I have always seen and known Nairaland as where ideas and solutions come from very matured and experienced members hence my bringing this topic here for advice.

I currently have a job though not paying very well but I enjoy the flexibility it offers.
I work 8am to 12noon Monday to Thursday having Friday and the weekends to myself.

I am very enthusiastic about learning digital skills especially Data Science and saving up for that hoping to start in the first week of January.

Please I need suggestions on what things I can do to get money in this my 'free period' pending when I am able to start my digital trainings.

All suggestions are appreciated no matter how crude as I am ready for anything not illegal to better my currently battered financial state.

NB: Location is Lagos

If you are looking for a skill that won't take you much time to learn and be earning the first day you start learning it and you can do at the comfort of your home, then I will say go for affiliate marketing, then you can now add your data science or analytics to it come January.

By affiliate marketing ( I mean selling other people products).

If you are interested, you can check my signature for my contact ( WhatsApp and Call). I will send you a link on how you can start selling digital products mostly.

Yes, you can manage it to your schedule.
On the average, you need about 4hrs per week for the McKinsey Forward program and an hour per day for the World Quant University Data Science program. I guess the next cohort for the Data Science course starts in the first week of January or so while application deadline is December.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate. God bless you richly

Btw, one differentiating factor about the World Quant University is that they do have OFFICE Hours about thrice every week for the duration of the program. That's an opportunity to ask for clarification from your instructor if there's anything you don't understand. I like I typed earlier on, it's totally free and a verifiable certificate will be issued upon completion of the program.

You can get further information online.

Do you have a laptop? If you have one, you can do a lot of things with it. You can start learning Data Science on your own before your digital trainings start. Learn basic to advanced Excel, then PowerBI or Tableau. The remaining things like Python and SQL can be learnt during your advanced program. There are a lot of free learning resources online. You just need to cut off social media and other distractions.
You can learn Data Science from some Nigerian programs like Data Science Nigeria, Twicher, Technidus etc.

Thanks. I will look into those available options and will surely key into them

As for the money aspect, if you have a laptop you can freelance on platforms like Upwork and Fiverr for money.

https://www.nairaland.com/2594236/elance.com-upwork.com-other-freelancing-site

You can also save up some money to start trading crypto on the side.

Or you could teach children tutorials in the evenings since you are usually free then.

Meanwhile, I deliver PC Games all over Nigeria. Over 11 TB of PC games available.

If you really have interest in Data Science as you stated, I did recommend World Quant University to you. They have a very comprehensive syllabus covering almost everything that you need to kick start your Data Science journey but you must be ready to work hard. The good thing is that it's free.

You can also apply for the McKinsey and Company Forward Africa Program, it's currently open now and it's free.

I can assure you that you did be better off if you are able to complete these two programs by 2022 Q1.

Please can you provide me more details of this? Do you mind if I send you a PM?

Bro while I read your post I smiled to my self because I can understand this situation perfectly, I was in similar position with my finances up on till last year , I had my regular job but ends did not meet as I had hopes for. But things started happening for me when I stumbled on a powerful yet money making and skill acquisition venture. Truth is you can still do your present job while you use this as a means of acquiring skills and improve your income. If interested reach me on WhatsApp 08065879915

Dear mods,

The tolerance for this guy's constant nuisance, under the guise of freedom of expression, on this platform is becoming grossly unchecked.

Please, before you find a fault in my call out as an act of defamation or revile, kindly review the possible ripple effect of such statement as this, which almost always forms all his line of thought and expression here.

Just consider some of the things his constant texts are capable of:

- The amount of people he'd have unwittingly put in the way of fraud.
- National displeasure and perception to foreigners who use this platform and would think all of us share his ideologies, with the massive likes and support he gains.
- The young community of NL users who are given to weak stance and can pick up vices easily.
- Support of intelligence-empty and societally harmful contribution as people would continue to give poorly thought advice.
- In fact, if bad reviews are assigned to NL anywhere, then it's because of people like him (that steal the inherent sanity).

Meanwhile, Mr Slawormir, kindly allow me to ask what you have gained for brandishing crime to us. Essentially, you'd not die nor derank if you continue to enjoy your ill money alone in your peaceful boundaries and not sell out crime to those in our society who are possibly hardworking-inclined. Please, avoid the urge to see this in a libelous or defamatory light - in fact, I'd never have noticed your conscious effort of generous fraud advertisement if you weren't regularly on 1st pages.

At length, if I get banned for generating this kind of awareness, then I'm in peace with posterity and mind-peace for my quota in crime-free society participation.
