Unpopular opinion, but please do so. This has been a long time coming.

Civil servants in Nigeria are the laziest set of people in the world. Truth is the civil service sector in Nigeria is oversaturated and filled with workers who add no value to their parastatals and are still stuck with analogue methods of operations.

Once they get into that office, life ends for them - no progress, no career development, just lazy life all the way till they retire and wait for their pensions.

Ghost workers on the payroll alone costs Nigeria about 10BN naira monthly, why not cut that off. Stem the slide into massive corruption presently going on in the federal civil service. Now you know you don't have any more term to campaign for, you are now showing your true colour.

I pity those that just "bought" a federal govt job recently.

We really need to thank God for crude oil because Niger Republic would have been better than Nigeria without it.

BTW, I thought they said that federal workers have the highest level of job security? Yeye dey smell. In life, nothing is guaranteed.

Long overdue. The civil service should be pruned by 70%. Especially those high paying MDAs with redundant employees, all of whom got their jobs through the back door.

I support this, majority of civil servants in Nigeria have no business being civil servants. All they do is come to work do nothing and gossip till night then go back home

The civil service is a waste, efficiency to development of the federation is less than 20%. The only thing they know is how to bully the citizens and cry woof when there's none.

If we think we don't need some of these tough actions to grow Nigeria, we are insincere and only a Buhari at his twilight of his administration can carry out some of the radical reform.
The only problem is that he lacks effective communication with the citizens.

Unserious policy from the govt. There’s unofficial behind the scenes recruitment going on as we speak in about half of the MDAs. Why do we keep deceiving ourselves.

This is another politically motivated policy rather than economic. It’s so obvious

I just hope this is not true at all.. People are already going through worst times,the labour market is already over saturated, inflation everywhere. How will families cope.. More job losses, more hardship.. Buhari government is indeed a curse to most Nigerians.

Tough decision, but the right one! Nigeria's civil service is grossly overstaffed, with many of them doing little to nothing. Technology and computers have made it possible to do with much less people. Can you imagine the number of secretaries still in civil service, when in most private companies secretaries are almost extinct, since you can type by yourself on laptops and send to printer or scan in a jiffy. Too much of government work is paper pushing , file carrying and is not productive and is archaic!!
