Are you minding Simi and her mediocre music, there are thousands of brilliant artists struggling for a ray for light and their music is far better Simi’s.

I guess when God shines his light on someone, it’s possible for the person to start feeling like she has all the answers.

I understand the grace part, but you don't leave your life to luck and chance.
What Simi said is very very vital if one must be successful.

I pity the people saying success is luck and chance.
You can never be successful with that kind of mentality, because success is a journey one sets out on deliberately.

Of course, luck plays a part in everyone's successful career, but you still need dedication and seriousness for you to succeed. Sometimes, talent alone just isn't enough. Look around you and see so many talented derelicts.

Looking for luck without hardwork will lead to you getting nothing, people who tends to work towards something are most times more luckier than this who don't do anything, which makes her right with what she posted.

the way we abuse grace in Nigeria is alarming. Don't get me wrong, grace exist but hard work comes before grace crown it all

Everyone sets out to succeed, but not even everyone who is hardworking succeeds.

That is why luck can never be overemphasized. It is, in fact, more important than talent.

It's not everyone who sets on the journey of success and works hard that is going about it the right way.
What do you think is talent, for you to take the position that luck is more important than talent?
Talent is closely related to knowledge.
A man who knows what to do will go further than the one waiting for that "day" (luck).
Did Singapore/Indonesia get to where they are today by luck or more investment in knowledge?
Answer.

There are many writers who have great books, but will never be successful writers.

JK Rowling had a great book (her first Harry Potter book), but she got rejected severally, until luck smiled on her. Many other potentially great writers may die with their talent simply because they were not lucky enough to find a publisher who realizes the finer qualities of their works.

William Golding was a British writer who won a Nobel prize. His famous novel "Lord of the Flies" was rejected by 19 publishers who thought he wasn't talented enough, or that the book would never sell. When eventually a publisher took his chances with the book, it became a success.

Let us explore music.

What do you suppose Wizkid is doing better than thousands of upcoming artistes in Nigeria? Does he sleep fewer hours? Is he the most talented?

That guy that sang "One Corner", tell me what is so special about that song? Yet, it became a success in the sense that it became well played. The guy has gone down perhaps because he is talentless, but luck made his "One Corner" song enjoy massive airtime.

Knowing what to do is not enough. Knowing how to write and get published doesn't mean you will automatically get published, no matter how great your manuscript is. You need luck in the form of an editor finding something worthy. And as you know, all these things are sometimes down to a matter of personal taste. Without luck, you may not even be able to maximize your chances of getting published.

Did Singapore/Indonesia get to where they are today by luck or more investment in knowledge?
Answer.
Let us say while they have planned everything, a pandemic comes and sets everything backward.

My brother, luck comes first.

Let me be more academic with you.

In the field of business management, there are four factors that can impact a business.

They are:

Strength (which are within the control of the business)

Weakness (aso within the control of the business).

Then, there are:

Opportunities (which are not largely under the control of the business).

Threats (which are not largely under the control of the business).

So, even if you have talent (your strength), you may need a whole lot of luck to overcome threats to your success, which are largely beyond your control).

Don't get me wrong. Talent is great, and can keep you there, especially after you have had luck.

Wande Coal met Don Jazzy through a very unusual mean. He squeezed a demo into Don Jazzy's hands during a live performance in which Wande was an audience at the time. Don Jazzy could have thrown that demo away. He could have misplaced it somehow. In fact, Wande might have been unsuccessful in his attempt to get his demo across. But luck made Don Jazzy keep the demo. Luck made Don Jazzy (who probably receives loads of upcoming music every minute) to take interest well enough to listen to Wande's song.

Someone else may try Wande's tactic and fail to land a music contract. The difference may not be talent, but luck.

Consider Goodluck Jonathan, and someone like Atiku Abubakar. Atiku had designed his way to the presidency. In fact, he has been in politics since the 1990s. But look how Jonathan became president so easily.

If you go through your own write up, you will discover that most of the people who got lucky, had it because they persevered.
I am not ruling out luck as well, but I refuse to believe that it's the major factor in success.
Compare countries, go through their histories, mention any first world country that got their by luck instead of careful planning.
