A hit-and-run driver, Itoro Clement has confessed to knocking down the missing Vanguard reporter, Tordue Salem.

Salem had been declared missing since October 13.

Parading the suspect on Friday at the IRT premises in Abuja, Itoro said he hit Salem at the Mabushi area on October 13 and sped off.

Hmmm..so if it was hit and run why did it take. A whole month to discover the body? This story doesnt even add up one bit ...Are they saying a hit and run corpse was lying on a road inside Abuja for a whole month and nobody noticed ?

Trying to understand this is giving me headache.
Lets say he was the only car on the road so no one saw the accident happening. But then, the body must have been left lying on the road where people pass through, or other cars pass through, and nobody saw it to report or raise alarm, because if the body had been deposited in a morgue, it wouldn't take more than 2 days to be discovered

If true, he should have been honourable enough to take him to the hospital. Why flee the accident scene? I understand that panic and fear of Nigerian Police is a thing, but this is a human being, not a goat or Buhari’s cow.

So how did the body end up in a bush or missing for a month?

The Police have arrested a commercial driver suspected to be responsible for the death of a Vanguard Journalist, Tordue Salem.

The suspect, a 29-year-old commercial driver, Itoro Clement was paraded on Friday in Abuja.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba said Clement was arrested following an investigation carried out by the Force Intelligence Bureau.

He said Clement who was driving a 2004 Model Camry with number plate BWR 243 BK confessed to having hit Tordue at about 10:00 pm on the night of 13th October 2021, around Mabushi area in Abuja but ran away.

The driver, during interrogation, said, “I thought it was an armed robber that I knocked down until the following day when I saw a smashed phone on my windscreen. The phone was not working again so I threw it away.”

Explaining why he did not wait after the accident; Clement claimed that the area where the incident occurred is notorious for criminal activities.

“The place I knocked this person down, is a criminal place everybody knows that place,” he said.

Salem’s body was found on Thursday, November 11, more than a month after he went missing.

An indigene of Benue State, Salem covers the House of Representatives and was last seen on October 13, 2021, a situation that led to protest and agitation by Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja.

I was about asking same question but the more important question is , how was the suspect tied to the crime.
It's obvious someone powerful is using the police to deflect from the obvious cause of his death.

The police hasn’t even said how or where they found it.

It’s funny that they found the body yesterday and today they found the so called killer after almost a month. No information or explanation on anything factual just staged presentations.

Nigerians are BAD..So if it's truly a case of hit and run, people were actually making a scam call to the worried family, when he was declared missing, to pay ransom else he will killed.

Too many loose ends in this story. Why did it take them close to a month to find the body? So no passer-by saw the body all these while? Why was the body found inside the bush instead of by the road side if actually it was a hit nd run incident?

How was he so sure that the person whose body found was the same person he claimed to hv knocked down few weeks back?
