Maxymilliano:
Yeah, Pastor W.F Kumuyi is different because he advised Nigerians to continually pray for its leaders even in the face of glaring ineptitude and cluelessness, particularly from the Presidency.

I wondered if there would have been a country for Buhari to govern if all "men of God" had been keeping silence over the years.

Kumuyi's failure to hit the nail on the head doesn't change the fact that Buhari is a monumental failure cool
speaking out the truth doesn't mean hatred to those in authority

Using your platform to ask the presidency to awake to its responsibilities in providing security or development relevant to the people's need is not disdaining or hating those in power. Using your platform to remind the presidency of its promises during the election and how much it has failed in fulfilling the promises is not disdaining or hating those in power.

Not doing so, is hating the downtrodden and the people who cannot afford the lives of splendour that you live. It's hating those who cannot afford the private jets that you have or the armed guards that you possess, it's condemning them to death by bandits.

Jesus Christ spoke to power, and he was on the blacklist of several authorities(political and religious authorities) in his time, and he was eventually executed in a brutal manner because of his actions and words.

He denounced religious authorities (the pharisees), he overturned the temple that has become a money making venture, he sheltered prostitutes.

Speaking up to the presidency or urging the presidency to remember the downtrodden is an act of love, rebuking the presidency for not doing enough to protect Nigerians is not disdaining or hating the presidency, but an act of love for those who are most susceptible to murder and kidnap, which is the rest of us.

It's irresponsible to equate speaking out about corruption, weakening economy, insecurity and a load of cardinal others, it's irresponsible and an evidence of depravity or bereavement of compassion- to equate such to hatred.

Christ also had hatred within him; Christ had hatred for injustice, Christ had hatred for sin... but he only had love for the sinners and the downtrodden. But our bishops do not seek to follow the footsteps of Christ. They want to be in the good books of the authorities, they are scared that if they speak out, they may be investigated and their financial improprieties exposed, they are afraid if they defend the downtrodden, the positions of power they hold may be withdrawn; it would seem the positions of power is not from Christ, that they would abandon Christ teachings in order to be legitimised by a corrupt and inefficient, 'murderous' administration.

When Jesus told us to give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's due, he meant that we should fulfil our civic duties or responsibilities as good citizens. And what greater civic duty can we have than speaking out when we see many murdered by the cops in extra-judicial killings, when we see many suffering and hungry, when our roads are highways to hell... what greater civic duty can we have than speaking out, than by admonishing this administration to awake to its duties?

Apostle Paul in Romans 13: 7 wrote, 'we must pay the administration what is owed'... and what is owed this administration is genuine truth, a conveyance of tiredness of the state of a nation in disarray....but of coz if the nation is not in disarray, and there is no poverty or hunger or unemployment or diseases, how many would be in this gigantic churches that don't care about them, but only their pockets?

It is upon the shoulders and back of those most displaced by the administration inefficiency that the foundations of several churches have turned. The poor is told to give all they have as offerings in order for Gods blessing, the bishops takes this, and live affluently ever after... while the poor remains unfortunate..., the bishop breaks bread with those that have caused the misfortune... so it will seem the Bishop also have an interest in the disarray state of the nation, because it is the source of their affluence. Most of the prayers in our churches would not be in a nation that has the right leadership and where things work.

May the spirit of Christ be in the Church.
Well said.

You think W.F.Kumuyi has time for the things of the world? That man wants to go to heaven and nothing will stop him. Nigeria is hard enough, he doesn't want to soil his holiness level so hr avoids politics or politics talks like hell. As far as I'm concerned, W.F Kumuyi and a few others like Gbile Akani in Gboko are about the remaining real MOGs in Nigeria, the rest ate business men. Before u quote me, I am not a member of his church. I attend LFC but our pastors over here are concerned with how to be rich, all of us don forget say heaven is important. Make we dey run am dey go, me I want to be rich here on earth too , cos poverty no dey heaven.. Lol

Mr Femi adeshina is only doing his usual habit of telling and picking stories to defend the failure and woeful performance of his pay master, just working for his money.

Femi please leave Jesus Christ and the ministry of christian faith out of what is happening now.

Many ministers, political or social leaders are afraid to speak the truth to the government today for their safety and selfish interest.

Kumuyi spoke against Jonathan and even campaigned against him, what did you say then.
You, Femi also spoke against Jonathan, where you not a pastor then?.

We easily forget our yesterday thinking it is past and forgotten, but no it leaves with us and after us.

I feel ashamed when I read from you these days knowing what your column in the sun newspaper then spoke about. I wonder how you reconcile the dual personalities.

You can never fool us anymore, we now know you and your brand of christian faith and personal practice.

Thank God it is JESUS that will judge everyone of us.
Ride on and have your fun and gain at the expense of the common man

Some of our churches leaders are making a mistake when it comes to issue of governance. There was bad government during Jesus christ but he never confront the government. We have people with responsibility of calling government to order but definitely not churches.

were there no prophets in the Bible who spoke against Kings when they went astray? Some prophets even went as far as professing punitive judgements on such rulers. If kumuyi does not desire to speak against the oppressors of his members that is his own decision but he should stop trying to make it seem as if to do so is unchristian.
Tell me one of
the new testament prophets that spoke against any ruler, even Paul the apostle that spoke against the errant high priest unknowingly has to apologize even after he was slapped.

I have already lost my respect for kumuyi since 2019 undecided . i can remember during the build of the 2015 election kumuyi refused to welcome the president of Nigeria to his church in the name of 'he does not give politicians his pulpit'. Honestly I didn't make much out of that but respected his opinion. But to my greatest suprise this kumuyi visited buhari during the build up of 2019 election. When I saw this I bled in my heart. So because Jonathan is a kind hearted man Mr kumuyi humiliated him like that because he knows that there will be no repercussions. But look at how he suddenly changed mouth when it was buhari. That action made me lose respect for him and I don't want to believe he is a tribalist

Mr man JESUS spoke boldly and openly against the evil rulers, he condemned the scribes and pharisees and rulers of the council, the Sanhedrin for their wickedness and iniquity.

Any christian leader who is not doing that is not following Christ example.

People like archbishop Desmond tutu, Pope John Paul 11, cardinal Anthony okogie etc spoke out boldly and are good examples

Kumuyi should chill with his holier than thou attitude. Even prophets in the bible spoke against injustice and many ills

As christians when we see evil we should always speak out else we become an enabler.

Buhari failed and is still failing and needs people who will tell it to him to his face or maybe kumuyi is still being carried away by buharis fake integrity.
Touché!

“We talk of the hours of recession, difficulty, distress and all that, but God is granting us His promises. We are not going to carry over our problems,” Kumuyi said.
“We pray and believe that the Lord will answer.
“As you will see, as we get to the New Year, there is no carryover of our problems. God will give solutions to the problems of our lives, families, communities, the state and our nation”, he stated.
He also added that “God created us and wants everything to be sufficient for everybody”.
