Beautiful structures but can we Nigerians maintain them? I fact most traders would rather use the shops for warehouse then display their goods on the streets.

The stupid Abia State Governor wont see this type of market. Ariaria is an eye store with multibillion naira transaction going on there

I don't know why our markets should not be friendly and welcoming. Always congested, with filths and dirt everywhere.

Build industries and stop giving us markets

Nice point bro, I wonder when our leaders would understand that wealth creation comes by industrializing and not building shops

Igbos will start rushing there now not minding that it is in a boko haram infested state. Igbos no dey use eye see lockup shops cheesy

Every tribe can invest in the market, the difference is that Igbo man will see opportunities in this "Boko Haram infested" state while others prefer to be cautious.

Then when the Igbo man makes it, you will the likes of Malami telling us that Igbos should allow murderous fulani herdsmen free access to their land because they allowed us in the North.

The question then is did Igbos take the shops by force? Were the shops given to them free or they bought or rented it?

If my fellow ibos refused to use the market as they did to yaba international market, Lagos, eye. That's means is a waste of money.

But I know they won't refuse the market cos Hausa people were more considerate and less greedy than our SW neighbors.

Fashola wasted billions to construct many markets in Lagos but was rejected by business men

Please why were they rejected?

Four modern markets with 3,200 shops built by Gov. Mala Buni.

Local market or plaza ??

Cause I don’t know how building buildings for the sole purpose of buying and selling is looking this tech, blacks seize opportunity a lot. So who suffers it ??

The buyers

You are renting out a store space for a 100000 per year, please who indirectly pays for this rent

Do we need more stores ??

or more farmers and hunters and great thinkers

These shops will remain empty almost forever because Hausa/fulani are not used to modern stuffs. They'll rather occupy the spaces in-between the shops than rent one.
Very ancient folks, tueh

If am in a war zone, I would buy my food from road side sellers.

Nigerians have short term memory. Even if they bomb that market, two weeks later. life goes on waiting for another attack.

Is no the function of a state government to build market. Rather it is a local government function to build market so I don't see this as an achievement by a state government.

Simple but very functional design!!

Note sure there is anything like this in Lagos metropolis other than maybe Tejuosho.
We need a bit of modernity in our markets. If rain catches you in Jakande market, it's so disgusting how everywhere turns to roforofo. And most local markets are like that. It's about time we improved our local market experience.

Wasted funds, an inept Governor building "multi billion naira" markets for abokis , who could easily trade their wares in a wheel barrow.
Aboki wount rent those shops, the prefer it for free.
Last last na Okoro, chukwudi them go rent the shops and further "develop" grin the area. Later aboki go talk say igbo are guest taking all their shops and not respecting their host. Meanwhile see shop empty now, them no go rent.
Someone said earlier the governor is soliciting "developers" to come take the shops.
