Hello Guys

Happy New year in advance

So I have filled my Ds160 form because I am trying to apply again and I coincidentally got a tuition scholarship from my intended school after my visa denial. My problem is in the process of scheduling a date I was asked if I was refused visa recently (within 2months) - please see in the attached. when I click on that option of being denied recently there are no dates available, however when I click on the other? there are available dates available for late 2022. Has anyone encountered this and what do I do?.
falilat2021:
Hello Everyone,

Seasons greetings.

I was refused visa 1st week in December because I had spent 3months in the us on Visit visa which was (July 2021- Nov 2021).

V.O: Why are you going to the Us.

Me: I am going to ....for my MBA program

V.O: Have you been to the Us before?

Me: Yes a couple of times

V.O: For?

Me: Vacation

V.O: You came back from the Us last month-Nov and you spent 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!!

V.O: Without listening to what I had to say she started typing

Me: I was on vacation for the first 3 weeks, whilst on it I developed interest in pursuing an MBA, I had written my standardised exam already so it was a good opportunity. I asked for permission from my office to work remotely whilst I visit my school of interest in the US and process my admission. This request was easily granted because we have been working remotely since the pandemic. I came back immediately I finalised with my school of interest and got my I-20

V.O: She just kept typing and not looking at me and said you don't need to be in US for your I-20. She looked annoyed

Me: At this point I was just sad and dint understand what was happening, I said to her but I have good travel history and I only used this last visa because it was about to expire and I dint use the one before that. it was the condition the last vo who issued this visa gave me.

V.O: She said I know but 3months?? and gave me the blue paper

I have cried and picked myself already. But I don't know what the next step should me. To make it more painful? The school gave me a full scholarship last week lol. in my head I am like this ones don't know they have denied me visa.

You know what funny? I called Us port of entry while in the US to ensure I was not doing anything wrong or overstaying, they said I was given 6months and so I don't exceed that..

I have been told that they expect pp to spend the same number of time spent in the Us in their home country before applying again.

Should I reapply or start my program online while I try later on in the year.

Onweke:
Please I noticed that most applicants here use universities instead of college. I have BSC from Nigeria and got I20 for Associate degree at portland community college.

Is using a college a red flag ?
Does the VO check academic progression ?.

Should I continue with the sevis payment and visa application ?
YES it's a red flag
YES they check academic progression
And YES you can go ahead and pay SEVIS fee if you like, the decision is yours

Good afternoon all,

I just got admitted into the University of Arizona for the 2022 fall semester. However, I am sad that I was not given any form of scholarship to reduce the expenses.

I want to find out if it is feasible to be given visa without getting scholarship.
Good day, please I applied to the same school too, but no response yet, applied for PhD.

You aren't even married yet, and you already have an admission. Are you going to get married before resumption?.

Going for interview with your newly married wife within such short duration is kind of risky. It will look like you guys married just to be together in the US, my own opinion though. Wait and hear from others

Thank you for your response

Hi good morning, if you are getting married soon before your interview, and you won't be going back to Nigeria, I guess you both plan to have a distant wedding right? However, you stand a greater chance of getting the visa than her because of your location. I will advise you tell your wife to hold on and not apply now as your wedding might come off as emergency and plan to Japa to the VO. She can apply months later, at least 3 months later isn't a bad idea. All the best.

Thank you

Is your wedding before interview and are you getting married in Europe or Nigeria?
If your wedding is before the interview and she has a tangible thing she's doing in Nigeria that will prevent her from leaving with you to the US then she can apply with you.
Another one is you apply alone and she come to meet you. However, if you are both going together then you have to conclude on one place that either of you have strong home ties.

Best of luck

Thank you

Me- My guardian, Mr xyz, he's also my employer he own d bld construction company I work here in Abuja?
Vo- so he'll be paying for $60k in 2 yrs?
Me- yes, he'll sponsoring me for the 2 yrs he owns a construction company..

Me- I'm a registered Quantity Surveyor working with xyz ltd here in Abuja, I carry out...cuts

Me-my immediate plan is to return back to my current place of work to take up a senior role as a Construction Project manager where I'd use the knowledge skill and exposure gained to get effectively handle all types of buildings..

I kinda felt it was because of no funding, he was thinking how my sponsor will pay the $60k in 2yrs by the way he asked, my guardian son is also in the US he just completed his masters and doing his Opt, I intend to apply again for Fall2022 when I get funding from the schools I've applied to

Pls I'm in dire/urgent need for strong letter of recommendation for Masters in Construction Management, so my recommenders can send to boost my application, pls indicate if you have, so I can email you, thanks in advance

When you stated my guardian, you should have told the VO if he has been responsible for your fees wayback and other sundry expenses. All these VOs know that rarely will you see your Oga pay that sum of money. What would be his benefit? Try and get a scholarship or another sponsor (relative)

Hi guys I got denied under section 214b at Abuja embassy on Nov 4th.
Heres my transcript and I will be deferring my admission to properly restructure for new interview.
Vo: After greetings with the Mr Korean.
He asked me where I'm going to study.
Me: University of Findlay.
Vo: which course
Me: masters of science in environmental safety and health management.
Vo: I see you have funding how will you cover the deficit
Me: my uncle is gonna pay for me he works at yzx
VO: have you travel out of the country
Me: Yes.
He handed me the blue paper.

My observations are: I indicated that I'm single, & my last job was in Dubai which I recently quit because I have to come to Nigeria for visa. So this shows that I don't have strong ties in Nigeria like wife, job or investment.
Now in my next application for visa I want to indicate that I have married within the last 4 month, I have 7 siblings & my parents and I have a new job with my salary like $1400k & will change my sponsor to my father from my uncle or can I use a company as a sponsor with the agreement of deducting 30% from my salary after coming back? Kindly advise me thank you

I highly doubt that matters since there isn't date if you click the other option so why not go for regular. Aside that that's the method a lot of people followed & that didn't affect them.

Hello All,

I see a number of guys that are recently denied complaining that couldn't get another date. Well, from my experience, you have to keep checking till the date shows up oo. I don't advise you to choose the regular option, you definitely don't want to blow up your opportunity again.

It took me about 14 days of constantly checking to see Sept 2022. I chose the date and applied for EA which got approved yesterday.

NB: I was denied December 1st in Lagos and my new application is in Abuja.

Hello All,

I am in a little bit of fix. My questions are in two parts.
I was delayed in Lagos on 20th of December by one elderly black woman after she asked my age (Over 30) and marital status (Single) as the last questions before handing me the blue paper. I applied to a college for a course relating to my current profession but I have a BSc degree in a non related course. What do you think I am doing wrong?
Also, I have since filled another DS160, booked appointment in Lagos but my EA was rejected. I filled a second DS160, pick Abuja, hoping to get EA there but my problem is that I can't seem to find how to change my appointment to Abuja. Do i need to cancel and reschedule?
My resumption date is 4th of January.

Congratulations bro, please what was your overall CGPA in your first and second degree? and also how were you able to secure the scholarship, as I intend also applying for a PhD program

Hi. I’m really sorry about this coming later.
A Second class upper in the first.
A Merit in the second.

My Masters was way better and very close to a distinction. No C’s. All A’s and B’s.

From my experience, rather than what your GP is, they want to see what you got in the relevant courses, and that’s why they ask for your transcript.

Congratulations on your approval!! Could you also share your educational background such as course, CGPA, and GRE range if applicable please? This could potentially help other intending students make decisions.

Undergrad: Maths
Masters: Pure & Applied Maths
Work experience: Programming, Software Support, Maths Tutor, Real Estate

GRE 306
Second class upper in Undergrad
Merit in Masters, much better though. Close to a distinction.

Hello,

I'm here to inquire about the required proof of funds for an F1 Visa.

My parent (mum) will be my sponsor. However, she requested to deposit the money (Cost of Appearance) in my bank account so I can have full access to it.

Is this going to be a problem? and do I still need to provide her statement of account too?

And like this, is it going to be Personal Fund or Family Fund?

Thank you.

i highly disagree with this, being self sponsored is very risky, i did it my first interview and i think it was the cus of of my denial, its better she leaves in her account and have her as your sponsor only.

Vo: I can see this is a master’s program.
Me: Yes it is
Vo: Do you have relatives in the US?
Me: No, My relatives are here in Nigeria
Vo: Have you travelled to the US before?
Me: I have not had a reason to, this will be my first time.
VO: Who is sponsoring your trip?
Me: My Uncle….*VO cuts in*
VO: What does he do?
Me: He’s the owner of bla bla bla bla.
VO: Ok, Do you have any relatives in the US?
Me: I don’t , all my relatives are here in Nigeria.
VO: *mumbling some things and reaching out for blue paper*

So here’s the thing. While filling out my DS-160. I selected ‘No’ for the relatives in US section. It was after I submitted that it dawned on me that I have distant cousins that I don’t even remember because I’ve not had such relationship with them. I don’t even know their names.
Notice from the above that he asked me that question twice! Well I don’t know what the exact reason is, I guess it was the funding.

I had to defer my admission to fall 2022. In the hopes that I’d get some sort of funding from the school

Please if my I-20 form indicate is my sister in the U.S that is sponsoring me, Is it ideal for her surname to be the same with mine to make the V.O believe that we are related?

I20 doesn’t indicate the sponsor location.

It’s when asked “Who is your sponsor?” that you give details of who she is and to you. E.g, My sponsor is Mrs ABC who is my sister, she works and has so so.

Ofc, you can’t tell me someone is your sister and your surname doesn't correlate, unless she is married sha.
