Even if WEF uses surveys - people cannot just claim their roads are good quality - if they are NOT.
Check back a few years a go - and you can see Kenya slowly climbing up the road quality index - as the gov double down the investment there.
Our roads use to be as bad as Ghana and Nigeria.
But we fixed it.

Kenya has no minerals worth building even 100kms of tarmac.

You have no excuse why you're not a DEVELOPED COUNTRY.

For centuries you have had GOLD....tonnes of it.

But look - you own gold regulator - is claiming 90 percent is getting smuggled out.

Your roads are still terrible until you are able to pave it up to at least 50%

you dont need minerals to build roads...all you need is for your gov't to use it revenues to build roads instead of packing it into one family account.

We have used both out mineral resources and human resources to pave more roads than your country...

Was checking on smth totally unrelated and stumbled across this. Researchers per capita. Saffas,Kenyans, Ghanaians and Algerians.

The Germanics like Austria and Belgium have 5000+ researchers per million as expected. China surprised me-I'd assumed they'd be at minimum half that but no they're stuck at 1300 with Hong Kong at 4000+. Anyway match the figures for the above: 800,300,200 and 500. For some reason Naij isn't listed.

The road has served us well for nearly 20yrs without potholes. The road is dualized - 60kms from Nairobi - and near Nakuru town - and in hilly sections there is a climbing lane.

And now French are building us a 2 billion dollars (almost) expressway - toll road.

The 233-kilometre contract that was awarded to a French consortium made up of Vinci Highways SAS, Meridian Infrastructure Africa Fund, and Vinci Concessions SAS last year will see the road expanded into a four-lane dual carriageway through a Public-Private Partnership model.

There will be 4km elevated expressway in Nakuru town.

Because we dont have gold, oil, diamond and aluminium.
We have huge infrastructure deficit...but we are working on it.
The last 10yrs we have double our paved road from 11,000 to now about 25,000kms.
Our road network expanded from 160k to 240km..
Our road quality - has improved - many roads including unpaved are in fair all weather conditions.

Continue crying as Usual. As of June last year we were at 22,600...about 2,000 more being upgraded. This year we will get to 25-26k - a year from now 30K. That would be trippling of our paved road network in 10yrs since 2013.

Yeah if we tripled the next decade again - we would be talking 90-100K paved road network. And that is while maintaining the existing road network - not Ghana or Nigeria zero maintenance culture.
