Late last year I submitted my application at one big private school in my area as a computer teacher. I was invited for interview and all which they said they'd call me back. Yesterday they now invited me to resume at the post. I met the principal and we talked about terms. then we got to salary. Can you imagine that I was to take 6 classes for just 25k. I begged for at least 35k so that I can be motivated enough for the work. But lai lai baba no gree. Baba was harping about me not being qualified enough to earn higher than that. Wait! se na certificate go come dey teach the students abi? I weak. I know that I am in need of a job but I can't come and kill myself What for now??Writing lesson note and all for six senior secondary classes I japa.. No be me and una! |

25k to take 6 classes? Wtf is that? No wonder alot of teachers are frustrated. The money I use in buying food stuff at home monthly is more than that amount.

Aside the really big ones, the pay for most of them is nothing to write home about. But then, you can earn more if you have students that you coach privately. As a teacher, if you know your onions, you can earn 6 figures. I charge as much as 40 or 50k for a child per month depending on the hours, some charge more. In some families, you get to teach 2/3 kids, that's more fun. You can be doing professional exams too to upgrade yourself so you can be eligible to prepare candidates for GRE, SAT, GMAT, IELTS etc. Good luck to you. |

If he said u r not qualified to be paid 35k, then tell him that u are not qualified to teach 6 classes. U r only qualified to teach 2 classes |

Goodlyhrt:lolz I taught four classes for 5k a month. I just left secondary, was very passionate about getting the students to learn. The standard in the school was just so low, I pushed myself to ensure my students became the best. But it was really hard getting only 5k per month while creating note for 14 topics every week for primary 5. And then notes on 3 subjects: maths, agric and basic science for jss 1-3. It was hell. Anyways, I later left when I got admission for medicine. The proprietress then thought I was leaving cos of the pay, so she offered to increase it. I did try sha. Cos when I met them, they couldn't solve 5 questions in Ugo c Ugo but when I left, the least person in the class can answer up to 24 questions correctly from any where in the textbook. |
