That's true but the artist is too greedy

The artist has the right to put a price tag on her work please
I also think the buyer has the right to accept or reject the price, so why is the seller insulting the buyer for that reason

You see that statement; "opportunity comes but once", I don't know about you, but if i sense you are trying to rip me because of my status or whatsoever, and you even have the gut to tell me to my face, Even if it's 10naira, just forget about it

For those saying she never demanded for the sketch, I beg my question is, do you go to Coca-Cola factory to demand for coke or Fanta before they go into production, I beg make all of una get sense. Those of you doing online advert and marketing, do you wait for a demand before you start your advert and production. As for the price, it is what it worth to the artist. If I'm told to summarize this, I will say the guy advertised his service/goods on social media and Okoro abi Okoro saw it, loved it, asked for the price, the artist gave him and she wasn't please with it cuz she taught it should go for a lesser amount and instead of her negotiating she started blabbing about the coins she has in her account.

"Why The Rich Run From The Poor": The Artist Who Drew Blessing Okoro's Portrait (Photos)

https://www.instagram.com/p/CYjYWZ7NqO2/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

'Let us judge this matter
So a random fan drew me, put it in her story, I saw it and acknowledged it, to support her I said frame it and send me I will pay for it. According to her she framed it and asked me to pay 120kv, added her account no. I felt irritated, I ignored her, she brought it down to 70k Now its funny how she is giving me price for something I willing wanted to buy to reciprocate love back . So I kuku told her to take it to the art gallery and sell it for same price . Funny enough I get art works over 12 as gifts free. Now you see why the rich run from the poor Now you see why people especially celebrities never respond to you , because you always want to rip them off. Change your mind set and stop being a collected, honestly I wanted to dash her 100k. Learn to be a aiver. vou must not always collect.

Well, I don't think 120k is too much for a work of art, it just depend on the value you place on it.
D lady mention that it is negotiable, so y not negotiate.
Also, d lady requested that she should at least pay up expenses incurred after agreeing to buy I.e 7k.

Except for the lady's last statement. I think the Okoro gal self no ready buy the thing.
She want to dash her 100k but she no ready pay 70k...mtcheew...who u dey bobo

No,
No art is rare. Every piece can be replicated as exact as the original not even now that we have CAD and CNC machines. I am definitely sure you have never seen the original monalisa painting or the medusa piece, but you still would appreciate the counter of the one presented on the Internet without spotting knowing the difference.

The price of an art work is dependent on the interest of another person on it. As long as blessing is the only interested party in this piece, trust me it would be as expensive as the minimum money she is ready to pay for it.
It's not just that. It's also based on the kind of art and the materials used to make it.

Some jokers here are comparing that pencil drawing to oil paintings, da vinci, picasso and whatnot.

It's not the same. We're not stupid.

This is just incorrigible stupidity on the part of the so called celeb who thinks she's rich. Most building architect can have your building design ready in hours and still charge you millions for it, does that make the work less significant or seem easy? So an ordinary painting means the painter has no right to charge what she wants? Has these so call celebs are dummies period!

Do you mean talent stop people from using their sense
You will be surprised that the vast majority of Nigerians think just like that

Blessing Okoro should, please, make the artist day by collecting the painting and sending the artist the 100k she initially had in mind to give to her.
Before doing the above she should lecture the artist on the intricacies of business networking, which states that when you are coming in contact with a top business personality or celebrity, the first move you should make is not to ask them for money as this often offends them, but ask them for links that will help your business grow, which eventually will end up giving you tons of money than the little dash of money the celebrity will give you.
If the artist was not too money conscious, she would have sent the picture, without demanding for money, to Blessing Okoro, she should have known innately that she will get some reward from her.
The artist can then plead with her to put up the picture in a very conspicuous place in her office, where visitors and clients will see it, as this can generate further businesses, maybe bigger businesses, for the artist.

Very rude girl. The poor have the same mentality, most of them think you are just privileged to be rich and not as a result of hard work. This past Xmas, I was doing a little house renovation in the village, any labourer that I called, will give me x2 of the price, and if I ask why, they will tell me that I'm not in Nigeria and I have the money, so I should allow them to benefit too
Madness. So because you are not in Nigeria you should dash them money? I hate those kind of workers. They forget that we all do one work or another.. anytime someone especially a worker begins to tell you " Oga/madam/Aunty you have the money pay me so that I can do the work well" forget it, such person wants to manipulate you. I would prefer they charge me normal and when the job is well-done, I can decide to buy them lunch or whatever.
I've had people come to my small shop where I'm managing and and I charge them and they say, "no nah, babe you are a big girl, you are not supposed to charge this much. You don't pay school fees so your should not be bothered about money since you have only yourself to bother about" And cos of the kind person I be, I will just tell them they shouldn't bother about what I do with the little money I make. I'm not the one who asked them to be paying fees or rent or whatever bills they pay. Yes I'm that blunt. If they want free services, they should go somewhere else.
I've also had people who came to work but instead of normal charge, they charge much and when I Price, they tell me I'm a big madam and should not complain. Remember I'm not even a Madam let alone a big one. Now, one thing I've learned is that they try to manipulate you into paying more than you should.

The artist messed up big time! She should have just told her it's a gift from a fan or asked Ms Blessing to give her anything and she would have gained money and respect! Personally, I tend to overpay people who tell me to give them "anything" I can afford for their services undecided
Give me anything na scam. I prefer being charged.

You have no idea of what you are talking about....
You, my friend have never purchased any art work before. You don't understand how art sales work, all you see is the currency flying about.

Art is like gold or silver, it has no inherent value, it is more or less a fiat. Its value strictly and only depends on what another person is willing to pay for it.

In this case, it is most probable that only blessing okoro is willing to make an offer. Hence, Okoro's offer would be the price of the art work until someone else is willing to pay more, then the price rises....most galleries do bids and auctions in public while at times art piece are being brokered secretly by licensed intermediaries and agents.

Una go just come outside open mouth gbau!!!!

More importantly the artist here was rude and lack the business acumen for her trade....simple!

Imagine drawing or painting up yahaya bello, get an opposition party member to make a public offer to purchase the art work for 5 million naira, you would see the speed at which bello would pay 10 million for that same art piece.

But if you go about his social media channels touting that same art piece, he may gift you 200k and ask you to keep the work in your portfolio (because technically it has no value until another person places an interest on it)
Are you done?

She doesn't understand arts... Some arts can be sold for 100 million... Some people sell portrait so much.... 120k isn't upto $1000 dollars it's just about $180 USD na him people dey make noise....

Big boys dey buy pencil work portrait for over 2 milli... It depends on how much the artist want to sell...

You don't tell her what to sell her work....

She is a decent girl working for living and not using her body and she must be Commended

At least she has visible skills.... We must respect that..

This art work is expensive

Raphael Drawing is the world's most expensive sketch at $48 million | Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d'Italia.
It's good that she's using her talent to make a living but she needs to learn how to respect others and herself

It's one thing to draw someone without expecting a particular payment

It's another to draw someone and then demand a particular payment

Think about it. If I drew a picture of you and demanded you to pay 120k, what would you do?

The poor spend freely and they think that the rich have the same mentality. If the rich did the same, they wouldn't be rich in the first place. They would splurge and spend their money anyhow

That artist has a bad entitlement mentality. As long as she has that, she will never thrive. Her talent won't matter

Talent is not enough to be successful in life

Abeg the artist reserves a right to ask for money.

This is how I told one Air CDR to give me anything for a job of 4.8million and he gave me 100k while it took me 3 months of running upandan to conclude.

And many others.
It depends on the job, if you were contracted, it is nice to name your price but in a case nobody asked you to do anything, it's wrong, what if Blessing didn't respond to her?.The artist lacks sense to say the list.

She did not contract the girl to do an artwork for her. She only wanted to encourage the girl. The girl wasn't suppose to bill her. At best, she could have just said "I won't mind anything you can give to support me". That artwork right there isn't worth 120k to be honest.

No art gallery is buyIng that for 50k sef

i don't think she have a choice at this point, because she have started begging for the cost of framing it,which is 7k,at this point i don't think mrs attention seeker is interested again, all she care about is how to post the story on social media. If the girl told 120k is based on how she valued you ,which personally i think it was wrong. But i am seriously feeling for the young girl for the extra cost she must have incurred while doing it.
