Very rude girl. The poor have the same mentality, most of them think you are just privileged to be rich and not as a result of hard work. This past Xmas, I was doing a little house renovation in the village, any labourer that I called, will give me x2 of the price, and if I ask why, they will tell me that I'm not in Nigeria and I have the money, so I should allow them to benefit too

You are just rambling..

She doesn't owe her anything!

If she got any sense..

She would have played on her goodwill..

But no!

Her greedy nature must shine through..

but she told the artist to frame the sketch work...
Just to support her. No one asked her to draw the artist. Why didn't she draw one of her lecturers or friends if it's just about talent.

And her mouth put her into trouble. You can even imagine her calling the actress fake. If I were the actress, that is the end of the transaction.

When UNESCO selected my line drawings on traditional farming in NIgeria for two different international exhibitions in Japan, UNESCO insured them.
I don't do unsolicited drawings or paintings on non-entities posturing as local celebrities.
I have done drawings on the first black Nobel Laureate in Literature, Prof. Wole Soyinka; pastel paintings on Steve Biko, the south African human rights activist,
anti-apartheid campaigner and advocate the Black Consciousness Movement during the late 1960s and 1970s and former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari.
All the portraits were not for sale.

Toyin Ojih Odutola’s 2017 painting, "Compound Leaf", sold for $597,336 (N246M) at Sotheby’s New York in 2019 .
Absolutely not the same.

This art is in colour, more intricate and on a different kind of background.

The kind of material used to draw art and the background it's drawn on matters to give its value.

Are you saying a non-colured pencil drawing like the OP is worth the same as this?

People are not stupid!

Some people no sabi how to
tap from the rich.☑️

The artist should have simply been
humble and asked her to pay anything
her spirit directs. That way, the
celebrity for even do pass.☑️

After all, she no send you to draw her
& maximum 2 days would be enough to
complete the work 5 K for framing.☑️

Poverty has made her lose an opportunity.

Art no get price o. Na Nigerians wey no get value for art dey cause all thse noise.

The artist can decide to value her art @ N1m. You are paying for the creativity and time not the frame and pencil strokes!

The Artist is right. She placed value at her piece. Okoro would have negotiated and settled things with her, not using the poor artist for clout. Nonsense!
That art na gabbage. It is simply not worth 120k. There are hyper-realistic charcoal drawings that are sold for as much as 2million dollars not that piece of junk that looks like what a primary 6 student drew.

I went back to this comment and saw that you updated it. I realized you have no idea how art works are valued, so i'll help you out.

Read this article to educate yourself so that you don't argue ignorantly: https://news.artnet.com/market/defining-the-value-of-art-27673

Artworks are valued based on demand and supply, on a very basic level. If many people are willing to buy your artwork, the price will go up, depending on how much they are willing to pay for it. If nobody is willing to buy your artwork, then its worth nothing, like the case of Blessing Okoro's artwork. Even if you put it up for N1 nobody will buy, because nobody wants it.

Taking it a step further, if you really want to place a fair market price tag on your work, you can use this simple calculation: https://www.artistsnetwork.com/artist-life/a-simple-formula-for-pricing-artwork/

But if you still think art has unlimited value, then Good Luck!

Did you notice how the weird guys here are pouncing on the artist? A girl was dashed #400,000 by a man in a front page story today and nobody insulted the girl, but this poor lady made a portrait for a paltry #120,000 naira and this low iq actress is whining. If #120,000 is too much to pay, why not politely decline? Why call her out that way? Haba Nigerians? People beg everyday on Twitter with no service to render. My take is this self acclaimed rich actress wanted that picture for free. Notice the way she said she has received such portraits for free before. Very cheap 10 Kobo woman!
