Looking at those pictures maintaince is their problem

its a Nigerian government plague. Coupled with untidy students who use these facilities.

The students are responsible, don't drag the VC or school management into this. Most of the female students are so dirty that they can't flush the toilet after use.

I was once a student and I know how dissapointing it was going to the rest room, only to find out it was used but left unflushed.

Same in my compound back then in Uni.

Unical is known for their slogan which is; read to know, sort to pass. One of the worst universities in Nigeria with back logs of students going for NYSC every year. I never knew their facilities could be all that dirty.

If you like, give them the type they are using in American White House, they will still mess it up especially the female users.
They are just like Policemen. Donate a new car to Police today. Come back in two months time and you will regret why u gave them the car. Same is applicable to where they live. They behave as if they are doing someone else good by keeping their house neat. So they will never maintain nor keep their houses clean.

You will see a menstruating student dropping her menstrual pad on the floor of the toilet. Meanwhile, she will be among those trying to avoid getting toilet infection.
Some will prefer urinating on the bare floor of the toilet to doing it inside the WC.
They are too dirty for my liking.

In bold: Female students in Nigeria have better hygiene culture than Oyibo female students. I am telling you from experience having passed through both divides.

In Nigeria, the university employees responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the toilet ends are either corrupt, or refuse to clean or maintain the toilet ends.

My brother!!!!! I sincerely advocate that other schools should start posting theirs on social media. This will make the authorities sit up. School Authorities will be busy painting buildings and constructing gates meanwhile areas that affect the welfare of the students including rest rooms are left in this type of condition.
How do you expect people raised under this condition to effect positive change in the society.

90% of the fault lies with the students...Some literally shyt & pee on the floor & expect the cleaners to pack thier shyt & mop the pee for them.
They do all this because it ain't thier father's house. Let cleaning of toilets be a shared responsibility between the inhabitants of all Federal hostels.

Yeah, that's the state of all hostels in UNICAL after the holidays but in Hall 6 and my wing, nah, this can't happen. We made sure to keep the toilet and bathroom clean and it was simply possible due to the fact that the hostel was kinda empty; now, with the resumption, the pigs of the hostel has returned. Just this Wednesday, and the toilet is disgusting.
The most funny part is even when we do cleanup as a wing, the cleaner still doesn't wash the toilet/bathroom; waiting for us the student to do it every time, which is wrong cause she is paid to do it. We washing it doesn't mean she wouldn't still do her job.

Yesterday, I made it vividly and politely clear to the cleaner that she ought to begin her job.

But honestly, I give credit to the VC Florence; since her administration began, the welfare and state of the hostels have been increasing gradually than in Akpagu's tenure.
Although, stepmother made life difficult for us..... UNICAL is not for the chicken-hearted nor the poor. I don't wish for my enemy to attend UNICAL..... E get why¡¡¡!!!

It's a Nigerian factor...our maintenance culture is horrible, and this applies not just to toilets but to every single infrastructure and facility we have.

Our maintenance culture as a nation have alway being abysmal from time immemorial.

The worst part of it is that this terrible maintenance culture cut across all sector and sphere of our economy.

I went to see a friend today in the hostel and took a walk around the bathroom area. The last time I saw a bathroom this dirty was far back in the boarding house, I never knew we have the same here.

Meanwhile, malabites and malabresses have resorted to bathing outside the bathrooms (they stay in the quadrangle). Despite the increments the VC (first female VC) is bringing on a daily basis, the state of the toilets in the hostel is this terrible.

. NIGERIAN pubic Universities are eyesores in terms of facilities. Yet they will be doing baseles gradings every year for public institutions. It may also interst you that all these eyesores will be covered during the visitation panel of the NUC. Whom do we blame? University administrators bribe the NUC visitation panel members to scale through assessment. Welcome to Nigeria where nothing is working since 1960...Corruption galore!

Why do we blame the university authorities for this kind of things, can’t the students clean up the toilet. Fresh dudes and fly babes Dey irritate to clean their own mess. If disease break out, they will still be the first victims.

Free things are never viable.
Students should pay rent to change this narrative.

Alvan Ikoku college Owerri.

Mbakwe administration spent millions of Naira to open a new campus for Alvan in Orlu in order to stem the overcrowding in the college.

Once Mbakwe left office, Owerri local politicians goaded the new military governor to close the campus in Orlu with a faint excuse that Alvan 2nd campus would not be viable. Overnight, the students and staff in Orlu returned to Owerri. The millions of Naira spent by Mbakwe administration went to the drains, Owerri thrives from students population in the town.

That dependency on students led to location of all six government tertiary education institutions in Imo state in Owerri, nothing for the other places in Imo state.

Dirty students.

Don't only blame the university authorities, the primary users are the students with an average age 20years! If they cannot, within themselves, keep the facilities clean...then they deserve to use the toilets and baths that way

this shows that no moral discipline among the students of that schools vc does not use that toilet neither lecturers.

This is not about the university. It is about everything wrong with Nigerians. Maintenance culture is zero. Build a new one and hand it over to the students, they will just mess it.

I detest anything or anywhere we have congregation of mostly Nigerian youths. It reeks of gross indiscipline, lawlessness and corner cutting.
