Garlic or any food attracts mice/rats up your pipe and snakes eat mice and rats. So up your pipe they, Snakes, also go chasing after mice and voila into your bowl they appear!

However it's people that are living in bungalows and ground floor of an upstairs that are exposed to the risk of snakes in toilet bowls. The reason is that snakes can't climb the pipe through which they enter in an upward position.

those valve are actually very sensitive. Just test for what works. As it is with every moving parts, they are subject to maintenance

With the scare news trending, as soon as I got home home last night I called my wife and two daughters to educate about the need to look inside the water cistern and flush before sitting on WC @ day and Night!!! To avoid ugly story.

A simple antidote to curb them is that on a monthly basis you mix kerosene (2ltr - 4ltr) and salt then flush your toilets. These reptiles cannot survive with the combination of salt and kerosene.

I don’t joke with sniper to fumigate my compound and toilet bowl. I flush it down toilet bowl. Sniper kills snake and any reptile once Dey come in contact.

You are very correct. The situation is quite common in Aus. My earlier submission is also the advice given to several households in Aus.

A snake entering the bowl from the rooftop will not be able to keep the lid fully open. The cover is designed such that if the snake prise open the lid and enter the bowl, the lid will fall back and close on it.

The earlier water closets were not produced with lid. I guess over time due to these kind of incidents, cover was introduced.....And I'm not talking of all these cheap Twyfords and other Chinese products.

If you see original Twyfords and other good brands you will notice that the lid (bowl cover) is really very weighty. Some are even made of strong furnished wood.
