If only Nigeria had a visionary man like this as our President. It's a pity we are stuck with a clueless man as our President.

What is visionary in buying passenger aircraft. What does it do to the economy of Akwa Ibom state. What does the balance sheet of Ibom Air look like. Has it become a net income earner or a force multiplier.
Are there better ways to deploy scarce resources. Are there better investments the government could be making?
Not until these kinds of questions can be answered...

If you want to be a fool, Oyinbo man will help you. keep buying planes that are not suited to Nigerian routes and wonder why your airline collapsed in 5-6 years. No airline has si=uceeded in Nigeria with 737s and Airbus narrow body planes. They are too expensive for short haul in Nigeria.
You can’t even hide your bitterness

I doubt if the airline would add anything to the state's coffer in the next five years, aside being still relatively new in the terms of funding required to run an airline, acquiring more aircrafts is definitely going to set them back if they made any profit.

I want to believe the airline is in debt but better than air Nigeria where billions were frittered away on branding and logo.

I think the only good thing they can do now is publish their financial statement for the year, for transparency sake.
That will be done after NNPC does theirs

You can tell an airline that will/will not succeed in Nigeria by the type of planes they are buying for local routes. it shows they lack understanding of their industry. Anybody buying airbus/Boeing for local routes wont be in business very long. What you need in Nigeria are regional jets Bombardier CRJs and Embraer ERJs

Nice one but this state is one of the states in Nigeria with a lot of debts...
The state government won't make any profit from this anytime soon.

What if the next governor doesn't buy into the idea?? What if the next government doesn't even know how to manage it??

NICE MOVE nonetheless; propaganda at Best.

Continue wasting funds. Business should be left for private sector. Especially this kind of business.

I even thought a professor would have better sense. Air transport business is not what you waste public funds on.

I hope this doesn't end in tears. Government cannot run some types of business especially an airline that is too technical and very thin profit margin. They better look for private people to sell it to before the whole thing goes bad. I would want them to succeed, but I doubt it.

the same people typing "good one" are the same people that will be abusing Emmanuel when this airline inevitably collapses. Like I have said many times, Nigeria's domestic air-travel economics cannot sustain airbus or Boeing planes, that why all those who have established airlines using them for domestic routes in Nigeria have failed. These guys dont know what they are doing and they will learn the hard way. The ideal planes for domestic routes in countries like Nigeria are bombardier and Embraer regional jets. Like you said the aviation industry is an industry of very thin margins, all it takes is one Naira devaluation and you are already in the red. you dont shoot yourself in the foot before you even start because you want to brag you have prestigious name planes.

look at viable airlines in challenging environments and see what planes they use for domestic short haul , you will find they are regional jets and turboprops.
since you can’t read that post to comprehension this is A200 not A308.. This airline series’s na corrolla Toyota of a plane oo

Recall that the Debt Management Office recently ranked Akwa Ibom as the third-highest debtor state with N239.2 billion while Lagos and Rivers states were ranked first and second respectively.

Ibom air managed by Akwa Ibom state, aircrafts provided by private individuals. Waiting for the year this airline will declare profits to the state. Frauds.

What an irony! Lagos and Rivers states are the richest in Nigeria, but they are in debts. Even U.S.A is the largest economy in the world, still are in debts.

That is even worse.

Government provides all the funding. The people managing it have nothing to lose but everything to gain. That is called awoof.

As they say, fear who no get anything to lose. Airline business is an ultrahigh liquidity business. Government should not have hand in it.
keep your money so that as soon as ibom air shares is open for the public buy in, you will be among the first shareholder, since you are very concerned about private holding of the airline.

Ibom air already owns 5 CRJ 900 and 2 A220. They have been in business for more than 2years, and so far the preferred airline in Nigeria domestic route.
You want to tell us you know more about the choice of aircraft for their routes. Than their actual practical experience.
Ibom air wants to be a regional carrier meaning they will soon be going everywhere in Africa. Those regional gets dont have the range to travel from uyo to say south Africa or Ethiopia. But a220 will and can go from uyo to London if they choose that route.
Dont cry more than the briefed

Lollll, ogbeni go and find out abut A220 how efficient it is before your next argument... What you seem not to understand is Boeing are scrambling to produce a similar model of Jet to A220

Secondly, Embraer is not efficient for the purpose of what Akwa Ibom want to use A220's for regional travels in Africa..

Pseudo intellectuals like you are the problem of this country.
Airline business is not run anywhere in the world for profit. Only about 1 percent of airlines world wide are profitable. The profit of running an airline is the value they add to the economy in this case a state. As we speak ibom air is installing equipment to open its MRO which will be the first standard MRO in west and central Africa. Think of the profit that will make ibom and the number of aeronautic engineers with good jobs that will be employed, not to talk of pilots and other airline staff jobs that will be added. How about opening up the state to tourism? Tourism is the biggest employer of labor in the world do you understand the impact ibom air will have in tourism in Akwa ibom, already uyo is one of the most visited state capitals outside of Lagos and Abuja, you think that is by accident?
Endeavour to talk on things you know.
