salaamfaizal: I not sure of all the answers so you might want to post this in student section What I know is yes you can be added, your pof would need the required amount for dependant and I think still needs to meet the 28days threshold.... the impact of the new restrictions I don't know because I haven't checked the rules |

@Mamatukwas, thank you for your response. Most of the discussions here are always about England, that was why i asked. I plan moving to Glasgow next year and I would like to know few things about the city The accommodation cost The cost of living The weather Any other important things. Thank you. Mamatukwas: |

TheGuyFromHR: Okay Thank you. We await Dec 20 review. However, the circular didn’t say the travel restrictions were based on country of citizenship. I think there might be a loophole to explore: “Holders of valid visit visas are not allowed to enter from a red list country”. If a traveler of red list country citizenship is coming from a green list country with foreign predeparture test and all, why should they be refused entry at the border? Just wondering if anyone has explored this or thinking to explore this before the Dec 20 review.

careerwoman: I agree with you, but I think it isn't a loophole per se..I think it is straight forward. Visit visa holders from other countries are still entering the UK, visa holders from redlist who transit moree than the required 10days from non redlist shd still be allowed in. I guess we may never find out until someone who has done it declares (which will be rare because very few visit visa holders will have a desperate need to get into the UK) Would be interesting to know if someone has done this.... 1 Like |

hustla: If the husband has got skilled worker sponsorship then the cheaper scenario will be for the wife to come as a dependent and save the student fees and pursue other professional route. And if its studying at the end then home fees can apply at some point. Losing a job with sponsorship can throw someone/family into turmoil and lots of uncertainty but they won't just say pack your load and go on the next flight, always a chance to look for other jobs within 90days or so and the experience already gathered will go a long way to help. 3 Likes |

mizGene: True. “Loophole” makes it sound illegal meanwhile it isn’t. It is necessary for one to understand and apply the grammar used in these policy guidelines. I really hope the Dec 20 review is favourable otherwise I might have to travel from elsewhere for my important trip. |

careerwoman: Even if you tried to travel through green list country it will not work because your visa was issued in Nigeria |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by fatima04: 4:17pm On Dec 12, 2021 |
LagosismyHome: Interestingly, the key word alot of people seem to miss is that keyword "legally and continous". As long as you have NEVER allowed a visa to expire while in country(overstaying), any period spent on a combination of visa period or time waiting visa approval etc counts. 3 Likes |

careerwoman:i think you can. When pakistan was on the redlist, some colleagues that had exams to write in the uk did this. They already had obtained their visas and could not afford to cancel. They went to a country not on the red list and stayed there for 10-12 days before then coming to the uk. Think hard before doing this as Nigeria wants to put UK, Canada etc on red list before you will be unable to get back into nigeria. 1 Like |

justwise: I don’t think the issuing country is a problem according to the circular. The visa doesn’t even state where it was issued. If the visa is valid then it should be permissible. Anyways, I think the best thing would be to confirm from them first before going on my trip. 5 Likes |

careerwoman: Issuing country is the major prob here, if you live in Ghana or Cameron as a Nigerian and got your visa there you will be allowed to enter the UK without restriction. Even if its not written on the visa they still know where the application was made and other details Look at the exemptions to see if your purpose of coming to the UK fails under that |

justwise:omo I beg to differ. Colleagues’ parents and family tried this thing when India and Pakistan was on the list. I was just watching film. The problem is the VIRUS from the ‘red list’ not the visa. They do not want anyone from a red list country coming here. As long as you technically wipe your red list history by coming from a non red list nation, you will scale. Seen so many examples of this. 5 Likes |

ybahrbz91: Accommodation cost: High, difficult to get to unavailable, just like many places in the UK now. Cost of living - Factor out accommodation, no different from any major UK city. Weather - Wet. Any important things: Glaswegians are generally friendly people and foul-mouthed. |

justwise: So a uk student Visa issued in Nigeria can be used to travel from Cameroon. Cameroon isn't on the red list. Maybe a favorable option. |

justwise:it is not about the visa.. it is about the red list country! This is what is been done over and over again. Something i saw with my two eyes.. pakistan was on the red list, they travelled from Pakistan to USA and stayed there for 2 weeks, then USA to UK with same Pakistan issued visit visa whilst Pakistan still stayed on the red list. You will be allowed in. Same way if you go to Turkey/Ghana or any non red list nation for 10 days, you can skip the compulsory quarantine. Abeg no dey argue this one. That is why you have a passenger locator form… this is what is used at the border.. not where you obtained visa from… it only asks where you have been in the last 10 days.. as long as it is not a red list country, it will tell u only about day 2 pcr and pre departure pcr.. 6 Likes |
