Forcing the sector to run at a loss.

That's why we spend more on generators.

The truth is, we need at least 30 billion dollars a year, for 16 years to fix power. Our budget, with borrowing and debt is not up to 28 billion dollars US.

Thanks for the link. However. It's worth remembering that infrastructure got just over $2b in 2022 budget, that's way too little, yet could could make a difference if spent well. At this point, the big question is how well? Truth is, a good portion of that money will be misapropriated,likely with impunity and the vicious cycle continues.

Depends on the part of the North you live in

Many parts of the North, if not most parts, have power issues like the Southern part of the country.

You probably live in a high band area....which is why you have power for 18 hours. I myself live in a high band area. 4 years ago, I lived in a low band area, and was getting less than 10 hours of light...sometimes 6 hours, or less. (And in the FCT even)

Imagine someone saying that they can't fix roads once and for all because there wont be any more work to be done. So Nigeria is perpetually fixing roads, perpetually fighting insecurity, perpetually tackling one problem or the other.

They should have paid me to release this report. I didn’t read anything new.

Where are the abroad based Nigerians heading industrial fields? Those are the only hope we can get now. A serious government should entice them to infuse world class methods into electricity generation, road construction and affordable housing. I am ready to vote such a government into a lifelong administration.

30 billion dollars is enough to provide a modular power station to each state so what are you saying?

We're still having energy crisis in this country simply because the successive useless governments we've been having don't want to fix the power issue

People mentioning you must be bastardxxx, i will likely close my restaurant because of the phcn issue, just 9 to 9, they cant provide, if at all, i get 3 hours of half current daily which we still use gen for microwave, i spend about 11k on diesel {30 litres), i only used ac on sunday evening when i have shows yet these bastardsxxxx brought a bill of 58k,i paid 30 when they came around, before i paid it, i told the marketer with them "even though im not at the shop with you guys i can tell you 2 things,
number 1 gen must be running,
Number 2 there wont be more than 3 customers there" and i was right, she was speechless ,if they do the same next month, it would be 28 left over plus 58k,i will shut down, lay off workers, leave this country and go work in a warehouse or something im the uk, we are barely getting by as the price of food is so high, we had to increase prices hence, not a lot of customers on the mainland can afford. Cooking gas prices have more than doubled in less than a year, people now see meal of #1, 500 as luxury. Next months bill might be the nail in the coffin.

States like Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Oyo, definitely get more than 80 percent of their daily electricity supply from generators..
So Ekiti and Osun are better?

In my area, we enjoy at least 20hrs electricity per day except Saturdays. I had to give out my gen cos it became almost useless

the problem is power generation , federal government is not generating enough power. but the distribution is very tough in Nigeria as low income earners finds it difficult to pay for light bill , that's why some people will have light for 18hrs per day while some will have just 3 -6 hrs in the same city .
