The eNaira, Nigeria’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria as a legal tender was made available to the public on October 28, 2021, despite several initial postponed launch dates. And with over a month since its debut, the country’s ‘digital currency’ has not really generated as much buzz as it should and worse, its users’ ratings have perhaps given an idea on why the launch was too early.Source: https://financialslot.com/reasons-the-enaira-could-fail-in-nigeria/

dawnomike:The concept is not a bad one but Nigeria’s problem has always been project implementation. Very good projects can fail in this country because every project is seen as a conduit to siphon funds. |

Could fail?! What has already failed. Even those that brought it don't use the Naira let alone the eNaira. You keep hearing amount in dollars even by government agencies. It will be safer to buy & store tissue papers at least you're sure of it's appreciating value at the market. |

Even the president himself who is among the pioneer of this useless project does not know anything about eNaira if they accidentally asked him in an interview. |

The major question is what is the benefit of using E-Naira. Without answering this question, the E Naira will die a natural death.... Consumers most see the value in a product/service before they would consider it, otherwise it's just a white elephant project |

Opay is 100% beta. And as long as this useless government want to limit youth to #30,000 and ban Crypto that would have turn many youth to billionaire without fraud. It's a scam project. I just break up with my guy now cos he have E-naira app on his phone |

It has failed even before start off. People keep making the mistake of referring to eNaira as a digital currency. eNaira is not a digital currency but a wallet, just like paga, opay, kudi etc. And why would I use eNaira for any transaction when my bank app can do all, even better? |
| Re: 8 Reasons The eNaira Could Fail In Nigeria by Realdeals(m): 1:16pm On Dec 13, 2021 |
It isn't different from the wallet systems provided by banks, of what usefulness is it except that it works across board and government can easily credit citizens via the platform. |

1) The only way to encourage e-naira usage is to offer a discount for purchase done with the currency. 2) Also, since BVN is linked to a phone number, it shouldn't be hard to implement USSD, this is absolutely necessary for the financial inclusion they touted the currency to solve. 3) Just like how people were influenced by the Bank to use ATM instead of visiting the counter by stipulating they minimum amount you can withdraw OTC. FG and Banks should implement the minimum amount you can transfer or received via the current Naira notes in your bank apps. Anything less than that should be done through e-naira. these things are not that hard but the technocrats that should be consulted won't instead they will use political settlement to engage a consultant.. |
