To be Honest Edouard Mendy is the better keeper by miles, however when it comes to which keeper has a direct effect on the game, Donnaruma comes up... how you may ask?

So Donnaruma is a modern day Sweeper Keeper, while Mendy is a traditional keeper with acrobatic traits.

The thing with Sweeper keepers is they also contribute directly to defensive actions by dictating defensive patterns, which Donnaruma was constantly doing in the Italian team (Chiellini, Spinazola and Bonnuci were also very good so it made Donnaruma's coordinations very obvious). Donnaruma is particularly good at breaking crosses.

Now Mendy does not do all that defensive coordination but, Mendy will most likely give you a clean sheet with his insane save rate. a 1V1 with Mendy is most likely going to end up with a save.

However here's the thing if Mendy is in a team with poor scorers, he may help defend the team to the end, but not help them win.

Donnaruma on the other hand can contribute to a team winning even with poor scorers, by influencing an aspect of the game, such as making key passes, or breaking a strategy by rearranging the backline or pushing a highline to counter a press by coming out.

So if you ask me which of the goalkeepers influences a game most, it's Donnaruma by a mile, but which keeper has a higher save rate it's Mendy.

Donnaruma was also solely responsible for Italy winning the Euros, however I can't say the same for Mendy in the champions league because he had a man like Ngolo Kante doing divine things.
