Nothing can stop a visionary man!!
But in my view it's a white elephant project, if not privatised all the plane parts will be sold for scraps.
I think he should engage in projects that captures much more citizens of akwa ibom.

I need to see the financials of this company to give my commendation. I am not a fan of Nigerian Politicians. A project cannot be accumulating huge debt and costs without commiserate return on investment.

Ibom Air should publish its books, stating appropriation of profits so that we see the financial contribution of the airline to the State coffers.
Nigerian politicians can do anything for hype and camera. For those that will come for me, you are on your own. If you want, continue to be excited about little things that these politicians dish to you.

You should ask for the financials of NNPC with three non working refineries but spending billions on salaries monthly while importing fuel for local consumption.

Skoonheid:
Recall that the Debt Management Office recently ranked Akwa Ibom as the third-highest debtor state with N239.2 billion while Lagos and Rivers states were ranked first and second respectively.

Ibom air managed by Akwa Ibom state, aircrafts provided by private individuals. Waiting for the year this airline will declare profits to the state. Frauds.
Can you post the report pls

Akwa Ibom, is fast becoming a major development hub in the country. It's one of the few states in the Niger- Delta region that is really making optimal use of the proceeds from oil revenue. The visionary and purpose driven administration of Gov Emmanuel Udom has ensured that Ibom Air position itself as a major player in the domestic aviation sector and also demystified the axiom that "Government has no business in business".
Exactly

If you want to be a fool, Oyinbo man will help you. keep buying planes that are not suited to Nigerian routes and wonder why your airline collapsed in 5-6 years. No airline has si=uceeded in Nigeria with 737s and Airbus narrow body planes. They are too expensive for short haul in Nigeria.
Ibom air already owns 5 CRJ 900 and 2 A220. They have been in business for more than 2years, and so far the preferred airline in Nigeria domestic route.
You want to tell us you know more about the choice of aircraft for their routes. Than their actual practical experience.
Ibom air wants to be a regional carrier meaning they will soon be going everywhere in Africa. Those regional jets don't have the range to travel from Uyo to say south Africa or Ethiopia. But a220 will and can go from uyo to London if they choose that route.
Dont cry more than the grieved.

I doubt if the airline would add anything to the state's coffer in the next five years, aside being still relatively new in the terms of funding required to run an airline, acquiring more aircrafts is definitely going to set them back if they made any profit.

I want to believe the airline is in debt but better than air Nigeria where billions were frittered away on branding and logo.

I think the only good thing they can do now is publish their financial statement for the year, for transparency sake.
Pseudo intellectuals like you are the problem of this country.
Airline business is not run anywhere in the world for profit. Only about 1 percent of airlines world wide are profitable. The profit of running an airline is the value they add to the economy in this case a state. As we speak ibom air is installing equipment to open its MRO which will be the first standard MRO in west and central Africa. Think of the profit that will make ibom and the number of aeronautic engineers with good jobs that will be employed, not to talk of pilots and other airline staff jobs that will be added. How about opening up the state to tourism? Tourism is the biggest employer of labor in the world do you understand the impact ibom air will have in tourism in Akwa ibom, already uyo is one of the most visited state capitals outside of Lagos and Abuja, you think that is by accident?
Endeavour to talk on things you know.

Continue wasting funds. Business should be left for private sector. Especially this kind of business.

I even thought a professor would have better sense. Air transport business is not what you waste public funds on.
Ibom air is run by private sector not by government.
Its government owned but private sector managed. No government interference. That's why it the preferred domestic airline by Nigerians.
