Next Youtube and Twitter will follow.

It doesn’t get uglier than this.

But the truth is that I pay tax on every fuel and many other things I buy here.

Basically, all the social media companies must open an office in Nigeria and pay Tax, that Lai Mohammed was screaming would be born by the masses using the social media.

Nowhere are they paying from any profit, it is direct billing.

I pay stamp duty if the #5k i did labourer work is sent to my account, i pay VAT if i buy airtime, pay VAT while using the airtime, then pay VAT if i am zooming direct from my airtime.

The response to this news is illustrative of how daft most Nigerians are. Your country has a severe revenue problem. Your country has one of the lowest tax to GDP ratio in the world and you are complaining that taxes are being applied to Zoom, Facebook etc. How do you expect to develop your country without revenue? The saner climes that you clowns idolize charge taxes on everything be it sales tax, property taxes, federal taxes, state taxes etc..

The companies are not gonna be paying the VAT, you are gonna pay it and they remit to the Nigeria you are talking about.

Did you read the post?

Zoom is charging Nigerians VAT so they can remit to the govt, it is basically collecting VAT from you and handing same over to the government, what made it so special to require tagging others as being daft?

Use your head at least for once

Who pays the tax at the end of the day? The answer is its poor Nigerians who will still pay the tax

If it's that the tax will be deducted from what Facebook and the likes Rae charging Nigeria's for advert then it's different ball game

When you make calls from your mobile line, browse the internet, etc FG will deduct 7.5% VAT

Whenever you receive a sum of 10k Naira and above on your bank account, federal government deduct 5naira stamp duty charges

When you transfer money from your bank to another bank, federal government still deduct 7.5% VAT of transfer charges

When we buy fuel, we pay tax

When we buy mobile phone, we pay tax

Bottle water, soft drink, beer etc we pay tax

When you board commercial bus, airplane, train we pay tax

Tell me that thing we buy in Nigeria now that we don't pay tax yet government want to tax Facebook adverts

Do you realized lots of youths are making use of Facebook adverts in legitimate ways to earn a living when government has failed to provide them employment opportunity

Some youths are no longer into internet fraud because they are making legitimate money via the internet but the moment government makes life becomes harder most of them will have no option than to go back to their vomit

I see these excessive charges as war against southerner(call me a tribalist but I don't care) because hoe many northerners makes use of internet to promote their business?

I expect Buhari to sell off some aircraft on presidential fleet instead of them using it to carry olosho up and down

Just today we read that senate ok jumbo pay, purchase of expensive cars for law makers and their aides https://www.nairaland.com/6893842/ahmed-lawan-justifies-billion-naira

Why are these people heartless?

Why can't they sacrifice jumbo pay, buying of expensive cars and use the money meant for these kangaroo project to salvage the economy

Go to china, the government doesn't tax complaint badly not to talk of struggling individual still china is 10000X better than Nigeria in terms of infrastructure

China makes means of doing business easier for the masses and that's what makes it easier for Chinese to use 10 X 10 ft room to run a production company e.g disposable nose mask (this I can confirm)

Sensible government will never generate revenue through excessive tax but from massive human development

This government is nothing but big time fraud and senseless government

They connive with Chinesse to defraud Nigerians in the name of railway

This government hated the masses badly and prefer to make the life of masses miserable so they can continue to use them to achieve their personal interest every election year

It's high time Nigerians rise up and confront this evil minded in government and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

May the Almighty God destroy all evil people in government and whoever that's supporting their evil deeds
