Story! He could be removed and nothing would even happen. Not even a shit would happen!
I even heard colonial master's even did remove one.. during the time Nigeria was under British and nothing happened. Tho, not quite sure of this but I heard!
Before talking about a subject, try and educate yourself on that subject:
Oba Ovonramwen was the king of a souverein and independent kingdom/empire called Benin and he fought a war against Britain, he lost that war and was exiled by the British as a consequence. After his demise his son Oba Eweka took over the throne and the rein continues today from first son to first son.

Nobody can remove the Oba of Benin because there is no alternative to start with, the only person who could take over from the reigning Oba of Benin is his first son.

Also I am a nephew of the current governor of Edo state and I would let you know that nobody in our family or outside our family would support any attempt to attack the image of our emperor, we are all loyal subjects of our emperor. Now Mr outsider, mind your business and get us out of your venom filled tong.

N.b: we as a proud people do not refer to the British as "masters" but you and your low self-esteem can keep calling them that. Just know we are not equals.

You have actually affirmed it

no traditional ruler is above the governor of a state
edo state has respect for their tradition hence why i said i can't happen.

Actually, traditional rulers and governors are not part of the same organisation so comparing their authority over each other is just like comparing people from different companies.
The governors are part of the Nigerian government inherited from colonialism whereas traditional rulers (the real ones) are part of the governments which were there before colonialism.
After colonial wars were won by the british, the British couldn't effectively rule without the contribution of the traditional rulers who had just lost the souvereinty of their respective nations to britain. So the traditional rulers were given official roles in the colonial regime, that has continued to today. So we could say that real traditional rulers have two jobs: 1) embodying the precolonial thrones of their ancestors, and this can't be taken away by anybody
2) support and consultation role in the Nigerian government (that is the only part in which the Nigerian government has power with concern to traditional rulers).
3) to understand this, you need to take a look at the delai lama case.

Mr Educator!
You only attacked me and nothing else.

Who cares if you are a nephew of Joe Biden.

Oga, if you demigod Oba go contrary to the state governor he would remove him once.
And thank God you even mention..about losing a war, I thought he was a god

And mind you, I am not talking about now, It's something that can happen anytime, it can be in next 10years, it can even be 20years..

Please, I don't really like this argument, cos, you are making it look like I hate current Oba of Benin. Its a man I promote everywhere I go, cos I like his kingship and his a man who knows what's good for his people.

Colonial masters you say. Them diff. At this time every Edo Governor know his place when it's comes to the OBA... Before you say make you fight Oba you should make sure you are Spiritually well strong and fortified. Remember, na Edo be King of juju for this country... No Governor go last long. Yes he can possibly remove him but he will most.likely be killed spiritually and another person takes his place and reinstalls the oba to avoid same thing on him ... So why suffer you self fighting an Oba?

Look, perhaps you need to stop talking about us.
Stop being obsessed about Benin, we do not require your support, nor do we require your comment.
This talk you are trying to have has already shifted to prediction of the future, with you guys there is no logics, you always stray away from rational discussions and camp right on illogical territory.

I have already told you, the only person who can take over from the Oba of Benin is his first son, that is the tradition of Benin monarchy. The king doesn't get selected, he is the known successor of his dad right from birth.

I guess you have an obsession about Benin, but perhaps you should focus on your own people and leave us alone ! Is this really too much to ask ? Minding your own business, can you do that ? The way many Nigerians act these days, it feels like us Edo have to constantly justify our identity to other nigerians, mind your own goddamned business and stop talking about us !

Yeah but what's the essence of removing him and dying and then someone else reinstalls him?.. so you see no govtnor will try that

Stop engaging in this stupid talk.
Removing the Oba of Benin would require removing Benin kingdom itself.
Because Benin kingdom won't recognise anybody other than the genuine Oba of Benin and his first son would refuse to take over from his father while his father is still alive.

It is the same kind of thing with the delai lama, the Chinese government is yet to succeed in removing him.

There are some kingdoms in which removing the king is just not an option.

Our king is not defined by a staff of office, our king is defined by the traditions of our kingdom/empire. Don't confuse our emperor with all these fake kings created by Nigerian politicians.

Don't confuse your situation with ours, our king is a father to the governor whereas your king is a son to your governor.
We bow to our king and our governor ( my uncle) bows to our king, whereas your king bows to your governor.

We are different, and that is ok !
Our king is the one who can qualify the governor as misbehaving, not the other way around.

It's very difficult for none Edos to comprehend the uniqueness of Edo people. Anyone pretending to be Edo and still not understand that there is a great difference between the Oba of Benin and other imitations across Nigeria needs a paternity test.

You can't govern a people without their consent and when the people hold strongly to their traditions, it's almost impossible to change the people's ways of life. Example is the recent USA pull out of Afghanistan after 20 years of trying to defeat the Taliban. Thousands of lives and over a trillion dollars went to waste.

The Oba of Benin is intertwined with the Benin people, you can't separate one from the other, this is why the British failed to end the dynasty, I don't see any Nigeria governor succeeding where the British failed.
