Just like a thousand Yoruba children born and raised in USA cannot speak Yoruba.

Ogbeni when they ask you what other language is spoken at home besides English, they are asking about your indigenous language and it could be what your parents always speak to you at home and etc. Your children might not be able to speak the language fluently but they will at least know one or two Igbo words and they will be able to understand Igbo so that when you speak it to them they know what you’re saying.

So if they were to ask your children what other language is spoken at home, they will clearly shout Igbo Igbo Igbo. Emphasis on that home word.

What I can concede is Yoruba people are more concentrated in these countries but Igbos are more dispersed in their migration because they are more into business and this dispersal suit them more.

Against what many people think, one is limited in the amount or wealth one can acquire living in major rich western countries because of bills... this might favour a section of Igbo people but others will rather go to Malaysia, Singapore, other west African countries where opportunities for business, less bills and more money is possible.

Migrations happen for different reasons.

I know about 6 Yorubas in the UK, all of them from different families, who have never been to Nigeria, yet they speak perfect Yoruba, and they don't know each other. Mind you, both parents of each of these people, are Yorubas.

I know about 3 Igbos brought up in Onitsha, who only speak English, because of their parent's foolishness. Their parents are surprisingly from Imo.

This is just a very minute sample, yet very revealing.
