Taking a nose-dive to yesterday's match, I could see that Gavi was deployed to play the CAM and Nico, box-to-box, during the latter part of the match.


Got me thinking, what if actually play DeJong as a holding Midfielder at some point and bench Busquets? This way, we'd have a midfield of Jong, Nico, Pedri or Puig. The only reason I think Jong is not been trusted to play DM is cos of his inability to withstand pressure, from bigger teams but maybe we can work on that since he's done it before in Ajax and would most likely do it again, if given the chance.

This is because if a first team player gets red-carded, then we automatically lose the game because you must have at least 7 first team player at every time.

Such a ridiculous rule. It impedes the growth of these youth players.

Barça are already working to register Nico and Gavi as first team players in January to avoid this situation again.

Xavi have been complaining since yesterday. But it's quite funny cos most of these boys have been playing up till now, majorly due to the unfortunate injuries plaguing the team. So I don't know why La Liga is enforcing that rule now.

They're not enforcing it like we can't play with four youth team players if we wanted to.

It is just that playing more than 3 youth players in a first-team match carries with it a big risk, such that if one of the first team players were to be given a red card, that would reduce the number of first-team players to 6 on the pitch, which will technically mean that we have lost the match since you can't play a match with less than 7 first-team players.

It is a matter of technicality here.
