These are stories from legends and are not from the historians of that time. The last book of the New Testament says in: Rev. 1:7, "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
This event written in Revelation as stated by Jesus was to happen immediately after the distress of those days and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD.
In Matthew 24: Jesus clearly stated that: The distress of those days and the destruction of the Temple were the end time events and Jesus said: “Immediately after the distress of those days “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 22“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 30“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. 34Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
To know you are wrong, if it was written in 100 AD then it would have mentioned about the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem which took place in 70 AD and was part of the end time events Jesus stated that He would return immediately after these events.
Jerusalem was completely destroyed in 70 AD. And that was why Jesus said:
22“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
peggywebbs: You are not far from the the truth but just a little bit of error. The rapture hasn't happened yet and I say that yet with a big emphasis.
What that scripture simple says is that the endtime began from the moment Jesus left the earth. The church has suffered persecution since then. The disciples witnessed everything Jesus foretold except the rapture. He himself told them he did not know the day or the hour of his return. This knowledge was left alone for God.
If you read the book of revelations, the part of the opening of the seal. You can just go over to the chapter I'm not great with Bible quoting but I know basically almost everything there. So you will see when they needed to open the scroll and were looking for someone worthy. The bible says a lamb appeared which looked like it was just just slain and then they rejoiced saying that Jesus was the only one worthy to open the seal.
That incident was immediately after his crucifixion. The seals of judgement were being open one at a time, and we have experienced practically almost everything those seals have revealed. The only thing left now is the revelation of the antichrist, and his rule on earth.
So like I said, the disciples began to see experience the end times when they witnessed in Matt 24:1-32 according to your reference. Please go again and look at it. It wasn't something any pastor told me. I had interest and really studied it. All the books are saying the same thing whether Daniel's prophecy, Ezekiel's, Jesus and John the Revelator. They are all connected, you can't interpret one without the other.
If you watch this well documented history of the Roman occupation of Jerusalem then you would know that the antichrist has already occured with "the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel" when the status of Caesar the emperor was placed in the Holy Temple to be worshipped.

I like your attempt at dishing out facts, according to the writings in the good book. How do you reconcile your write up with the doctrine of hell fire and being talked about in same Revelation, where unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire(second death) ?

That's your worry that if everyone finds out the truth about the SCAM gosplels preached today you will commit suicide because this SCAM is the only source for your stomach.
Guy oya now, look for the nearest river and do the needful
MindHacker9000: What we have left today are just demons and SCAMMERS trading with the Name and words Jesus!
In Matthew 24:1-32 Jesus clearly stated that: The distress of those days and the destruction of the Temple were the end time events and Jesus said: “Immediately after the distress of those days “ ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 22“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 30“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven.
There was the greated distress in Jerusalem around 70 AD leading to the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD by the Romans. Jesus also stated that: 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times: Matthew 24:1-32 1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2“Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
3As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ a spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
22“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25See, I have told you ahead of time.
26“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29“Immediately after the distress of those days
“ ‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ b
30“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth c will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. d 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
32“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it e is near, right at the door. 34Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
thank God, people are gradually knowing this truth
It was written in the year 96 c.e. (a.d) and the writer John the Apostle wrote the his last book (Gospel account) in the year 98 c.e. Mr MindHacker just felt like stopping everyone from believing in Jesus Christ, he knows nothing about what he's trying to establish. The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple occurred when Christians have left Jerusalem for good according to Jesus' order! Luke 21:20-24 The story of Jerusalem was important to ancient servants of God before Jesus' time but after Jesus has declared that Jerusalem has been condemned (Matthew 21:43 compare to 23:37-38} the spirit of God inside the temple left tearing the temple garment as a sign of it's exit! Matthew 27:51 Jesus' followers stopped keeping Jerusalem in their hearts and anywhere they find themselves is holy to them {John 4:20-24} the new Jerusalem they're dreaming to go is not built with hands! Hebrews 11:10 compare to John 14:1-4
That's why they never thought of recording any events regarding that condemned city and it's temple afterwards!
petra1: That's the point I've been trying to make him see
And where did you get your point from. Did you get it from @MaxInDHouse @MaxInD_SCAM? Is it not this same @MaxInDHouse MaxInD_SCAM that said the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 33 AD? When in fact the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 AD.

Confused Dullard!
That was an error. Jerusalem was destroyed in the first century that's the major point the time is immaterial!
Below is what you have in mind so it's never going to work. Without Jesus Christ no man can have everlasting life! John 3:16
Jesus is Lord! Philippians 2:10 [s]So if you don't believe (trust) in his teachings you will die in your sins! John 8:24 [/s]
You are the one that will die in your sins and deceit John 8:24 as you are a deceiver of your followers and you do not believe Jesus when he said in Matthew 24:34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened..
There was the greatest distress in Jerusalem around 70 AD leading to the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD by the Romans. Jesus also stated that: 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
MaxInDHouse: Matthew wasn't relating a literal event but a vision of what will happen in the nearest future! It's a vision of what will happen in the future due to the sacrifice Jesus just made with his own blood. No dead bodies left their graves because resurrection will only take place when Jesus call {John 5:28-29} the one who will make that call is dead so it's a vision not literal event!
You can't even hide your deceit. God will continue to make you expose yourself. So you and Matthew were sitting together and he told you he was having a vision when he wrote in Matthew-27-52-53 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.

The generation that witnessed the component signs of Jesus' return as a glorious King not those listening to Jesus. So humble yourself and learn!

Was Matthew talking about the day Jesus died or the day he resurrected?

Answer your own question as you were the one sitting with Matthew when he was writing to know that he was having a vision below.

Well for the benefit of honest hearted and sincere followers of this thread i will!
Matthew was talking about Jesus' death so it couldn't have been about the resurrection that occured three days later!
Now calmly read but this time carefully and diligently:
And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!" Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s son. As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Matthew 27:50-57
Matthew was reporting what happened the day Jesus died while the women were crying as they're watching from a distance. So when he began talking about what happens at Jesus' resurrection it simply means that sacrifice has been accepted in the heavens so all ancient servants of God who lived faithfully now have the assurance of a resurrection because without Jesus' blood poured out they will forever remain dead as sinners! Romans 3:23
What we have left today are just demons and SCAMMERS trading with the Name and words Jesus! In Matthew 24:1-32 Jesus clearly stated that: The distress of those days and the destruction of the Temple were the end time events and Jesus said: [highlight]“Immediately after the distress of those days .....
This is wrong! If you look closely at Matthew 24 which you quoted from you will find that the verses you reference go instead towards answering two different questions that were asked Jesus by His disciples. His apostles asked Him two different questions which Jesus Christ then proceeded to answer in that same context.
1Jesus left the Temple area and was walking away. But his followers came to him to show him the Temple’s buildings. 2He asked them, “Are you looking at these buildings? The fact is, they will be destroyed. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground. Not one stone will be left on another.” 3Later, Jesus was sitting at a place on the Mount of Olives. The followers came to be alone with him. They said, “■ Tell us when these things will happen. ■ And what will happen to prepare us for your coming and the end of time?” 4Jesus answered, “Be careful! Don’t let anyone fool you. 5Many people will come and use my name. They will say, ‘I am the Messiah.’ And they will fool many people. 6You will hear about wars that are being fought. And you will hear stories about other wars beginning. But don’t be afraid. These things must happen before the end comes. 7Nations will fight against other nations. Kingdoms will fight against other kingdoms. There will be times when there is no food for people to eat. And there will be earthquakes in different places. 8These things are only the beginning of troubles, like the first pains of a woman giving birth... - Matthew 24 vs 1 - 29
From verse 3 through verse 29, Jesus Christ carefully responds to the first question asked of Him by His followers regarding the end of the days, the final days of the temple in Jerusalem — the end of God's judgment against the Nation of Israel which began over 500 years before that point in time. All this took place over 1900 years ago.
Verses 30-35 contain His response to the second question asked of the coming and the end of time.
■ You've been brainwashed! The SCAM of the gospel being preached today is what's feeding your stomach, that's why you are only worried about your food because of the truth this post has revealed.
I won't dispute the fact that all pastors and mogs are scammers. Jesus Christ while chewing out the Pharisees in His Gospels said that all those who reject His teachings and commandments, opting instead for the interpretations of men — doctrines, and traditions of men— are all hypocrites.
7You are hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he spoke for God about you: 8‘These people honor me with their words, but I am not really important to them. 9Their worship of me is worthless. The things they teach are only human rules.’” - Matthew 15 vs 7 - 9
...
6Jesus answered, “You are all hypocrites. Isaiah was right when he wrote these words from God about you:‘These people honor me with their words, but I am not really important to them. 7 Their worship of me is worthless. The things they teach are only human rules.’ 8You have stopped following God’s commands, preferring instead the man-made rules you got from others.” 9Then he said, “You show great skill in avoiding the commands of God so that you can follow your own teachings! - Mark 7 vs 6 - 9
Religion is the purview of hypocrites. If you imbibe the doctrines and traditions of men — your many pastors and mogs — rather than the absolute teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ as documented in the Gospels, you are no different from the Pharisees before you.
