This telecom ban strategy is the most useless decision the state government has taken. The terrorist can just use shortwave radio which is very cheap or even satellite telephones. |

Lol. Encrypted comms radios have been available for donkey years. Typical ranges are 4- 5Kms without repeaters. With repeaters, this increases exponentially. Besides, for longer range communications, these guys simply switch to SAT phones. Golan007: |

They government did not seize the network because of bandits..they seized it because when they bandits hits.the masses cannot communicate out to people. They seized Maiduguri network for two years yet bokoharam has not stop. |

twosquare: Handheld amateur radios have noisy channels especially when they are voivce modulated in lower spectrum. They can be easily intercepted from as far as 100km with high powered radio stations coupled with radio decrypting software. A technical school graduate can do do this without a sweat |
Re: Mustapha Inuwa: Bandits Using Walkie-Talkies To Beat Telecom Shutdown by BruncleZuma: 11:26am On Nov 19, 2021 |
persius555:A Laptop or mobile phone, a dipole antenna and an SDR (Software Defined Radio) dongle would do just fine. The government does not want to act serious or want to put the square pegs in the square holes. I have a buddy from my college days who's a computer geek, he joined the air force and now does PowerPoint presentations for some ogas. 1 Like |

Not really, especially for bandits conducting a raid as a single unit in a small village just as they've been doing or in for use in their camps. Golan007: |

Why is this a problem?...this is a blessing in disguise, they can be tracked easily or a jamming machine can be used to pinpoint their location and service cut out, some Russian kids toys will do this....sorry jare, na 9ja we dey, no be say dem dey find their location before. We all know say 70% of Boko Haram uses the sambisa forest but still very difficult for our army to find them. |
