slimanyd:Good... That's what I'm saying, that whichever way it ends he'll be Oba. But if you read the article carefully, that coronation by Ajimobi is still being disputed by parties with vested interest. So if the final outcome strips Balogun of his Obaship, then he'll be crowned the next Olubadan. Actually, to be the next Olubadan he just needs to relinquish his current title and it needs to be gazetted by the SG, and all is well. My 2 cent. |

Facts well stated and we'll elaborated.. This is what you get when you desperately go after something... I think the former governor is the one to be blamed for this problem!! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Kingbenn: Ibadan doesn't really have a tradition. It was a pathway to other Yoruba towns. It was, I think in the 60s they started having kings. As such, Ibadan kings are not traditionally Yoruba king. The city of Ibadan was given kingship because of it's popularity as being the largest city in West Africa and former capital of the old Western region. In order to avoid controversies the whole process of crowning king was meticulously arranged 5 Likes |

ejimatic: God bless you. In thesame write up, the AG agreed that the law doesn't recognize them as kings, so how will the law now recognize them as kings when it comes to succession. Just come out clean that you want to crown Rasheed Ladoja your mentor as King. Besides the Ajimobi plan is neither here nor there. After all Olubadan also became a King by elevation of his stool in 1936. I think the Ladoja faction is the one that shot itself in the foot. It would have been a different story had they allowed Ajimobi plan to stay 1 Like |

Buccalcavity2:Stop confusing yourself and others like you. The ex AG letter is self explanatory enough, all hope is not lost for him to be installed as king although its not sure for him yet. But the power to install the next Olubadan is now more in the hands of the governor and this is because of the legal case. 5 Likes 1 Share |

ejimatic: How would he be made olubadan, when he has an existing suit to be recognized as a beaded king and not chief still pending in court. He cannot claim any benefit from an institution he is fighting against. The Ex AG said until he withdraws the said suit, he cannot lay claim to the stool of olubadan. The next to him is Rasheed lajoda, and he is the next olubadan INSHA ALLAHU. 6 Likes 1 Share

Femeto: Just eight months of delay and you already hate Yorubaland your ancestral homeland. What if linger on like my hometown that span up to 24 years before they could install a new King? What could you say then? Obaship will continue to remain a tussle as long as the world remains. And in Yorubaland, it is difficult to have just one ruling house. Even if their is just one ruling house conflicts will emerged. 2 Likes |

Kingbenn: Are you more aligned to an arrangement where kings must come from particular families and other families must serve the royal family?. To me, that's not a fair arrangement, where some elites restrict the kingship to their families alone. Ibadan has no royal family. I love that. They are all equal and all ibadan children are potentially heirs to the throne IF such children can follow the laid down procedure. To me, that fairness and equity. 5 Likes |

Lekan Balogun is a king already and so cannot be installed as king over another Kingdom...Adewolu Ladoja is next in line to the throne except the court rule otherwise. This is season of Lawyer chopping belleful again Some people are just not fit to be ordinary village headmaster. Ajumobi scattered a system that had worked for ages just because of cheap score he wanted to settle with the late king and Lekan Baloo and his co travellers were ready tools to be deployed for the hatchet job not knowing it's coming back to cost him like this.... According to the system, he would simply just have strolled to the throne unopposed...but now letters and counter letters will be flying....I just pray for wisdom for seyi makinde 3 Likes |

Buccalcavity2:Try and get full understanding. If the Ajimobi plan was not rejected and challenged by Ladoja, Ladoja would either have become an Oba too or lost his position in the hierarchy. It was obvious the Ajimobi plan was not well thought out but borne of arrogance. If not, he would have been informed that the implication of his actions is that all those who received crowns and staff of office automatically lose their right to the olubadan stool. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

illicit: That's illogical. Otun Olubadan and Balogun, according to the Yoruba culture and traditional are nothing more than a chief or chiefs. Balogun/Otun and King can't be in the same sentence, except you want to rewrite Yoruba history. A king is a King, a chief is a chief, no matter how powerful the chief is, he's still but what, a chief. The argument of the learned counsel, that an King (or Oba) cannot be elevated to being a king is very correct and tenable. Thank you and God bless you. 7 Likes |

babadee1: Historically they are as good as Kings especially the Balogun He has his own chiefs Otun Balogun, osi Balogun, eketa, ekerin, ekaruj, ekefa et Al just like the olubadan, on the Balogun side there are 22 steps, Balogun is the Pinnacle On the olubadan side, there are 21 steps, the Pinnacle is olubadan This actually means that the olubadan and Balogun are at par They are Ibas not Obas per se Ibas are titles for people who are Kings in their rights but can't be called oba because they are not the crowned figure Balogun especially means obalogun, king at war/on the field, just like Aare who must not stay in a town with a king In short I mean a Balogun in Ibadan is synonymous to aare and as good as a king as he even has chiefs Atobatele 5 Likes 1 Share |

That is why our forefathers in their wisdom says: whenever you are digging hole for your enemy, let it not be too deep because; you are already in that same hole.... This goes to "OBA" Senator 'Lekan Balogun and the litigation he is sponsoring against himself. For the sake of moral examination and of fair justice.... Would he quash the case and have his way to the stool of highly refered Olubadan of Ibadan or for the sake of pride and personal aggrandizement continue with the case and hold the entire citizenry of Ibadan land into ransom. High Chief Senator Rasidi Ladoja and other well meaning Nigerians have seen this time ahead and tried to avoid it but Late Gov. Abiola Ajimobi and co resisted the urge to do what is right but rather chose to manufacture problem for the future. Lakan Balogun is the proverbial war monger who after conquered everyone at war; wagged war against himself. Gbogbo wa la o pada wa di itan. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Kingbenn:All Ibadan indigents are entitled to the throne since all are sons of the soil… think about it, what gave one family entitlement over the others if everyone is born in the same land? Therefore i think Ibadan has the fairest system in Yoruba land; except some politicians are causing confusion every now and then for their own selfish interests! 1 Like |

Munamu:. Has the siut been entertained? Do you know why it was abandoned? As long as it has not been entertained he remains a chief not a king.No court in Nigeria has pronounced him a king! He is the next king of Ibadan. As he becomes the king abandoned suit is status barred. This is my opinion with due respect to all Ibadan people. |

Buccalcavity2: How would a reasonable and forward thinking person allow such illegality to thrive Lekan Balogun didn't help the matter. He refused to relinquish that useless Ahimobi's beaded crown and worked against the out of court settlement... The only court case that is standing in the way of announcing the new Olubadan is the one Lakan Balogun instituted against the state. Let him shamelessly withdrawn the case and make a public apology for his mutiny against the stool of Olubadan, Olubadan in Council and all Ibadan indigens....
