This a warning to employers of labour: Treat your workers right. Your worker is not only needed for completing tasks, but he's also a reflection of your company. You can't be successful if your workers are unmotivated, redundant or poorly paid.

Pay your workers well and on time. They will fight to impress you!

Where am working presently till this moment they are yet to pay me. I have exhausted my last payment. Amount paid is meagre but they would not pay on time. All through the weekend was just helpless as I have no dime to provide for my family. I pity my newborn baby, it is no fault you came to us, am working hard but situations in the country is making things difficult. I work in Yaba, live around Ojodu Berger i have to trek 30 minutes so as to catch up with BRT N300 if not I would spend more. This is really affecting me mentally, sometimes am drained physically. Some Employers are wicked and mean.

The sad reality is that 99% of Nigerian employers of labour are contributing towards killing the quality of manpower Nigeria has through various unwholesome practices.

They don't pay workers well so that they can develop themselves. They pay you just enough to accommodate one or two meals and transport yourself to work. You work excessive number of hours that you don't even have time to develop yourself except coming to do a repetitive job day in day out till you quit, die of old age or are sacked.

In turn, majority of the workforce are poorly skilled and prefer the safety of monthly salary than taking the risk of developing themselves and learning a skill that can fetch them better than they are currently earning.

Let's not talk about the useless minister/ministry of labor and employment that is redundant, sitting idle nd watching contract work and unwholesome labor practices degrade the quality of Nigeria's workforce.

Last last, just go and learn a skill so that you can break yourself free from the bondage of modern slavery in the name of working for employers in your own fatherland.

Freelancing can fetch you enough income than any employer in Nigeria can pay you... Learn crypto futures trading, learn a craft/handwork.

I can testify from personal experience that you won't regret doing any of the above.

In the end, you can combine working a 7-7 job while doing those side hustles or you can focus fully on your craft/handwork.

Only those with a skill/handwork will survive Nigeria of 2022 and beyond. The rest will bite dust.

Best of luck to everyone.

You don't understand. I have come to know why many employers of labor like to pay workers late and why they seem to be hard on their employees.

I made up my mind to stay good to my employees no matter their attitudes. But I will beg employees to always remain discipline n productive in any capacity they find themselves. It pays.

I know there are a lot of bad employers out there, my advice is don't turn the few good ones to monster. If you are in this side of divide you will understand.

Re: Warning To Employers by datola: 9:24am On Dec 06, 2021
Yes it's good to treat your workers well but fact is that over 80% of the time (Nigerian workers) whether you treat them right or not will always try to run the company down by stealing and engaging in other corrupt practices.

Employers in Nigeria act like God because jobs are scarce. Let the government provide constant electricity and a lot of people will resign and start their own business.

The problem is that most Nigerian employers have the mindset that they are doing you a favor by being employed..... But that's FALSE... the moment you stop bringing value to the establishment they won't think twice to kick you out.

That's why as an employee, you should improve yourself so much that your employer will be scared to lose you to their competitors... And they'll treat you right FOR THEIR OWN GOOD
