They can request for PIN even when you're buying airtime on your line, because that's exactly what the criminals do.
They buy airtime through your bank to your line since there's no prompt for PIN, after that they send it the airtime to another number.

Many people prefer the convenience of loading airtime on their OWN lines without having to input a pin every now and then. Why don't these people who lose their phones use a pin to lock their phone and sims in the first place?

Bro it happens
Upper iweka is a case study.
Onitsha, upper iweka, boys will pin you down on broad day light, even passer-by won't intervene.

That's crazy but this is Lagos. I never knew it has gotten to that stage.

Well, it seems that side that you can board bus to Egbeda in Computer Village is known for notoriety. I boarded a bus sometimes last month there and I was watching YouTube videos. I was sitting by the window side. It was around past 7 or almost 8 in the evening. The driver asked me to keep my phone except maybe I want it to be snatched by petty thieves.

It was until we left that side that I could bring it out and continued watching my video.

Are you sure you are okay? " He was taught a lesson everyone in lagos should learn" are you really serious about it? I'm sure you know how he got robbed. Is it a good thing to got robbed in a sane country?

Lagos is notorious for pick pockets. If you dont know, better do now.
They are everywhere in all Lagos's market and bus stops.

Even the security agents cannot eradicate them. They are like touts in every motor parks collecting illegal fees and you see police standing right there watching.

Get the point.

Nigerian banks are just too useless. People have been complaining about thieves using their stolen SIM card to purchase airtime but till now they've refused to do anything about it.
What was banks suppose to do? Stop you from making transaction with your sim?
How was bank supposed to know the transaction is being carried out by criminals?

The banks and internet has done what is expected, which is for you customers to put a pin on your sim card and avoid saving any of your banks details on your phones. Pass-wording your sim is as important as pass-wording your phone.

Banks are not magicians to know transactions coming from a criminal and the genuine owner....

Didn’t you read the part where he said he was ATTACKED AND PINNED DOWN?

I dont like replying miscreants like you.
Didn't you see " sorry for your loss in my reply"?

And what has computer village go to do with the story he narrated?

This happened at Ikeja under the bridge or along Awolowo way.

Was his phone picked inside the technology market?

Most of the boys that steal phones around ikeja and computer village can be found at no 3, Shanu street ikeja. If you can get security operatives there I'm sure you'll find your phone. I stayed around that environment a while ago so I know.
but I got operatives that escorted me to ikpodo and I couldn't still locate my attackers in 2017

You know what to do but you don't want to do it. Police is your best bet, they will collect money from you but once your phone is found, you will collect your phone and the money you have spent back from the thieves. Go to police, no any other way around it

Please don't listen to this man. Oga how can you advice him to go to the police? They will only collect money from you and you won't get any result Trust me. Just let it go and count your losses instead of letting the police add to your misery. This is coming from someone who was trying to track someone who absconded with my money. The biggest mistake I made was involving the police. I provided vital informations like his two phone numbers that still connects till date, his bank details(incase they want to track him through the bank). Yet no result. The only thing that changed with the person was that he moved out of the neighbourhood he was staying yet the police couldn't find him although I'm quite sure they just collected my money and did nothing. The money I gave the police was lesser than the one I was hoping to retrieve but it was the one that hurts most when I lost it to the police. That is why you should just let it go because the police is not going to help you

So it's until you get defrauded, robbed, or cheated that you that makes you a "proper Lagosian"? Be deceiving yourself. Most people that do get defrauded and cheated in Computer Village are those that are greedy. You can't be greedy and expect good result.

Everyone knows how dubious most guys are in Computer Village but still, many would still go ahead to buy phones from the street urchins advertising high-end phones at a very ridiculous cheap prices. I don't pity the victims of any foul play at Computer Village.

you have ur points chief, the bottom line is, what ever the reason u chose to patronize something from computer village, u go sharp once dem run u street.

abi was it not from this same computer village a nairalander bought an iphone from a shop that don jazzzy is even following online only for him to get home and his bro told him the phone isnt genuine, involved police, and the big man owner of the shop settled the police right in front of the nairalander, only for them to replace the phone with another one and his bro still informed him that the second replacement is same as the first...that was when he cried to nairalanders for suggestion.

he wasnt greedy, he went to a reputable shop to buy phone, if he dint have a bro thats into phones and know about phones, he wouldnt have known the phone is not genuine

sending airtime from one phone to another still require a pin except that you are first timer of airtime transfer, otherwise they won't be able to transfer the airtime out

Bro, as far as Computer Village is concerned and you don't have a trusted gadgets seller. It's more ideal to go to a reputable stores like SLOT, 3CHub or any phone brand stores there. It's better I pay high for a gadget at a reputable store than pay less at a regular shop/store just because of price.

Don Jazzy is a human before he became a celebrity so he can choose to follow whosoever he want on social media without even knowing the person or brand. Following a store or brand doesn't mean he's endorsed the brand. There's difference.

I don't know how these criminals do it, but they usually call the network provider to change the transfer PIN. I remember when my phone got stolen, they actually changed my PIN.
