Last week, I put up my phone for sale on . On Thursday, a guy called me, asked if the phone was still available. We negotiated on the price and had an agreement. The only issue was that, he was in Enugu while I, in Anambra. I agreed to send the phone over to my friend in Enugu who will help finalize the deal. On Friday, I reached out to the buyer and informed him I was going to do the waybill he politely asked me to send him my friend's number which I did after I had sent the phone via waybill. In addition I sent the buyers number to my friend too.

My friend told me he had called the buyer to establish contact so it would be much easier to deal with him when the phone arrives. Though the waybill company wasted a lot of time and the phone got to Enugu around 4pm. My friend called the buyer and he said he was busy that he would call back leta.

He never called back. It really got me worried later that Friday night I called the buyer to get why he didn't reach out again and was surprised when he asked me who I was. Sha, I felt it was a mixed up so introduced myself. He told me he was busy sha he would call back. He still didn't call back. I was very furious so I sent him a text informing him that the phone would be sent back if he doesn't make contact the following morning.

In the morning on Saturday that's yesterday he called me and apologized for the previous day. He then assured me he would reach out to my friend before noon so that they could finalize the exchange... Fast forward to 3pm on Saturday, he never reached out.

I called him and yet again he asked me who I was. Still maintaining my cool, I told him about our previous conversations but this time, he said he was at a wedding that he would reach out later that evening. Till now he hasn't called.

I've been trying to wrap my head around what his motive could be but I'm still not finding a good explanation for his actions.

Meanwhile, while we were negotiating on the price I told him I was using the said phone and I would be resetting my personal data before sending the phone over to him. I asked him to tell me should he change his mind about buying the phone so that I don't lose both my data and waybill money. He assured me he was serious with his intentions to buy the phone.

This night being Sunday, I called again but he aggressively said I was disturbing him so he blocked me.
The dude is probably a fraudster. He knly backed out because you sent the phone to your friend instead of directly sending it to him.

The buyer should need the goods more than the seller needs the money and the seller should be the one to decide the meeting point of exchange not sending via waybills, waybills should only be for customers recommended by other customers one has been having business with and trust.
Re: My Bitter Experience With A Phone Buyer In Enugu by viralmaged: 10:33am On Nov 29, 2021
If you are into e-commerce you will understand this is a normal thing .
A buyer will call to place an order, disturb you to fulfill the order, you will call him to be sure if he is buying before dispatching, he will give you his 100% affirmation, you will reach dispatch venue ,he/she will either not pick your call, pretends he doesn't know you, blacklist you or bodly tell you he is not interested again.

The motives behind this action is what iam yet to wrap my head around .

This is prevalent among buyers from Kogi and Benue (those who are into e-commerce can relate to this)

I've put my phone on here for sale one time. Buyer came with hilux and had finished counting the raw cash.

I changed my mind on the spot. NO.

Bros, no vex. I no dey sell again.

Him go, me I go. Nobody lose data or money.
Seems you are still not getting it" The seller said he wipes his phone memory and still pay for the waybill and before he did that he already notify the buyer" Now you can compare it with your own situation like you went out somewhere close and convenient to transact and you easily change your mind' That one is normal cos you didn't lose anything compare to someone who invested on selling his item! People can be funny. This reminds me of my senior in secondary school whom I met about two weeks ago around Aguda. She was already looking about twenty years older than I despite the that she was just two years older. She told me her jeep was parked somewhere, I knew it was just to pass some info. We exchanged nos nd the next day senior Yemisi called to tell me she was close to my street that she came to see a cousin and she wanted to see me for something. She came n was entertained only to tell me her dad died that morning and she had just paid 7.2million naira for goods and she needed 10k to travel to the village fast that she would transfer it to my account. I gave her the money only for her to demand for another 10k which I still gave her. She called to tell me her dad had been buried and that I should please send money for her transport back that she had forwarded my acct details to her salesgirl n instructed her to pay into the account. I sent her 5k. Sis Yemisi got back to Lagos ( according to her. Who knows if she truly travelled sef?) and called to thank me only for her to say "aburo, sister e o ma ti i jeun lataaro" it was then I started feeling I could have been scammed. Ever since then she has not been picking my calls.
This is why people atimes don't help cos you may not know who is being honest. I did it not because I was foolish bit cos I felt I was helping someone in need. To her now,she has succeeded in scamming me but she doesn't know there's reward for all we do.

This is why many sellers prefer pay before delivery.

Many customers are mean. That was how one asked me to deliver hair after she had seen pictures, agreed on price etc. I had to go all the way to Lagos Island from Ilupeju went to meet her in Ojota and when I got there she said, "I will call you when I'm ready. I just wanted to touch it". undecided

That's why is advisable to do business around your vicinity anything beyond States I nor do so op get sense next time that any phone auctioning outside your state is a no deal except if the person agrees to come to your location.

You are also to be blamed. Your friend called him to establish contact and he replied that he was BUSY…never called back!…you called him after that and he claimed not to know who you were!….I’ll be suspicious if I was you…he should’ve saved your no at least till the deal has been concluded…I believe he saved it but let’s give him benefit of the doubt…you called back and he still claimed not to know you….RED FLAG…He was no serious customer.

You should’ve ended the deal when he started acting awkward but you didn’t. Retrieve your phone and look for another buyer…you do your business quietly and no need to bring this online.

Buyer probably changed his mind but didn’t know how to communicate that…selfish and inconsiderate him.

Lordforce/seller saw the signs but he wanted to sell at all cost. He was thinking of the profit, thoughts of losing money via waybill and sending the phone back to him. Buyer was a very awkward person but Lordforce was a nuisance in the deal.

In deals like this, any red flag from either side should terminate the deal.

Plus cost of waybill to and fro Enugu.

When my friend called him to establish contact. He was calm and told my friend to reach him immediately the phone gets to him. Then, he started acting up when the phone had gotten to my friend. I've lost everything so i felt it was wiser to salvage the situation since sending the phone back would be a loss for me.
