You're at the stage of life where choices can be swayed by what others think will suit you but you must not relinquish your ability to decide for yourself. That said, do you have a death wish? Because you'll be drafted to either NE or NW and trust me, the lifespan there is short and brutal.

One of my guy dey plan to leave army next year. Baba was shot in sambisa last year.

Na trouble you dey find so. Why not join the Navy?

My candid advice for u son.
Do u have passion for the job? If yes... Go for it.
On another note... U are very young... Why not go for immigration, customs.. Etc if u have someone that God will use in helping u.. Its better.
And if he intend assisting for the army job... Plz go for DSSC... Don't go for SSC.
Bcoz u are young....NA will want to fix u for SSC... But plz tell ur helper... U prefer DSSC.

Gentleman, you don't have an idea what God is about doing for you, million of youths do apply for this job but end up not been recruited and you are been given an offer before graduating and you said you don't have connection or whatsoever right? You are suppose to go to church for a Thanksgiving for what God is about doing in your life.
Gentleman, forget the noise some of these NL are making, some of them are jobless, some of them are not even qualify for the job, some of applied but were never shortlisted. That is one Job your money cannot buy so if you are been offered don't think twice just go for it with a clear mind. When some of them say you are just signing your dead warrant, don't you think it's better to die with honour than to die without one? By the way is it all of them that are dead?
Someone said because you are from the South you will be posted to Sambisa while those from the North will be posted to Lagos, that's a falacy, are there no Northerners in Sambisa? Or are there no Southerners in Lagos serving?
I went for SSC screening some years back and I wish I was selected, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky...dnt let anyone make you think negative of the job, army is one of the most prestigious job in the world...
Their pay is good, the respect and prestige is what atimes your money cannot afford...pls dnt make a mistake that a brilliant postgraduate did some years ago did, same like yours, his father's frnd was about to retire from the service, so he called his son and ask him to apply with his frnds because this is the only thing he wants to do before he retires the boy moves with his clique of four frnds, then most brilliant among them said God forbid he won't join Army, the rest quickly applied, they were both christians and muslims from different zone of the country, the boys dad personally knows the brilliant one, then he called him and ask why he refuse to apply, then he said he was not interested, 9montjs later he went for his friends POP, then he started to regret, as am telling you he is still running up n down with CV for job hunting, infact the university is using him to lecture students refuse to offer him permanent job....a stitch in time saves nine....bye..

Hello my people of nairaland, so many of you guys know me here,but really most don't know me when it comes to reality.

There is something bothering my mind and I seriously need advice from wiser people,by the grace of God I will be a graduate next year
(Electrical and Electronic Engineering) in one of the universities in north,but seriously for some times now have been having some deep taughts of how hard life might be after school, because honestly I don't have anybody, no connection nothing nothing.

So recently, a friend of mine whose dad is an army,came to our school then on sighting me he just started calling me GENERAL,at first I was not taking it serious coz I never for once taught of joining army,but the man was damn serious,just today I saw his text msg and in his texts he seriously want me to join on a short service style, he was even assuring me of how easy he was going to make it happen, like am
seriously confuse!!!!

please has anybody gone for the short service training before?

what are the requirements?

Here's the first question for you. That friend of yours whose father is in the army, what is his father calling him? Is his father calling him Field Marshal or Major General? Does his army father want him to join the Nigerian army too? These are tough questions you need to ask yourself before making a decision. Ok? Ok, this is an Uncle's advice, If army is your calling please go for it... But if it wasn't and U just want to make it as a career, please don't do that to your parents...

It is good to die for one's country but die for a country that will appreciate it.. Obviously Nigeria is not a country worth dying for...

The politicians, their kids are littered all over Europe and America and u want to be a sacrificial lamb?..

Not trying to stop u..after all is said and done, the final decision is yours to make.

Bokoharam killed him.
His friend told me after so much persuasion.
Till date, the Nigerian Army has not called to inform my family.
My elder brother practically died for nothing. I'm not even sure he was paid for the 3 months.
After going from one barracks to another here in Lagos, with officers avoiding me like a plague, I was later told to travel to Maidugri for his belongings ( you can imagine )
One officer was saying that we should go to the senator from my state to help us get his benefits ( If any ) meaning NO STRUCTURE, NO CLEAR DIRECTION...

Till date, the Nigerian Army has not called to inform my family.
My elder brother practically died for nothing. I'm not even sure he was paid for the 3 months.

The northerners join the army like it's the family business. Meanwhile if you're from the south you need connections upon connections, coupled with a lot of other factors.

My brother, if you're going to be a nuisance for the country in the long run please just let it go. Please. But if you are a man of fairness and integrity please join. We need more of you in the NA, not the current crop of idiots we have now.
