I need to see the financials of this company to give my commendation. I am not a fan of Nigerian Politicians. A project cannot be accumulating huge debt and costs without commiserate return on investment.

Ibom Air should publish its books, stating appropriation of profits so that we see the financial contribution of the airline to the State coffers.
Nigerian politicians can do anything for hype and camera. For those that will come for me, you are on your own. If you want, continue to be excited about little things that these politicians dish to you.

Recall that the Debt Management Office recently ranked Akwa Ibom as the third-highest debtor state with N239.2 billion while Lagos and Rivers states were ranked first and second respectively.

Ibom air managed by Akwa Ibom state, aircrafts provided by private individuals. Waiting for the year this airline will declare profits to the state. Frauds.

If you want to be a fool, Oyinbo man will help you. keep buying planes that are not suited to Nigerian routes and wonder why your airline collapsed in 5-6 years. No airline has si=uceeded in Nigeria with 737s and Airbus narrow body planes. They are too expensive for short haul in Nigeria.

Akwa Ibom, is fast becoming a major development hub in the country. It's one of the few states in the Niger- Delta region that is really making optimal use of the proceeds from oil revenue. The visionary and purpose driven administration of Gov Emmanuel Udom has ensured that Ibom Air position itself as a major player in the domestic aviation sector and also demystified the axiom that "Government has no business in business".

I doubt if the airline would add anything to the state's coffer in the next five years, aside being still relatively new in the terms of funding required to run an airline, acquiring more aircrafts is definitely going to set them back if they made any profit.

I want to believe the airline is in debt but better than air Nigeria where billions were frittered away on branding and logo.

I think the only good thing they can do now is publish their financial statement for the year, for transparency sake.

You can tell an airline that will/will not succeed in Nigeria by the type of planes they are buying for local routes. it shows they lack understanding of their industry. Anybody buying airbus/Boeing for local routes wont be in business very long. What you need in Nigeria are regional jets Bombardier CRJs and Embraer ERJs

Nice one but this state is one of the states in Nigeria with a lot of debts...
The state government won't make any profit from this anytime soon.

What if the next governor doesn't buy into the idea?? What if the next government doesn't even know how to manage it??

NICE MOVE nonetheless; propaganda at Best.
Bye

Continue wasting funds. Business should be left for private sector. Especially this kind of business.

I even thought a professor would have better sense. Air transport business is not what you waste public funds on.

Does this govt even know how to manage it? they are buying airbus for local routes, when they should be buying embraer or bombardier regional jets.

If only Nigeria had a visionary man like this as our President. It's a pity we are stuck with a clueless man as our President.
Because he started an airline, that automatically makes him visionary and presidential material?

How long has this government business, or any other one run to conclude that he has demystified the axiom that "Government has no business in business"?

Watch it for the next ten years before making the conclusion because really "Government has no business in business".

The profit in airline business is too little. May be he is doing it to create jobs for his people.

I hope this doesn't end in tears. Government cannot run some types of business especially an airline that is too technical and very thin profit margin. They better look for private people to sell it to before the whole thing goes bad. I would want them to succeed, but I doubt it.

the same people typing "good one" are the same people that will be abusing Emmanuel when this airline inevitably collapses. Like I have said many times, Nigeria's domestic air-travel economics cannot sustain airbus or Boeing planes, that why all those who have established airlines using them for domestic routes in Nigeria have failed. These guys dont know what they are doing and they will learn the hard way. The ideal planes for domestic routes in countries like Nigeria are bombardier and Embraer regional jets. Like you said the aviation industry is an industry of very thin margins, all it takes is one Naira devaluation and you are already in the red. you dont shoot yourself in the foot before you even start because you want to brag you have prestigious name planes.

look at viable airlines in challenging environments and see what planes they use for domestic short haul , you will find they are regional jets and turboprops.
