What’s the ussd code to stop auto renewal of Airtel plan?

I don’t use this particular service but every month it is automatically renewed and money deducted from my balance.

I got this online: “To stop all Airtel auto renewal, send d txt “stop” to 140.”

Unfortunately, this txt solution cannot work for me. I need a ussd solution.

There is information all over the place on how to subcribe. Once in, it’s a monthly charge and the ussd code to unsubscribe is nowhere to be found .

1. It will be nice if the information is out in d open for everyone to see.

2. Am currently out of town so calling d customer care is not so straightforward. Nevertheless I tried 111, 121, +234 802 150 0111 and even +234 802 150 0121. No joy on all d numbers.

It is a frustrating situation here too. Mine is even a worse case of double subscription. I had subscribed, but they still auto subscribed another plan for me again obviously due to the fact that I had used the other plan 'paripaso', on previous subscription.

They don't seem to have online CS as usual. Downsizing must have led the part to introducing programmed machines to respond to our needs. Those programs don't know how we feel.

Looks like I might have double subscription too.

Got a response from Airtel via Twitter saying they’ve done it.

They didn’t give me a ussd code though ...

Guy, just dial *496*100# to deactivate your 1k sub. It works for me.

Tried it. Comes back with ussd string *496*100# was not recognized.

Airtel’s refusal to make this ussd code available to the public is highly suspect.

More than 3 years later, this problem still persists. MTN Hyflexnet was down some hours in my area, so i activated Airtel. Na so I enter wahala, all because I clicked "Cancel" in the last section where they ask if you want auto renew or not. Some hours later, my usual Hyflexnet was back and i forgot about Airtel. It wasn't until the next day when i got a renewal alert i remembered. For the next 3 days, i get charged. It wasn't the money really - N100 won't break the bank - but the continuous charge with no visible method of stopping it.

"STOP" to 140 didn't work.
"STOPAUTORENEW" to 440 didn't work.
Took me almost 3 days to finally find this solution - dial *141*[amount being charged]*1#

Once you ok auto renewals, Airtel Nigeria deliberately makes it EXTREMELY difficult for you to opt out of it. Why not just add the opt out code in the same auto renew message (like every other data service provider does)?
