Whenever I deliberately pray intensely (very occassionally) about anything, the reverse is the outcome as against my usual 30 seconds prayer. I've noticed this trend. I've benefitted from near-miraculous opportunities by just my 30 seconds prayers.

Is it possible that my long prayers are working against me?

It's been over a decade since I left my parents to live as an adult and I'm the least religious person I know.

I've not stepped into a church in three years, don't pay my tithes or any of those things they do in the church.

Other than 30 sesonds to 1 minute early morning prayers that I observe, half asleep, half awake, that's it with my relationship with God.

But I've enjoyed so much grace, promotions, unimaginable financial blessings. My career took off like a jet. What took people over 20 years to achieve in my industry, I did in less than 3 years. I may not even take common paracetamol in years. I ascribe it all to God.

I was raised in a godly family. We prayed together as a family morning and evening everyday, WITHOUT FAIL.... plus regular fasting and prayer on Saturdays.

Again, just now, I left a meeting that I had been preparing for for several weeks. Because it was important to me, I prayed really well (many times). Something was telling me as I was praying that "You're going to regret this". The meeting was a major disaster!!! Everything looked okay until 10 minutes before the meeting. It was as if something was messing with everything. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. They ended the meeting mid way
and never returned. I'm sure I won't receive any email from them.

I've been through similar meetings with even less preparations and just my 30 seconds of prayer and I usually dance out of such meetings.

Not just about this particular incidence but a striking trend I've noticed. I can begin to count. Today, I just promised myself never to exceed 30 seconds of prayer EVER again.

Am I the only one experiencing this?

This is the time I wish I had someone who is more discerning or could interprete this.

Sincerely, when I said long prayers, I meant deep, heart felt prayers.

Good things happen to me even without prayers or extremely short prayers. I am not religious but I strongly believe in God. If my prayers dont get answered, at least I can still accept the outcome but when the complete reverse is the case...

For example, today's meeting could have gone well and I may not receive a positive feedback. I'll still be cool with that. We win some, we lose some.

But when I said something was a disaster, I meant exactly that. I've never been embarrassed like that in a very long time due to things beyond my control and things that rarely happens.

Beginning to ask myself serious questions.

Always funny how the solution to people's problems is contained in their lamentation.

Things work for you when you prayer for 30secs because you're not tensed. You're sure of your abilities.

Things go haywire when you pray for long because you are under pressure & unsure of your abilities. The fear turned you to an MFM prayer warrior.

I wish you would look beyond the surface. This is a process I've been through many times in my career. It didn't go well not because of my abilities.

What do you say when suddenly electricity just gets cut off in a situation where it should never have happened and where there are multiple backups and NONE of them seem to work?

Or your reliable computer just froze? Or you just received a news that changed the entire dynamics of things. These are just few of everything that went wrong. Again, not cos of my abilities.

I've told you, LOSE FEAR.

Maybe you end up babbling when you do long prayers which the Bible spoke against.

"And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

So, since brief does it for you, stick to it and don't try to extend it as you might begin to counter what you're actually praying for without knowing it.

Matthew 6:7-8 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
