Is This Right? by Mummytoo: 5:53am On Nov 11, 2021 |
Hello nairalanders Now this is very common where I come from, when a man is dating a girl, everyone calls her his girlfriend, but immediately they notice that she is pregnant, almost everyone automatically changes the word "girlfriend" to "wife" they start calling her our wife without paying any bride price. And they feel very comfortable doing that, most couples pay dowry when they are old and some don't even pay at all. I don't feel comfortable calling someone's girlfriend "our wife" just because she has kids for him. That's where some people argue with me, that is only natural for me to follow suit, I said I won't. Elders and pastors in the house, is it right to call a girlfriend - "wife" ? Does the Bible accept that? |
Re: Is This Right? by Nobody: 6:09am On Nov 11, 2021 |
It's not right but society has made it seem like it's right over time and everyone has consciously or unconsciously followed suit. Though for me I don't fall for such as i still try to let them know they are not wifes yet until the marriage rites are performed and they are officially declared man and wife. It's so rampant these days and it's so bad how majority have come to accept such shameful practice and are trying to make it a norm. |

Baby mamas dey do Child dedication for Church now. Westernisation is playing pranks on Africans. A woman will get pregnant without knowing the father of the child, yet the society will applaud and celebrate her. 3 Likes |

Mummytoo:Have you ever actually read God's declaration as far as marriage is concerned? You can find this in Genesis 2 vs 24 and Matthew 19 vs 4 - 5, and in both places, the only stipulation as far as the marriage contract is concerned is that a man abandon his family, and cleave to his wife - they both become one at that. A marriage contract is an agreement made between a man and a woman, and so the moment a man and a woman decide to mate/cleave/join , they become man and wife according to God's own Law. God no send anyone to get parent permission or pay bride price or even all the other kwekwe ceremonies we dey add everyday to make money from marriage, - including the ones in your churches - all that are man-made ideas and inclusions which have nothing to do with God at all. So, in conclusion, if you really care about what God says, then yes, even a baby mama is indeed a wife since she and the man had to have cleaved in order to conceive that child. 4 Likes |

Bride price or no Bride price once a man and a woman agrees and start living together, having children and do everything husbands and wives do. They are husband and wife. 1 Like |

Kobojunkie:I've heard a preacher say this. He said "the reason many girls remain "single" for long t is that they are already in marriage and are still praying for marriage" You can't be doing everything a wife does, enjoying all the benefits that comes with marriage and claim to be single..... that's hypocrisy. |
Re: Is This Right? by MRDEE01: 6:55am On Nov 11, 2021 |
It is wrong.
How can you colloby a woman you didn't pay for. |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 6:59am On Nov 11, 2021 |
shortgun:The preacher isn't entirely correct though. Even the men and women in those circumstances can still pray for another marriage to come for them afterall God's Law does not disapprove of polygamy and polyandry, this by the very same Laws. |
Re: Is This Right? by shortgun(m): 7:05am On Nov 11, 2021 |
Kobojunkie:Polygamy yes but polyandry I don't think so. Never read anywhere God permits polyandry. |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 7:08am On Nov 11, 2021 |
shortgun:The very same law that permit polygamy also permits polyandry- Genesis 2 vs 24 and Matthew 18 vs 4- 6 |
Re: Is This Right? by shortgun(m): 7:17am On Nov 11, 2021 |
Kobojunkie:The verses you posted did not mention anything about polyandry...I was really hopeful to learn something new. 1 Like |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 7:21am On Nov 11, 2021 |
shortgun:Neither do they mention polygamy at all, did you not notice that as well? Yet, this one law is the Law on which God defined marriage as a contract, an agreement between a man and a woman. The beauty of this is He defined one union by it but God never limits any man or woman to one union. In fact. In Matthew 19, Jesus Christ makes it know that marriage is a choice, opening up the case of individuals engaging in zero or more unions. |

Mummytoo: Marriage is beautiful. Once the man is committed to the woman in this case, you should let them be. It's not fair to demean the woman alone since they're both in the same boat. The next thing is to encourage them to do the necessary ceremony to satisfy people like you. |

Kobojunkie: What kind of rubbish interpretation of scriptures is this one?? Gen. 2:24 A man ((singular)) will leave his father ((singular)) and mother((singular)), and cleave to his wife((singular))... It didn't say men or father's or mother's or wives... Those are all plural but in scriptures it was clearly stated in singular!!! Oga go and read the Hebrew ((original)) meaning of those words and have small sense.... Stop misleading people with your comments... 1 Like |

Kobojunkie: OK, I get your point, so if she is not pregnant, she is a girlfriend, but ones she's pregnant she changes to wife |

Kobojunkie: I don't even know where to start making sense out of this rubbish you up here. You better check into a mental home before all the nuts in your brain loosen off completely. Imagine the bold error and nonsense! |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 4:20pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Favfables1:Original meaning of the word cleave? What in the world are you talking of now? |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 4:26pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Favfables1:I am not misleading anyone. Instead you are the one desperately trying to specially interpret what is written here so you can justify that which even God Himself never in fact said. According to those verses, a marriage contract is an agreement between one man and one women - a union. However, God never said a man or woman can only enter into one such union. This we see as several times in the same Bible, God Himself provided many wives for some of his own servants multiple unions. And the same Bible, Jesus Christ also informed us that God also created those who are meant to enter into No union at all- the Eunuchs. Did God lie? Did God change His mind? |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 4:31pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Mummytoo:Not correct! So long as they live as husband and wife do, they are already husband and wife, this according to God's own law on marriage. And if you look carefully, God doesn't define the how of it as He leaves that up to the couple to decide. We are the ones who are stuck on trying to decide what term should apply when. God's Law does not say anything about that at all. The Law says so long as the two of them agree and are joined, they are one.. |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 4:32pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
mastermaestro:Take your own advice there. When you are ready to point out this so-called bold error and nonsense your eyes claims to see, let me know then. |
Re: Is This Right? by Saintmary(f): 5:18pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Mummytoo: I typed hastily, I get. You see, what people do with their lives and marriages or the lack thereof is none of your business, as long as: 1. You're not funding them 2. They didn't come to you begging. If you can't relate with them because you don't know the title to use, face front. |
Re: Is This Right? by Nobody: 5:48pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: The Bible was first written in Hebrew and Greek... What we see as "English Version" is just a translation of the Bible from the above languages... And if you have any idea at all with those languages ((which I doubt you have any)) you'd realize that, one word in Hebrew can mean different things depending on the context in which it is used... Read it up ((I doubt you will )) and I sincerely, sincerely, SINCERELY hope that you understand... |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 5:50pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Favfables1:Again.....Original meaning of the word cleave? What in the world are you talking of now? If you feel there is another meaning that ought to apply instead of the one I have used there, present it so we can get to the point here. |
Re: Is This Right? by Nobody: 5:56pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Read it up... |
Re: Is This Right? by Kobojunkie: 5:58pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Favfables1:I don't need to though. You are the one who clearly has a problem with the word as used here. So either you tell us what you believe it ought to say instead or I take it you are just here seeking attention for the sake of it. |
Re: Is This Right? by Nobody: 6:12pm On Nov 11, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: 1. Then continue in your ignorance, since reading and expanding your knowledge is such a huge task 2. Nahhhhhhh... I only have a problem with the fact that your incorrect interpretation is misleading 3. Tell us?? My dear, don't hide behind the crowd , "US" didn't post it, "YOU" did, so take responsibility for your post ((this one is seeking public validation...hmm...)) 4. Haha!!! Seek attention from people I may never meet in real life, of what is use it that?? Or is that the motivation behind your post... interesting |

In the early times, before man invented marriage ceremonies, once you've gone in (slept) with a maiden, you are obligated to be with her. According to God's laws, she becomes your wife. I believe it is still valid till today. 1 Like |
