Ingrates for rejecting $80 as Hazard allowance? How much is a wardrobe allowance for those in the house of rep? What hazard do they face that is much more than a medical practitioner?

If you cannot afford them, then allow them leave to where they will be appreciated, with actual medical equipments. Your useless country expects Dr to lick their assess with no medical equipments, while offering them peanuts, yet expect productivity.

If they want to be collecting the type of allowance thst politicians collect. they should go and contest or rather still they should join a private hospital

They divert patient from government hospitals to their private clinics all in the name of specialist and spend little time st their working place

Let those union go to hell...... So they get the mind to reject free money..... I don't fucking care about the years these so called doctors spent in school..... It will continue like this until they do the needful for the other health personnel...... Doctor is not greater than nurse, they should be seeing as mate in medical field..... Everyone is unique in their area of specializations.......

Let them set their home in order, then government will listen to them........

From what u have written, u haven't said anything that helps us understand the justification of legislators high pay compared to that of doctors. All u are saying is that legislators are adhoc and doctors are permanent. Can u pls explain how this justifies the huge pay of legislators as compared to doctors?

U also asked: "do u know how much these lawmakers spent to be there?"

We don't no. Kindly tell us and explain how it justifies their huge pay.

Also u asked: "Can they do what ppl at the national assembly do..?"

Pls what are the things people at the national assembly are doing that u feel can't be done by others hence their huge pay?

Its actually small compared to the risk they face on a daily basis. Instead of giving them money government should be more proactive by doing a form of comprehensive insurance not just for themselves but for their families.
So that they dont just end up using the money to flex or divert it to other things.
Lassa, ebola, covid are killers. Thats if we will accept cos money doesnt solve our problem we need mechanisms to solve the problem when they arrive

I understand but also remember that doctors are one of the highest paid government employees in Nigeria.

Don't also forget that medical school is almost free in Nigeria apart from the people who passed through private universities.

How much do government pay the teachers who impacted the knowledge in them from primary to secondary and university?

Earning less than $500 in a whole month is what you are calling highest paid?. How do you guys reason like this. As against the WHO standard of at least $3000 per month. On top of that you still owe them salaries for months. They are just asking for hazard allowance to be reasonable in respect of the hazard they face on a daily basis. What is 40k nitori olorun.

You guys are always quick to mention wardrobe allowances. Please go and contest for elective positions. You think politics is easy? Besides, most of them give this Money out as a gift to their community or engaged in developmental projects.

Can't remember when a health worker dash Money to someone. Owe any hospital in Nigeria 5k and they won't discharge you untill you pay completely.

Too many ignorant people....
Someone said medical school is almost free in Nigeria in public universities, another one said lawmakers go through tougher risks than medical practitioners, another one said medical practitioners are part of the highest paid workers in Nigeria.....
Stop reading useless blogsites!! Y'all won't listen, see your lives now, spewing rubbish all around....
Firstly, medical school has never been free or "almost free" in Nigeria.... As far as all the public universities in Nigeria is concerned, they are the ones who pay the highest school fees among all faculties and departments in universities....
Moreso, as far as Nigeria is concerned, the only risk lawmakers are facing is from fellow evil-minded politicians, doctors are exposed to communicable diseases daily, in fact medical practitioners are all exposed to several diseases, they live with the risk of death daily. The allowances paid to lawmakers can never be justified by the useless stealing job they are doing. How people are paid newspaper allowance of over 1m, newspaper that they are supposed to read regardless of being paid for it or not!
Medical practitioners are not part of the highest paid anything in Nigeria, in fact they are underpaid in Nigeria, because how can a surgeon be struggling to collect #1m salary after studying for over 14 years while their counterparts all over the world collect more than 10x the amount monthly....
Mind you, we haven't even discussed that lack of facilities on these practitioners part, non- enabling environment and irregular payment of salaries....
We have a lot of work to do in and on Nigeria

The replies I see here speaks so much for us as a country. No wonder the country keeps falling apart and we can’t stand up for ourselves.

The myopic views of people is part of what’s killing the country. It’s so sad. I know for a fact , if you do have a doctor or nurse in the family, you’d understand better. The dangers they go through, the emotional trauma.

Doctors are not wicked, Lecturers are not wicked, Police are not wicked. They are all victims of circumstances molded by the conditions they find themselves in this country.

Do doctors in private hospitals act better ? Yes.
Do lecturers in private Universities act better?. Yes

When you work so hard and get so little, it molds you and changes your behavior. A bag of rice is 27k and police officers are paid from 50k upward probably.
Na one bag of rice family go chop for one month ?school fees ?house rent ?

Imagine you are sleeping and a nurse comes to wake you up to attend to accident victims at 2am(probably people like you coming from a club and driving recklessly),Severed limps, fractured skulls and blood everywhere.

You are in your house right now probably lying on your bed while doctors are there in the hospital doing their best to keep people alive and to make it worst, Most states are owing doctors 2- 12 months salary.
My mum’s friend retired as a nurse. She died last year from complications of HIV she got as a result of a needle stick injury(From an erratic patient). She never got her gratuity. She worked for 35 good years. She could have gotten her drugs with that gratuity but the government never paid it.

She was paid 5,000 Naira as hazard pay and ended up getting HIV. A medical doctor doesn’t just save lives , they get to live with your pain too.

In Nigeria , it’s like 1 doctor to more than 1,000 patients.

Last year December to new year, I was at the hospital because of a sick relative. There was only one doctor on call, it was obvious he was tired, mosquitoes was everywhere, he was running around , attending to people here and there at 2am.
I slept in the car that day , the next morning at 8am, he was still there , sitting at that same position attending to patients.
I went home, showered and came back with food for my relative around 11am and he was still there, same clothes, same shoe, eyes bloodshot, fatigue written in his eyes….
At the end of the day, he gets to go home with 200k while your so called politician sit in their air conditioned Lexus LX570 and you come here to call doctors ingrates.
I hope you were delivered at home as a baby and not at the hospital. Try to volunteer for a week at the hospital then you’d understand that 500k per month can’t even do justice to the work they do.

Please reevaluate your misconceptions about medical personnels.
PS: forgive my typos.

Where is it almost free? Mention the school and their fees. If Nigerians are used to half baked Dr, some of us are not. Pay medical practitioners what they deserve as a global practice.

Who asked any politician to give anyone gift? Where they elected to be Father Christmas or they were elected to serve the electorate? You want hospitals to be free, when was the last time your politician donated Syringe to any healthcare center in your community?

Politicians feed you peanuts and you think it is his money, whereas it is what is being allocated to your constituents, they share it to some few leaving the majority to die from whatever and you’re here singing songs of praise for them. You’re a mad man

Let's be honest work salaries around the world is based on demand and supply
In some part of the world the where !doctors are in high demand their salaries are higher
In some climes its nurses
In some its drivers
While in some its the house maid
There was a time in Nigeria when bankers where the highest paid
But now its rubbish
Someone talked of marine engineers getting 80k per day, its simply because they are not much around

Thats why advanced countries recruit foreign workers because they can't really afford salaries of their nationals

If you wanna talk about those getting more hazard allowance then i think it should be the army or police
That are dying everyday at the war front
But their daily allowance is nothing compared to the doctors that have their own private hospitals

If I’m a Dr, I will do the same. Government hospital has the highest death rate because of unavailability of medical equipments, if a patient requires more medical treatment, where are they supposed to go if not Private hospitals with those equipment? If you sick when he reach your turn, stay govt hospital without electricity.

And FYI, the USD is a global trade currency, if politicians earn their estacodes in USD, and the likes. Dr are also privy to use the USD as a yardstick to ask for more because your government cannot rubbish the Naira and expect everyone to join them in taking less. Some of us are not slave
