"Recruiting young engineers across the nation" you say? Is Bauchi and Kano " the nation" or is it "across the North"? You lay hundred of kilometers of pipes to load crude oil from the East to your CBN funded refinery in Lagos. You won't go to Bauchi to lay pipelines for crude, neither will you go to Kano... But when it comes to job opportunities in this sector, you first focus on those you consider as "your people"!

This is the kind of One Nigeria they desperately want. You have all the jobs at the Ministry of Petroleum. All the jobs at NNPC and PPMC. All the jobs in the Customs and Army and Police and all that.... Now this... What are Eastern youths from where this resources are being exploited supposed to do? Go to Malaysia and Cambodia to hussle. Abi? While you and your brothers from the desert inherit the earth?
It won't work like that na..

But try to reason that the refinery was first of all situated in the south, also the state will benefit, also the community and businesses around will also benefit, moreover the person recruiting is also from the south,I am a southerner, but don't like to c d truth and still b a saddist.

We have issue in this country, the fact that the sch is in the north doesn't mean that all the students are all northerners, I'm a graduate of atbu and i can authoritative tell u that they are more southerners in atbu faculty of engineering than northerners.

Well, I think it's rare to find a high number of northerners in serious private businesses(Nigerian-owned and foreign-owned). Just like you won't find a decent number of them pursuing and/or qualifying for global schemes like Canadian Express Entry, foreign scholarships etc. They however have a strong presence in Nigerian state-owned institutions like nnpc, cbn, fed ministries, etc. I might be wrong though, but I think this is the general perception.
foreign scholarship? grin grin……see even you go to CBN, NNPC and other fed ministries. Southerners are there. It’s a northerner that is heading CBN?

Nice one from Mr
Dangote.

He should also extend the same gesture to other schools, especially sourthen tertially institutions.

You obviously didn't read the lettet
Re: Dangote Oil Refinery Absorbs 3 Consecutive Set Of ATBU Engineering Graduates by Yankee101: 1:26pm On Dec 22, 2021
The letter is to all major universities, ATBU decided to share their own letter online

If you don't know, universities get these kinds of mails ALL the time for both jobs and scholarships.

What some schools do is to hide the letter and send only three or more chosen candidates, that way, the fewer the candidates the more their chances. Hausa man just shared his own online cos hausa man dey more open like that

Is it Nigeria's project?
It's Chinese company. Did it take them life time to connect Europe with gas pipeline from Arab and Russia?

From the content of the Letter, your topic is so misleading.
ATBU happened to be one of the numerous Universities he wrote to.
But you made the topic to appear as if he beamed his searchlight only on ATBU, and thus neglecting the whole lots of other Nigerian Universities.

I said ATBU in the headline because the letter belongs to them. In the write-up, I made it clear that he promised the same thing to KUST, ABU has been benefiting from his recruitments. Also the letter make it clear that he intends to employ graduate Engineers across the Nation not only those schools.
I took part as a delegate of Young Engineers in a meeting in 2019 whereby we appealed to him and Abudssamad BUA to employ graduate Engineers especially from Kano and Jigawa. The meeting was convened by Jigawa-Kano professionals forum, NSE of the two states branches lead by Vice President, World Federation of Engineering (WFEO), Engr.MUSTAPHA Balarabe Shehu.
I'm upbeat this recruitment will cut across the Nation!

He did not absorb anything

He will still test them to select the best fit

Their first class and 2:1 are the only test that will qualify them for the job!

Lol. They hv started filling it up with illiterates.

Just like the did to Dpr n nnpc.

Today. A simple refinery they can't build. Cus they think lifting crude n collecting % is everything.
Engineers shocked illiterate again, i don't understand, please bro help me understand, how can in all sincerity describe graduate engineers as illiterate. Abi! did they change the meaning of 'illiterate' in the dictionary?

Honestly, seems you have an obsession with Igbo or Igbo.

I said FUTO is one of the best engineering schools in Nigeria which is/has never been/and will never be in dispute but you were quick to show your endemic disdain for anything Igbo.

Bro, being one of the best isn't the same as being the best. And Yea, FUTO is better than most Universities of Technology. Go figure.

Please you need to let go of this ethnic disdain for the Igbo tribe. Don't allow Nairaland mess with your psyche.
Bro! Prove it nah, we need statistics, ranking etc, we are in the 21st century, remember! you can't just make claims and expect us to believe it, just like that, so bro! provide proof pls.

Calm down bro. I graduated from University of Nigeria this year, and our HOD told us about Dangote Refinery's interest in us. I guess they contacted quite a number of schools across the nation.

Whatever the case may be this is a different recruitment process that he is appealed to offer and it's equally stated in the attached letter that only first class and 2:1 will be sent!

I created the thread and I'm very happy that I took part in the meeting 2019 after NSE AGM that took place in Kano that resulted in the recruitment of Young Engineers.

Cool. That's good to know. If you're truly from Rivers State? Then why make such statement that there's no place called Obigbo in Rivers?

That some part of land was carved from Old IMO State by Justice Mamman Nasir and placed in Rivers because of Melford Okilo's insecurities that "it is closer to Port Harcourt, the Capital City" didn't make it loose it's origin? That it was renamed to Oyigbo didn't make the indigenes stop seeing themselves as who they are.

What you're saying is like Yorubas saying that there's no place like "Eko" in Nigeria because what's in the constitution is "Lagos", a name the Portuguese gave the beautiful Island.

Lastly, I always ask people like you this question: What makes an Egbema man from Ohaji/Egbema LGA in IMO state an "Igbo Man" and an Egbema man from Ogba/Ndoni/Egbema LGA (ONELGA) LGA in Rivers State a "South South/Niger Delta Man"

Las Las, Ndigbo will survive all these.

Hmmm so you saying this places are not really rivers per SE

please can you shine more light on Ogba/Ndoni/
Egbema history and exciting facts. You seem knowledgeable

Am curious I have connections to them

Good day Sir,

Well. In Ogba/Ndoni/Egbema (ONELGA) L.G.A of Rivers State are three sets of people - The Ogba People, The Ndi-Onuiyi (renamed Ndoni) people and the Egbema people.

I have little or no knowledge about the Ogba people but I can say few things about the Ndoni people and also know much about Egbema.

Ndoni people (originally Ndi-Onuiyi) have relationships and can be said to be Siblings of the people of Ogbaru in Anambra State. Similar tongue, similar food, similar culture and tradition. But just as usual, being in Rivers State makes the current offsprings of Ndoni see the man from Ogbaru as an "Alien" while that from far away Edo or Cross River States is a "brother" because they are from the same "South South" region (which doesn't even exist constitutionally same as SE, NW, SW, etc).

The Egbema people are one and the same people under one traditional stool - the Nze Obi stool. When all Egbemas where in Imo State, the late King, the Great Nze-Obi S.N. Uzor was the leader of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers. Due to Nigeria's abracadra, Egbema was split into two with the greater part of Egbema in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of IMO State and the lesser in Ogba/Ndoni/Egbema LGA of Rivers State.

Now the Egbema have 2 Nze-Obi stools. One for those in IMO State and another for those in Rivers State but they all pay respect to the one in IMO State. Some time ago (early 2000s), some Egbema people wanted to push for a return to IMO state same as those from Obigbo. They even wanted to make the son of the Nze-Obi of Egbema (IMO state) as the new Nze-Obi of the Egbema in Rivers State.

But these days, geo-political regions now define blood relationships, bloodlines, and ancestry. The younger generations are busy shouting that "Igbo people want to claim Rivers State and Delta States" without making proper research and/or asking questions.

I wrote that to burst his bubble and also enlighten him and others (in case they don't know).

Udo.

Lastly, Ndoni was cut out from Old Delta State while Egbema was used as balancing between IMO and Rivers States cause of Obigbo.
