What stops government from granting "approval" or selling the land to the occupants? Just look at the kind of houses they are demolishing, not even shanties. SMH. 2 Likes |

izzou: This is a lie Their documents don't carry FHA anything I grew up in festac Town 22road The truth is this land was taken from these people by the govt of obj in the 70s From second rainbow down to barracks on one side And from kirikiri down to nasco estate sandfill behind CBN estate 2 They were given tedi village down to shibiri as compensation After they had sold all the lands The omo ni le moved back to festac phase 2 in late 2000s And began to sell these lands to gullible people Mostly to igbos cos the land is closer to trade fair They were taken to court And lost the case But they refused to leave and kept selling the land to anyone who has money to buy. They only give u omo ni le family documents No where did FHA issue documents to back up any land I lived in this abule ado So I know this story so well The problem is the igbos always allow themselves to be scammed They buy land as long as they can see a baale in the area that gives them assurance 14 Likes 1 Share |

Another demolition will soon happen at Ajao estate some day soon, where omo onilés have breached the perimeter fencing of the international airport and have sold all the lands there to igbos. Only the Igbos have something to loose. Omo onilé has collected his money and gone. Always do due diligence before buying land. 3 Likes |

Vireani79:I think ur word na true o! Igbo also ve to be careful not to buy land that is govt land. Many a times in Lagos , dubious baales n omo ni le dupe people of their hard earned money, by selling govt land to them, not even Igbos alone, anybody. 3 Likes 1 Share |

izzou: The problem is the follow up unto justice. If everything was done above board the government official(s) can be recalled to query no matter how long ago the incident took place after all they will still be on goverment payroll as pensioners as government is a continuum. But in most cases it is not a question of indiscretion but one of corruption in which both parties are involved so most people will not wish to move forward with cases against the government or its agents. Civil servants a have a unique way of roping in citizens into their schemes in such a way that both parties are bound by secrecy in corruption. Nothing will happen. Years later another set of villainous citizens and government agents will conspire to erect new buildings on those very spots and the cycle will continue. This is very common in Abuja. |

egoldman:So why lamenting when you know you will survive? Nobody should have brought the demolition to nairaland then. Most of you just spew trash willingly. Those igbos whose buildings were fell knows what huge loss they've incurred and the donkey years it took then to gather the money. The point is that, igbo are too proud to face reality. Stop dragging Lagos with Yoruba people, go home and develop your region. Nobody will demolish your properties anyhow over there but no, you won't listen. You rather waste your money building houses that would later be demolished and the cycle continues. Let me burst you, Lagos State government barely give non-Yorubas the c/o which means the land they bought is just a rent in disguise. The chance of a non-Yoruba getting the c/o in Lagos is 1/1000. If you doubt me, find out for yourself. |
