Biafrarep:
Honestly, it is the younger generation Igbos that are investing seriously in Owerri. The older generation had complex issues, maybe due to the civil war. Captain Iheanacho couldn't see the potentials of building a refinery in Imo State but a Northerner did and they're even expanding their capacity.

Meanwhile, I was driving around New Owerri few days ago and was impressed with the sort of classy investments springing up around that axis. With a visionary governor, Owerri will definitely become one of the most beautiful cities in Nigeria.
Investment is trooping in though not in a multi billion dollar scale.
Development wise Owerri is actually punching above it's weight oo

Few places in Nigeria are growing fast and more progressively than Owerri. Of all of the major cities in the east, Owerri is the most poised to be the top economy for a few reasons.

As far as industry, Onitsha and Aba have hit a vertical limit. They're also not places people want to live if they have options. Modern industry will require educated people with options and Owerri is still an option because it's highly livable and comparatively modern. It is easier to convince a graduate to move to Owerri than to move to Onitsha, and these are the people necessary for building up a modern industrial base and tech sector. Enugu is also a strong competitor, because both also have the advantage of having great universities.

In order for Owerri to take advantage of that it has to prioritize it. If Owerri can invest heavily into secondary and primary school education, it can attract the parents of the students and if the schools are of quality, it can attract more industrialists.

Owerri also has to make it's self a city that belongs to the world. All of the great cities of the world are world-cities. Cities outlive nations and ethnicities. Owerri has to actively invite the world, perhaps by partitions parcels of land to different ethnic groups/nations in Africa and beyond. (China town, India town, German Town, Ghanaian Town etc).

Different people bring different qualities and you need the sum total of the worlds qualities to have a world class city. Though you would have to tightly regulate and train them because their racism can ruin the place if left unbalanced.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by InternalAuditor:
Ikengawo aka ofodirinwa, instead of you to focus on discussing your failed imo state but you are busy spewing your usual unfounded lies.

Stop comparing Onitsha and your glorified village called OWERRI that's littered with dilapidated roads and filthy environment.

Onitsha is by far better developed and advanced than your local backward OWERRI that no reasonable person dares to relocate to.

Onitsha has more graduate jobs than Owerri can ever have even in the next 100yrs.

The number of banks in Onitsha is thrice bigger than all the banks in the entire Imo state.

Millions of imo indigenes ran to Onitsha for greener pasture, why are they not staying back in the glorified village called Owerri? There's absolutely nothing nothing in Owerri except brothels and commercial sex hawkers.

Owerri and Aba are the two worst towns in Igboland and Southern Nigeria at large, both towns have the worst roads ever in the region and southern Nigeria in general.

Owerri is highly an unliveable jungle, that's why imo indigenes are running to nearby economically viable and liveable cities of Onitsha and Port Harcourt. The population of imo indigenes living in Onitsha are more than the population of imo indigenes living in Owerri. This is a stark reality.

Owerri is a failed town because even imo indigenes would rather go to Onitsha, PH or Enugu to invest than ever investing in OWERRI except it is brothel.

No sane person would want to relocate to Owerri except the person is a commercial sex hawker.

Imo state human capitals are being drained by Onitsha and PH, this is because Owerri is a useless worthless backward shithole town that produces only students that eventually leaves the town on graduation, leaving a ghost town behind in search of greener pastures in Lagos, PH, Onitsha, Warri, etc.

Have you wondered why real investors don't go to Imo state? It is because there's no enabling environment. You are bitter that Owerri cannot match any city in Anambra, even small Nnewi has far bigger economy than Owerri.

What do you have in imo state that can be compared to the ones in Anambra? Are you gonna compare the motorpark airport in imo to the worldclass international airport in Anambra? Are you gonna compare glorified secondary school called IMSU to the top grade COOU-Anambra? Or are you gonna compare the poultry farm called IMSUTH to the world rated COOUTH-Awka? What about the over rated secondary school called FUTO, are you gonna compare it to great UNIZIK?What about general infrastructures, your state doesn't come close at all. I can go on and on. Comparing Anambra to your useless imo state, is like comparing America to Uganda. Envious bitter frustrated fellow,

Though I am not a fan of Asphalt on Igbo roads but I will say that the demarcation and street lights are OK, I hope the drainage will be covered.
Anyways, How many km?

IMO state is on life support, the insecurities are making people desert the state, nobody will like invest in such environment

My neighbour who always travel home in orlu for Christmas told me last week that him and his family have nothing to do with home again, that if they all want to kill their selves they should bcs its discouraging that its Igbo that is killing Igbo and making the state insecure their selves

I felt so bad hearing this happening amongst us,imolites are rich outside and are ready to invest but people causing this insecurities gives them reasons not to invest.let's not blame the police on this matter bcs its our people that will first go and attack police stations and make residence desert their homes bcs they are afraid of the police retaliation. Education is the key,had it been this our youth causing unrest are educated enough to know its only a peaceful environment that can attract investors and they will not be jobless,I don't they will even think of this evil and wickedness they are doing to our old parents at home

It is commendable when our roads are getting the attention they needed but truly it is time for our governments in Igboland to abandon open drainage, in layman's terms penny wise pound foolish, it doesn't make sense. Truth be told our people are dirty the drainage will be filled with garbage in no time.

On the contrary the insecurity challenges in imo state is at the last drop of it, the military and police department has done exceedingly well, it's been months since the was any serious insecurity challenges in Orlu town, what the government is doing now is mopping up the remaining riffraffs.

It's sad that Hope destroyed MCC road with 6 feet deep gutter and left it like that.

I was told a woman and her daughter fell in there and died. If he won't fix MCC road why then destroy it

That road has issues, the road was awarded to incompetent contractor, it has been revoked and re-awarded, don't know what's is delaying the kick off the project.

Nwanne, I don't have to be a civil engineer to know that the pictures you shared are those of a poor-quality job. Admittedly, Rochas Okorocha was a bad governor, but Hope Uzodinma is much worse than him.
