Its not out of place,its called(KYC) 'know your customer' Before an account can be upgraded an agent is suppose to visit the address of the account holder 4verification which would be stated in his report...but most times some agent are reluctant and choose to get d information frm d account holder 4his/her report

It is a must for tier 2 account upward. Maybe you are still using those accounts that don't require any ID card before opening (ie tier 1)

banks have even gone beyond KYC (Know Your Customer), now they are implementing KYCB (Know Your Customer's Business)

I also thought as much, the bank has absolutely no right in knowing the exact description of your house, what are they coming to visit you for? Except you are taking a loan from them, that is absolute violation of privacy. Just provide a valid residential address, if you are staying there or not it's non of their business.

Again the banker is gonna write visitation report of the customer. The color of the building, the gate and all those details are for visitation report because the banker is so lazy to go and see things by himself.

It is a regulatory requirement. If you use that account to commit fraud and declared wanted by law enforcement agents, the bank and the account officer must be able to take the law enforcement agents to that address and if you are at large, they must confirm that you were resident in that address at the point of account opening/update

They were interested in his address and the lady even asked "if one needs to find you, is this the address that will work?"

At the marketing room he told me he was asked the description of the building he resides in like the color, bungalow or story, gate colour

So to those who are enlightened on this, my question is why is such information needed especially the details of his residence?.

They need to know where they can catch you in case you use the account to commit fraudulent act. You can rent an apartment that you do not live there for proof of address if you want to do yahoo with the account. I am suspecting you.

KYC is now outsourced to the best of my knowledge. The RM probably needs the information for the agent. That way they don’t claim they didn’t find the house. I’ll be shocked if any bank is still putting their RMs through such an ordeal in 2021.
