn't being used as a striker...
So Jota is no longer a midfielder? I didn't tell you any type of striker Jota is but at some point Firmino was not producing the goods and Jota had to replace him, Finito

2022 World Cup Final Playoffs: Egypt threatens S/Eagles top seeding
The Sun News
Omeruo, Troost- Ekong glad to reunite with teammates
Egypt are posing a big threat to the Super Eagles enjoying top seeding for the 2022 World Cup final playoffs should both teams advance to that stage of the qualifiers.

By the latest FIFA Ranking, the Eagles have dropped to 36th, which still keeps them in the Top 5 in Africa, while Egypt have made up some grounds as they are now 44th and their recorded points (1448,78) are just marginally below that of Nigeria (1478,17).

Incidentally, both teams are also drawn in the same group for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon next year and they will do battle in their opening group game.

The draw for the final playoffs for the 2022 World Cup will be staged in Doha, Qatar, on December 18.

The overall winners of the 10 qualifying groups will battle for the five spots reserved for Africa on a knockout basis.

The draw will see the Top 5 ranked teams going by the FIFA Ranking at that point in time seeded and they will also play their return leg at home.

Currently, the Top 5 teams are Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and Nigeria in that order.

The likes of Egypt, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire are so far outside the Top 5.

Enyimba fc coach, Finidi George sounds very tactically sound and confident of his knowledge of the game. His analytical skills are great. I think it's a great opportunity for him to prove himself.

They play the return leg on Sunday.

If you are interested in knowing what Amunike is up to now.

When Emmanuel Amuneke received an invitation to be a part of the FIFA Technical Study Group to discuss the future of football and its proposal of holding the World Cup every two years, it was not difficult to accept.

The former Tanzania national team coach had always respected Arsene Wenger, the legendary former Arsenal manager and now FIFA's chief of global football development.

The idea of a biennial World Cup of 48 teams "to give every talent a chance," as promoted by Wenger, impressed him. The former Barcelona and Nigeria winger played in his sole World Cup in 1994 but was injured when the Super Eagles returned to the tournament four years later.

The 1994 African Footballer of the Year believes it is time for the football industry to leave its comfort zone and explore changes that could grow the game beyond its current state.

I know we generally resist change but they should leave this world cup as a four year interval event that it is currently. We have a smorgasbord of footballing event to slake our appetites while waiting for global football festival that is the WC. 48 teams? maybe yes, biennial event? No!

The problem is when some think that the more frequently they hold it, African countries etc will come up.
if they like make them hold am every year, any country that is not serious will continue to be where they are.

Watching Euro 2020, I realized that the quality of European football is stellar while ours is drab. The solution is not to water down the WC just so African countries or any other low quality football countries can catch up. Deep investments in football needs to be done.

Haaland having more goals than Osi does not mean he is a better player!
Awoniyi has 5 non-penalty Bundesliga goals playing for a mid-table team while Haaland has 7.
Who says Awoniyi can't score as much as Haaland playing for Dortmund?
Notably, Haaland is the striker with the most shot on/off-target in the world.
This simply means that he gets the most passes in the attacking area than any other striker in the world!
Unfortunately, the story is not the same with Napoli's creative players.
Osi feeds on scraps yet he has 5 seria A goals!
Therefore, in what aspect is Haaland is better than Osi? Hold up, dribble, shooting, passing, heading, jumping?
Suddenly Napoli players are scrap just because you wanna make a point

I am happy for awoniyi and I hope he continues scoring ,whats the big deal there if awoniyi is just 2 goals behind Haaland say awoniyi no get 2 legs ?

Haaland scored 27 bundesliga goals last season and only 2 where PK ,giving you this info before you will bring another agenda saying must of his goals are from pk

Pk or no pk goal nah goal ,Na here we Dey pray make Napoli give their PK to osimhen so him goals go Dey Increase since insigne don Dey too miss

Most shot on and off target means nothing oga ,you don’t need to down rate Napoli players because you wanna make point with osimhen

I never knew Napoli players are ekuke till today grin

Una no go allow Players blow fess, una go blow their trumpet pass Heaven. Folks ain't gonna learn on this Board.

Osimhen is a fine Player. He's still developing and we should hope he blow past his potentials. Comparing him to Haaland is a big NO, coz the latter is far better than him at the moment.

Haaland of all Strikers? If Haaland is a Nigerian, I am sure he won't be nicknamed Monster Machine but black panther or Nuclear Bomber.

Let's take it easy with our Lads. Iheanacho was once nicknamed hybrid of Messi and CR7, we know what's up today.
He is a good striker but I don't think he's better than Haaland. That's a stretch. What usually happens is that potential and possibilities for growth are taken as present realities and used to judge a player in comparison to others who are clearly their betters. I remember the debates that raged here on Kelechi and Mbappe. Then it was clear that Mbappe was the better of the two, yet for nationalistic reasons, KC was being compared to him. Well, time has sorted out that argument. Osimhen will not be like KC (cos ultimately the progress of our players is the progress of our team)

Osimhen has huge potentials and is showing that he can become great but he's not there yet, he's not in the bracket of Haaland regardless of who is the more complete striker or not.

It will not work that way. Understand that European football is developed because there's an ecosystem of already developed sectors supporting it: transportation, hotels, security, medical facilities, energy, court system etc.

The truth is that football cannot develop in isolation of the general economy. So my talking about investing in football is really about all round economic development of other critical sectors.

There are two sides of the same coin. There is something or several things a player has over the other. It's more about the one you want to run with. You focus on the narrative that suits your preference. That said, this is a Super Eagles thread, so we can choose to focus on the stats/qualities that favors our own. But yet again we have club fanatics on here, so we should expect these kind of arguments to happen from time to time.

TheGoodJoe:

You people are fond of misconceptions. I really don't know how else people can pass messages with you people failing to understand simple things.

Guardiola might prefer Osimhen due to some of his different attributes.

You people will interpret it as Guardiola prefers Osimhen.

Iheanacho is a better finisher than Mbappe. That is Iheanacho is deadlier in the box.

You people will interpret it as Iheanacho is better than Mbappe.

Osimhen has qualities that can make a coach want him ahead of Haaland.

You people will interpret it as Osimhen is better than Haaland.

The problem is comprehension skills. Many people miss basic points.

You guys are always quick to abandon the point.

TheSuperNerd took time to explain his point and to a huge extent I will agree with him.

Keep in mind I have been repping Haaland since his Salzburg days.

Haaland is a freak of nature. Sometimes I feel he was cloned in a lab. He does a lot of things to perfection. He runs at record speeds effortlessly. Finishes balls from impossible angles with ease.

However, the talk is about other attributes being brought to the table. Osimhen's work rate around the offensive area is brilliant. Also, his defending is crazy. That is why I believe Guardiola will want to fight for him.

These extra attributes will make some prefer Osimhen to Haaland.

It is just like when Pellegrini said he preferred Riquelme to Ronaldhino. That was due to attributes.
I think it is disingenuous to talk about any other thing when the argument is on who is a better finisher between two strikers.
When the argument is on who is a better footballer between the two, then other qualities can be mentioned.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:30pm On Oct 19, 2021
I think the euphoria around Osimhen is not necessarily his value but the change in value in a short time. He is the one that is talked about around town. It's just like a hot album that makes a big move up the the charts. It's staying power will determine the end narrative. So we wait as the season progresses. But right now this album is being played over the world, in every radio. There is a new R&B star, but will he win the grammies next year? Will this new album continue to sell after a year or so? How would he fair against other artistes now and in the future? These are unanswered questions. But he has fans who like fans of Usher at a time believed he was better than MJ. Or think Trey Songz versus R.kelly. Or they may not say that outright but focus on aspects that their idol is better. That's normal with a star who is hot at the moment. So don't stop the record. Let the music play on.
